My cousin let me use her air miles last summer to get to a family reunion.

Long story short, I would like to repay her.

I now have about 35,000 Delta air miles that I would like to transfer to her account, but according to Delta, they charge $10 per 100 miles transferred. That is $350! :scared1:

Is there anyway around this????? Do they ever have a deal to transfer for free or are there any codes or secrets to doing this?

I thought I would ask here.

Thanks,

Dawn

I think you have to pay. We transferred some with Airtran this month and I had to pay for my husband to transfer them to me.

I don't know of anything, but my two suggestions...
1) Call Delta & explain your situation. The worst they can say is "no, you'll be charged $380 (there's a $30 'processing fee')
2) Make up a certificate on your computer that you can give to your cousin letting them know you'll book the trip for them using your skymiles number.

Not much help, sorry.

The thing is, I really don't have enough points to offer booking a ticket. She used 70,000 for my ONE ticket since it was peak season.

I just wanted to offer some return for what she had done.

The 30,000 tickets are very few and most are over 50,000 as she found out after talking to the Delta folks.....

I don't want to offer something I can't deliver.

Unfortunately, to transfer from one skymiles account to another, you'll have to pay a transaction fee...and the per mile fee. Every now and again, they'll have a percent bonus for transferring miles (like get 50% more miles when you transfer). The easiest thing to do is to let your cousin know that if she ever finds one of those 30K tickets, to let you know and you'll get it for her. Just make sure to keep your account active - you can do this with skymiles dining or skymiles shopping...which also helps you to build up your skymiles totals!
