I messed up our flights to Denver flying with Delta, I thought it was AM but its PM and a late flight...and a wasted day. It will be 350. to change them, and I don't want to pay that. What are the chances of them changing the flight to at least a couple hours earlier ??? Anyone ever had them do that ? Thanks;)

we flew Delta to Orlando last year and they actually backed our flight up....we were supposed to arrive in Orlando at 12:30 pm and they changed our connecting flight so we landed at 2:30 pm. (that kind of stunk... it was the main reason we chose Delta in the first place!)
But I think if they do change your flight at all, you will have the option to change your ticket..... not sure if they will charge though. I know that we had to change one leg of our trip because of the way the layover fell and we weren't charged ,at that point, to change the tickets to a different flight.

Have you called and spoken to anyone there ? If the person answering isn't any help, keep going up the chain to see if someone maybe can help you.

The chances are slim to none that they will make it earlier, if anything since it is a little flight there could be a greater chance for a delay. I'm not sure when your flight is for, but if it is far out they might rearrange the schedule and your flight could change, but I wouldn't count on that happening.

I would try to keep working with Delta to get your flight changed for a least a little bit less of a cost.

If your flight is several months away, there is a high probability that Delta will change flight times. If the time change is big enough, I have always found Delta to be cooperative in changing my flights to times that work better for me.

Flight is July 12. another question does Delta email or notify you someway ? Or do I just need to keep checking online ? I signed up for an alert with them but I no other airlines did not ever let me no of changes and I found out my checking. thanks

I would just check every couple of days. Even if it is a change of only 30 mins or so I would call and see if they will switch you to something earlier. They have always been very easy to deal with when it comes to schedule changes. But keep in mind you are only about 3 1/2 months out so you may not see any changes.

Delta is bad form my experiences and I will never fly them again...
find out how much time the flight needs to change by in order to change for free and watch closely..
I had huge issues they cancelled my flight put me on an earlier flight which would not work because of a cruise and would not change... I had to call the corporate office in Atlanta it took hours......
at this time our tickets were grandfathered form the bag fees... being out flight was cancelled it looked as if we purchased the tickets after the cut off date.. (DCL collected the fee for Delta with express CO found out the night before) Delta told me they can see this but we nneded to pay go on line and e-mail them all the information to get a refund......
thankfully I kept ALL of the paperworks and showed DCL at checkout and they let me go without paying
GOOD LUCK..
I would leave it as is and suck it up otherwise expect problems and headaches that will be far worse
I will never use them again and it is sad as the were years ago one of the best....

we had a similar situation happen the only difference was that DH has gotten orders and it was going to messed up everything. I had to fax all paperwork and they didn't charge us due to military orders but other wise they would of.

You are best off checking your reservation periodically. Delta is not good about notifying of changes. I actually check my own reservations several times a week, even when I am months away from traveling.

When did you book the flight? You have until midnight the following day to cancel without penalty.

I booked them 2 weeks ago, I knew about the 24 hours policy but felt that the prices were so cheap that I may never find that again. I paid 866. for 4 of us to fly out of CMH to DEN round trip. I can't find them anywhere before or now after for less than 1700. so I guess I'll just suck it up :guilty: and hope they change the times.

wow I am surprised by this. We fly Delta every year and I always expect the schedule changes. But when they happen we always call and they actually change us without a problem. Almost always works to my advantage too since I usually book the cheapest with a layover and almost always end up on nonstop because of their schedule changes.

I'm a travel agent, Delta has the most schedule changes of any airline. While there is no guarantee they they'll change yours, your odds are good. Just keep checking about once a week and keep your fingers crossed.

One thing to keep in mind... I *THINK* it needs to be a change of 1 hour (either departure or arrival) or more to 'open up' all the flights. In other words, if a flight only changes 5-10 minutes, they probably won't allow you to change to the flight you want.

You're right, kinda sorta. The only hard and fast rule for most airlines is that it has to be a 90 minute change before you can get a full refund. Beyond that it's a bit of a judgement call for the airline rep you're talking to. For example, if your flight changes and now departs 20 minutes earlier, and you call asking for an even earlier flight, they'll say "no" (it's already earlier than what you had scheduled originally after all). But in that same situation, if you call and ask for a later flight, they'll book you on the next later flight no problem, even if it's several hours later.

And even a 5/10 minute change MAY work in your favor IF your talking about a connecting flight that has a tight layover time. The FAA mandates that you need a minimum amount of time to change planes, the exact time varries between each airport, but generally it's 30 to 45 minutes for domestic flights. IF a schedule change makes it so the layover is shorter than the minimum allowed for the airport you're connecting through, the airline MUST rebook you. So if a 5 minute change makes a 30 minute layover a 25 minute layover, BAM, you can now make a change at no charge. You still may be limited in what you can choose from (if your original flight was at 8 AM they may balk at putting you on a 5 PM if there are other earlier options available, for example) but you'll get some leeway.

I had such a bad expeirence from Delta. That it kinda started our vacation on the wrong foot. I hope you get this settled.

I have only had one bad experience on Delta & it really wasn't their fault. We had no pilots - they were stuck in another city & the weather there caused incoming to delay 3 hours. But they can't control the weather. They are actually the only ones that have NOT lost my luggage so far. AA & Frontier seem to think my luggage needs to go anywhere but where I am going.

If your flight changes significantly you should receive an e-mail notification of it. This is what ours said:

Our schedule has changed, and it impacts your upcoming trip. Please review the itinerary below for your flight numbers, departure and arrival times, and seat assignments (we have bolded the changes). We look forward to seeing you onboard soon.

If it has been less than 24hrs they have a no fee change policy. Kind of like buyers remorse-good luck

I understand (sort of) not reading an entire 23 page thread and responding, but not reading all the responses on the first page?:confused3

It has been well over 24 hours, its been 2 weeks. Delta has nothing wrong the mistake was MY fault, the only thing that Delta has done is they want to charge me for changing my flight. Even within the first 24 hours, but as stated the was the CHEAPEST we could get....get what you pay for, lol. I called Delta yesterday and spoke with a very nice man He said " Yes, chances are you flight times will change and most likely more than one time. We don't send out any email notifing you until 5 weeks from your flight. If the time is a difference of 90 minutes than we will work with you. Or if it causes a miss on connestions we will also work with you."
So I'll just keep checking it. I'll also be keeping my fingers crossed for a earlier flight. Thanks :cutie:
