I have just ordered a Dell Laptop, my first Dell ever. I would like to know if you have had good or bad experiences with Dell. I got a great deal, but I'm a bit uneasy about the quality of the product.

I don't have a laptop (thinking of getting one) but we have 2 Dell desk tops and we haven't had any problem with them.

I had to call Tech support once and they were very helpful.

Both my BIL's bought Dell computers (one is a laptop) after we bought ours and they love them. You can't beat the deals.

I do have a friend that bought a Dell desktop more than a few years ago and hated it so much she sent it back. :confused3

Good luck with it.

There are days I love my dell laptop more than a couple of my kids.

Well, not really. But close.

I just bought my first Dell 2 months ago and LOVE it. It's so fast, looks great, I really really love it! I have not had to call technical support yet, but it has the 3 years warranty so I am not worried.

I've been using a Dell laptop since Nov. I love it:love:

We had to call them last night because we lost our wireless signal. The Dell tech found the problem. Turns out someone had deleted a needed file from the computer, the Dell technician re-installed it and helped with our router. He stayed on the phone until we were re-connected. It was at least an hour. My husband says he's now a Dell customer for life

I've had my Dell laptop for almost a year and love it. No problems. When I first got it, I did have to call tech support once for a very small issue and it was something I was doing and not the computer. I love being wireless and able to go anywhere in the house to use it.

I also used Dell desktops at work for over 6 years and never had any problem with them either. I think their products are great.

I have had one since 2002 -- still using it as I type. I've had no problems. Bought my kids the cheap ones last summer ($500 a piece) and theirs have been good except for one problem. My daughter's decided to not turn on one day. I called Dell and they sent a box within a day. We shipped it off, it was back within a week all fixed. No charge at all for it because it was still under warranty. This was around Christmas time, so I was impressed with a week turn around.

DH bought me a DELL laptop for Christmas this past year and I love it. I had an ibook for about 5 years but it was starting to die. The upgrade to Vista took us 2 attempts but it was worth it. I believe they come with Vista already installed.

thanks for all the comments. The one I ordered comes pre-installed with XP. I'm not ready for Vista yet.

We have 3 Dell laptops in our household and one Dell desktop. I wouldn't keep buying them if there was the slightest problem! Dell is also the brand we use at work so I actually have a 4th Dell laptop in our household.

I have a Dell laptop. It is one year old now and so far *knock on wood* I haven't had any problems. I ordered mine online too.

All my desktops and my laptop are DELL's , should I say more ???? BTW I am using my laptop now .....I love it.

Dell has become one of those 4-letter words where I work. They get extremely hot and that slows them down and shortens the life. And these are business quality :headache:

I almost ordered one for home but went with an HP which is business quality as well and runs much faster and cooler.

Just my opinion and what I've seen. Your mileage might very ;)

I agree with Minnie. I had a Dell laptop. I had the same problems with the heat and probably quite a few more. My experiences with Tech Support weren't all that wonderful, either. And that four-letter word that rhymes with Dell was often said. I got so frustrated that I have a Gateway, now, but I'd really much rather have an Apple.

We have a dell laptop (1.5 years old) and a dell desktop (4.5 years old) and they have both held up great so far. The few times I've had to call tech support, my experiences were very good. I do not, however, like their printers. I also bought the extended warranty. They sent me a new battery about a month ago, no questions asked...that was cool - and it wasn't because of the recall. I do agree with the other poster...my husband has an imac and he LOVES it...so easy to do all the home multimedia stuff.

For the folks that had the ones that ran hot. What processor was it and how much RAM did you have?

If anyone is interested, QVC has DELL computers as the special of the day. 5 easy payments.

I've been using my Dell laptop for 2.5 years now with only one issue, and it was not Dells fault. My son busted a couple of the keys, but Dell sent a new keypad on warrenty immediately. It only took 5 minutes to swap out the keypad.

Oh, I also dropped it once in a parking garage and cracked the case, but it has not affected how it runs at all.

We have a laptop and desktop from Dell. Have never had any problems with them.

I have a 3yr old Inspiron 600m. The video connector went bad. The keyboard lost a key and you can't just stick back on, they have to replace the whole keyboard. The hard drive went bad. A hinge on the screen broke and had to be replaced. And, there was the infamous battery recall, which wasn't their fault.

If you think I am saying don't buy a Dell, you are wrong. I am mean as a snake to my computer. Everything that happened, besides the battery was my fault. It was under the next business day warranty and they shipped the parts to a technician the same day I complained and in every case, had the laptop up and running within two days. You can not beat their service. Every consumer product, save toliet brushes and Dole Whips, will have a bad item or two, but at my job, we buy a couple of dozen computers per year and don't have many problems, except when neanderthals like me are given laptops with a free license to destroy and have fixed.

They have great product, good deals, and, since I only deal with top tier support, I can only comment on it, great support. They are making the most efficient machines for the dollar right now.
