Delicious Indeed!

YAY for the Magic Kingdom!!! First off, I love the video of Howard opening his vinylmation. You guys seem to have good luck with those!

Even though we've been to the TTC it's weird to see you guys having to park the car and take the monorail. I'm so used to just taking the busses from the resort. The only time we've ever had to park there was the one trip where we stayed offsite.

If you guys ever want another travel companion I'll come with you. hehe You all look like you're having so much fun! :thumbsup2

Love the Vinylmation opening video and all of them still, actually! It was nice to hear the voice of the Monorail, too....makes me want to be on it now!

Those treats looked soooo good!

I can see why that picture around the table was one of your favorties! Too bad you weren't able to be in it too!

I loved Basin, too! Did you go to the sinks and wash your hands with their product? That's DD's favorite thing to do here at Bath & Body Works, so we were excited to see one at Basin! Having to wait so long to get your Ginger Ale soap will just make it that much better when you do get it...

It works well when I pick for Howard, and Ray picked for Danielle. Haha, I don't know why. We had pretty good luck that way!

It's going to be SUCH an odd experience taking the bus! They go to the front of the actual MK park? I don't even know where that is. Haha, we're always coming down the monorail ramp!

We'd gladly have you! I'm sure you'd convince us to get annual passes and buy DVC, hehe.

At home, I have to watch the videos with my earbuds plugged into my speakers because I don't want anyone to go, "Why are you watching those AGAIN?"

Yeah, it'd be super fun if I could've been in that group picture too. We don't have many group pictures from this trip. We weren't together enough to really ask the PP cast members to take pics of us and to use our cameras.

No, I didn't get to try anything! I think I was kinda rushing through it, so that's why I didn't stop. I hope they still have the Ginger Ale soap when I go back! I might be back next April, but I'll definitely be back next May!

Wednesday, February 23: MK Opening Show and Main Street!

We had a good amount of time to wait before the opening of the park, so we were able to get some pictures. Here are Dani and Ray ...

IMG_6885.jpg

Here are me and Howard.

IMG_9119.jpg

And then one of me and my cousins! We had to stand in this order, which is Rachel/Danielle/Nicolette because when we younger, we called ourselves RDN Studios because we used to record radio plays on their kiddie recorder. I like to think I had something to do with the fact that Dani got into screenplay writing and writes the musicals for our church coffeehouse! Hehe, I used to write the scripts for our radio plays.

IMG_6886.jpg

That fog is still so thick! As the sun started coming out more, it began to burn away.

IMG_9120.jpg

I love knowing that Walt's first window is at the front of the train station ... like movie credits!

IMG_9122.jpg

Have you ever seen a picture of Walt and his trains that he set up in his backyard? So cool! They were small sized, but you could still ride on them! Haha, I don't know why I say "you."

IMG_9123.jpg

Howard of course took a MILLION pictures of the train station. I'll post one. Haha. When I was rotating them last night, I was like, "Is this just not rotating, and it keeps bringing me to the same picture?" It wasn't. He really had that many.

IMG_6899.jpg

Howard also likes taking pictures of me, and sometime when I'm not in the mood for posing, I make lovely faces, hehe.

IMG_6900.jpg

When we got there, there weren't that many people. We could've been much closer to the ropes, but I wanted to see the show, so that's why we're farther back.

IMG_9125.jpg

Howard really liked that guy in the black. He was like, "I'm that person." When he runs events at work, he's usually wearing all black, and he does all the set-up before the speakers or whoever it is goes up.

IMG_6902.jpg

See just how bright it got?

IMG_6910.jpg

And soon the MAYOR came out to open the park! What a fabulous job! We didn't get a chance to see him this trip though like we did in 2010 and take a picture and talk with him.

IMG_6915.jpg

Yay, the song I had grown to know so much!

IMG_6916.jpg

Of course, I recorded the opening! I get so excited watching it even now at home. I know there are so many recordings of it, but everyone still continues to video it each time. It's special! This isn't the opening show yet, but I did want to post a video that the Disney parks messed up the slogan! Haha, the other night I had said something about the slogan and how it was "Where the memories are made," not remembering the actual one! It became a joke with us each time we saw it on a napkin or sign.

This was also NOT the beginning of the show. Haha, I thought it was because they had a special announcement telling us it was going to start.

The show started! Love the CMs' smiles!

IMG_6925.jpg

HERE is the actual video. I don't know why Photobucket won't take it. Maybe it's too long, so I'm hoping this YouTube version will work.

http://youtu.be/H1S7ba6SPJE

Here are just a few things I love about that video:
- The lady in front of me who bops around in time to the music before anything "official" happens. You can actually see there's another one closer to the front who dances around too! The ladies also bop during Good Morning.
- The mayor's voice when he first starts talking!
- Howard waving when the mayor says hi, hehe. I love how all the adults wave; only in Disney would that happen!
- I love what the CMs are doing when the mayor is introducing the family. I just love that like dancing stuff they're doing as they stay in one spot so that they're not stationary, but they're not distracting from the introduction either!
- When the CMs start hearing Casey's horn, watch the guy CM all the way to the left. I LOVE how he's so into looking to see where the train is coming from and how he leans over the edge of the railing. I don't know why I just LOVE it. Like he's really into it and in character!
- I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN THE TRAIN SHOWED UP!!! Haha, you can hear also that Nik said, "ALADDIN!" Haha, she totally loves him.
- I liked seeing the conductor. He probably doesn't get that much attention, so I filmed him for a few seconds!
- I like how the CMs shoot out the streamers at the end, but they're attached to them, so it's so easy for them to pull it back up for clean-up.
Haha, can you tell I've watched this video a LOT?

Well, the park was officially opened and we could not head on inside. YAY! Though we saw some forms of transportation, we didn't ride any. I WILL ride it next year. Or at least I'll TRY to ride something!

IMG_6939.jpg

The sad thing about Main Street during our stay was that a lot of it was being fixed, so we saw a lot of this. I do appreciate the fact that they take the effort to put up those screens that look like the building itself so as to find some way to make it less of a disruption.

IMG_9130.jpg

It looks like the kid on the right wants to ride!

IMG_6940.jpg

We followed the crowd of people eager to start their day too!

IMG_9133.jpg

Here are some shots that Howard got as we were walking.

IMG_6942.jpg

IMG_6943.jpg

IMG_6944.jpg

And then there was the castle!

IMG_6945.jpg

Before we headed to our first land, we passed by a popcorn cart, and I was eager to see it and for Howard to take a picture of it. The reason for that is because my older brother had this Disney coloring book when he was a kid that I have now "inherited." Two years ago before Howard left to go work in Vancouver for a month for his uncle (before he got his current job), I gave him a notebook that I had been writing in and drawing in. One of the things I drew was a popcorn cart. I used the Disney coloring book as a reference, so it was pretty cool seeing the real thing! Plus, we loved our popcorn carts in VMK.

IMG_6946.jpg

If you've read my previous TRs, you know that I always go to the same land first!

Ohhhh I love how the sky cleared up for the opening show! And the video was great! Even though I'm going to be at the MK a lot in October for the Halloween party I still want to go to there the first morning so I can see the opening show. I just love it. :goodvibes I have to say too, the mayor was AWESOME.

Great update! Did you know that one of the trains Walt used to ride around his yard is in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge Villas? (the DVC lobby part)

2093799482_7893dfaee1_m.jpg

Nothing beats that first feeling walking down Main Street! :goodvibes

Magic Kingdom always makes me feel like I'm really at Disney World. It's not that I don't love all of the other parks, it's just that Magic Kingdom is it for me. However, I'm kind of like you and I follow touring plans when deciding on which parks to go to, so I don't always visit MK on my first day.

I love that you had the Herbie costume in VMK! I never had one of those, but I loved getting different costumes and outfits. Wasn't Halloween at VMK the best? They always had cool costumes out then.

You all got to the MK early! I've never been to rope drop, but it's possible we'll make it this trip. The show looks like a lot of fun.

Wasn't that sky just absolutely gorgeous? I like that it was a bit foggier in the morning so that we didn't have to be out in the sun for that long and get heated up. I like chilly mornings a lot! It'll be different next May! I'm so excited to do the opening show during our honeymoon and then go another day when we can sleep in. We're definitely getting park hoppers, but right now we're contemplating annual passes!!!

Ooo, I didn't know that about Walt's train! That'd be a fantastic thing to see! Thanks for sharing that.

I LOVE walking down Main Street! I haven't yet done it while singing though, so I do plan on that at least once in my life! Haha, maybe not singing that loudly though ... "I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street USA ..."

However, I'm kind of like you and I follow touring plans when deciding on which parks to go to, so I don't always visit MK on my first day.

There has to be a reason why they do most if not all the Disney Parks commercials at MK! I love it so much, but it is nice not to have to rush around on the first day. MK seems to require a lot more energy!

I love that you had the Herbie costume in VMK! I never had one of those, but I loved getting different costumes and outfits. Wasn't Halloween at VMK the best? They always had cool costumes out then.

Ooo, what was your avatar's name in VMK? I actually had 5 accounts, haha. My "mules" were excellent for collecting coins and doing VMK quests! I had RachelNinja (main account), Jinit (named after my mom Janet; we used to joke that her name was Jinit), RaeWrites (the smart one, haha), GirlyNinja, and BigBertha. Oh how I miss it! I got pretty good with fireworks, and I loved playing Haunted Mansion with Howard. I was horrible at POTC! I STILL miss it dearly. I still miss looking on the trade boards for all the costumes that came out before we started playing. We played for just a little under a year.

Rope drop is so worth it! I feel it's so official seeing the mayor and everything!

Wednesday, February 23: My Personal Highest Buzz Score

(Posting this before the possibility of losing electricity due to Hurricane Irene!)

Once we saw the castle, we made a right to go to Tomorrowland! It's always my first stop, I don't really know why. You'd think it'd be Frontierland or something, but I don't know that I want to do rollercoasters in the morning. On the way, we saw some peeps! Hehe, we thought it was great that the girl was all Minnie-d out.

IMG_9135.jpg

Love that space age-y feeling of this place!

IMG_6947.jpg

We went to Buzz Lightyear first to get some FP.

IMG_6948.jpg

Then we headed to the regular standby line to ride. I love this game/ride, and I'm super competitive about it. It's not that I want to beat the person I'm riding with (although that's fun, hehe), but I want to beat my own score.

IMG_6950.jpg

Howard was excited that he was able to get some good shots of the interior, which is usually so difficult to photograph sans flash!

IMG_6952.jpg

I don't even know how he got these because as you know, we're moving at this point. So cool!

IMG_6954.jpg

Because I was controlling the joystick, it was harder for him to shoot. He ended up just taking pictures during most of the ride. Here I was aiming for the volcano. Gotta love making the volcano erupt and scoring major points! Huh, I never noticed that creepy pteradactyl type creature on the left side fo this picture.

IMG_6955.jpg

Nik rode by herself, but she was in the middle of all of us. Do you ever stop to think that you're actually really close to the people in the car in front and in back of you? I'm always so focused on scoring that I don't think about these details.

IMG_6956.jpg

I like how in this picture, you can see the orange robot in the previous room that has a high point target on its left hand!

IMG_6957.jpg

Pow pow, trying to get the bottom of Zurg!

IMG_6958.jpg

Haha, how cute is Nik with her 2 laser cannons?

IMG_6959.jpg

I think I try to hit the bottom of this one too. I never remember which one requires hitting the bottom target.

IMG_6961.jpg

I was super happy with my final score! Of course, I was thinking, "Ahhhhhhh, only x amount of points away from maxing out!" Just 81,399 would've gotten me to the 999,999 that I'm always trying to get.

IMG_9137.jpg

Nonetheless, I was happy that this was my best personal score!

IMG_6965.jpg

Here are our ride photos. If ALL the ride photos were able to be scanned on Photopass, I'd totally consider getting the Photopass CD.

One ride done! YAY! I'm so glad they had fun. This was just the tip of the iceberg!

Looks like a great dinner. You definately had a fun group.

Great video of Howard opening the Herbie vinylmation. You can tell how excited you both were. I'm glad you have something fun to remind you of VMK.

I'm glad you arrived at MK nice and early! The train station photos are great, and nice photos of everyone in front of the train station too. That's funny that Howard took so many photos you thought it wasn't changing.

I love the morning show & enjoyed your video! This was the day we were at MK too. We arrived later than planned. We went through the turnstiles as the show was starting, and watched from right in front of the turnstiles.

Congrats on getting your personal high score on Buzz!
Howard is doing a different kind of shooting in the ride photo
He got some great photos though!

Hope you are all doing well in the storm. Very windy here.

I hope you guys are okay with the storm!

I'm super competitive about Buzz! It's not just about beating my own score either. :lmao:

I would have been like you too. Man, I'm so close to 999,999! That was an awesome score though. Truly awesome.

Whew, all caught up!

I missed some of your fb posts but I hope things are ok at home after Irene! We had some huge tree limbs down in our backyard but thankfully none hit the house. Lots of cleanup to do with leaves and branches tho!

I LOVE the Basin and I got DH into it too so we usually buy one of the Mickey soap bars to add a little Disney touch to the bathroom :goodvibes

Your Mickey kitchen tools are great! We have a few also. I wonder if people think I have TOO much Disney stuff in my house, hmmm......I hope you make lots of Mickey pancakes in your future married home! :goodvibes

The dinner night in sounded great just relaxing and watching a movie.

DSS started the Vinylmations this last trip. He bought the Park series but only purchased 2. I couldn't believe how expensive they were!!

I love how it cleared up so nicely for your MK morning rope drop! The opening ceremony makes me cry every, single, time!

I love Buzz! It's one of the few rides I get so into that I forget when the picture is coming up. My fingers are usually tired from holding down the trigger after!

Crafting question - I believe you said you had a Cricut? Which one do you have, if so, and do you like it? I'm thinking about getting one for scrapbooking and stuff, but I'm not sure which one I should invest in. Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

PHEW, we survived Irene! During the night hours, I was actually really bothered by the sounds. My room was the loudest, and everything was echoing. The wind was getting so bad that even the street sign outside was making a metallic wobbling noise. I tried relocating to the basement (too cold) and then the living room (uncomfortable because my brother was already there since my older brother came home for the duration and was in my younger brother's room, so I couldn't really access a couch without potentially stepping on him!). I ended up spending 3 hours awake in the middle of the night online. But I did do research for the Disneymoon! I was reading Tom Bricker's Disneymoon report, and so I started researching the Tables in Wonderland card since we're leaning towards getting annual passes.

I did finally fall asleep at 6:30am, so I didn't get up until close to 11am. By then, it was bright out and the rain had stopped. I read about the horrible flooding in some areas. There were some main roads that were so flooded that people were on kayaks and others had to be rescued by boat. Thankfully, our house is in a no evacuation zone, so we didn't flood. My dad was up every once in a while to empty water so that the sump pump wouldn't overflow.

We thought we were done with it all, but in the afternoon, the winds were pretty powerful again. Because of that, we had literally 10 blackouts in a row until the 11th one was a real blackout. We were without electricity for the next 17 hours, which was a little difficult, but thankfully, that was the worst of it for us. Because it was only 17 hours, we didn't have to throw away any food (if we didn't get it within the next few hours, we were going to pick up dry ice that was being offered by Con Ed). It was interesting at night though to see that all around us, it was just pitch black without any lights from any houses or street lamps. I did craft by flashlight though! I'll be posting those on my blog. I think they came out pretty well considering I didn't have my regular lights!

Anyway, I'm so glad that it's over. I spent a lot of time nervous, and my anxiety was messing up my sleep. Hopefully, I'll be able to feel well-rested again as this is my last full week before I head back to work next Wednesday (teachers only).

Yeah, there really wouldn't have been a way to capture the excitement we felt over that Herbie Vinylmation in words! Something about having that initial reaction on video makes the moment even more special!

That's what makes sorting through photos for the TRs even more time consuming! Haha, he takes a million pictures of the same thing! He did get better this year as opposed to last year. In the 2010 TR that I'm still working on, he took things on burst mode or whatever it's called. It would take 3 consecutive photos when the button was pushed once, so that was a lot of the exact same photo!

I can't believe we were that close on that morning! I love DIS meets, but I always feel bad trying to arrange them when I'm with a group or I know the other person is with a group. I'm going to guess it'll be easier for DIS meets when Howard and I start traveling on our own after we're married.

Yup! Totally different kind of shooting! I'm glad he did though. We don't usually have photos ON that ride!

I hope you guys are okay with the storm!

I'm super competitive about Buzz! It's not just about beating my own score either. :lmao:

I would have been like you too. Man, I'm so close to 999,999! That was an awesome score though. Truly awesome.

Yup, we're a-okay! Thanks!

Haha, yeah, I get really competitive about Buzz Lightyear. I really do like having the higher score, haha. I vow to one day get that 999,999!

Whew, all caught up!

I love how it cleared up so nicely for your MK morning rope drop! The opening ceremony makes me cry every, single, time!

So glad you're okay! We're okay too! Oy, too much action in such a small timeframe. I like good ol' predictability!

Oo, it'd be fun to just buy one soap bar each time! It's not really a place I can splurge, but I think it'd be fun to just have one! Either that or I'll find a Disney soap dispenser for liquid soap!

Never too much Disney stuff! If it makes you happy, it's right where it belongs. I'm hoping the stuff I got will last a really long time. Then it'll be really worth it.

Yeah, those Vinylmation are EXPENSIVE! That's why I'm glad he got some at the outlet store, but even so, they were still expensive! I mean, 2 outlet store priced Vinylmation was the same price as my Disney bag!!! Of course, Howard could be thinking that for the price of one bag, he got 2 Vinylmation, haha. I splurged on those DeeBees pins though so I understand to some degree. I really wanted the DeeBees. They're on the desk next to my bed, so sometimes I just take them out of the box and look at them. They make me happy!

I think I'm going to have to watch the opening show all the time now! Can't believe we've been missing it all this time. My dad didn't understand why we should get there and wait. He wanted to get there right when it opened so we could go right in.

:goodvibes

Mine too! My finger hurts so much! I remember during my first time riding, I kept pushing the button over and over not realizing I could just hold my finger down. THAT hurt even more!

Yup! I have a Cricut Expression, which is the biggest size that you can have. It uses a 12x12 mat and can even fit a 12x24 mat (I don't have that because I don't need to cut anything that big). I was initially going to get the original Cricut or the Create, but then Howard said that it didn't make sense to have to cut down all the paper to be 6x12. Plus, he said I might want to have the option of cutting bigger things in the future. I'm so glad that I have the E. I can mass produce a lot easier. In the beginning, I used my machine without any design software, and it was fine and all, but I did make mistakes in terms of sizing. Now I have the Gypsy, which I LOVE. It's so easy to design things, lay out all the paper on the mat, and then set it to cut and walk away from it. Beforehand, I had to cut in one color, remove, cut in another color, remove, etc. Cricut Craft Room is available now though, I believe. It's a free online program to design and then cut (requires internet access and connection to your computer). That way you can do everything that's done on the Gypsy or with Design Studio (ex. hide cuts, weld letters together).

If you're using it for scrapbooking just in terms of titles and images, a smaller one might be fine. However, there are some people who cut out big shapes for the first layer of the scrapbook, and that would require something that fits the 12x12. I know people really like the E2, which has a touch screen on it. I had already bought my E from Walmart (I have a colored one; it was from the Black Friday sale at Walmart even though I bought it like, a month later), and I'm really happy with it. Oh, if you want to be able to print and cut (ex. print pattern paper), the machine you'd need is the Imagine. I don't know much about it though because I just buy pattern paper since it's so cheap. I know some people have had issues with the Imagine, and the ink cartridges are really expensive. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions! It'd be fun to have another crafting buddy!

Wednesday, February 23: The Non-Space Mountain

After defeating Zurg, I asked the 3 of them if they were going to ride Space Mountain. It looked like the ride was just opened because the line was outside the building. I didn't want to ride because the last time I did, I got a headache. Maybe if it's at the end of the day, I'll try it again, but I really don't feel like there's a need. So Howard and I went on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

IMG_6970.jpg

Is it weird that this is the SECOND ride we're going on when we technically have a fairly low crowd park at this point of day? Haha.

IMG_6971.jpg

There was an older couple on the ride too this early in the morning. When we were going toward Space Mountain, they were leaving it, and we all just smiled at each other. It was a cute moment, and it made me think of being old with Howard, hehe!

IMG_6972.jpg

We were at the back of one length of cars. I love being at the front or at the back.

IMG_9139.jpg

On our ride, we were actually able to see Ray, Dani, and Nik waiting in line for Space Mountain. Ray has the red backpack that you can see in this picture.

IMG_6973.jpg

I didn't get a very good picture, but when I turned around, I got a picture of the track. Don't you love how it's all done through magnets?

IMG_9142.jpg

I may not have said it enough (haha), but I LOVE LOVE LOVE ride vehicles!

IMG_6976.jpg

We saw the train coming around, and I waved, but they didn't see me. Waving is so fun at WDW! Haha, it's not really something you do when in New York.

IMG_6979.jpg

Here you can see that they changed the name of the ride!

IMG_6980.jpg

I was super duper happy to be on this ride with my love and to know that we still had the whole wonderful day ahead of us in our favorite place in the whole wide world!

IMG_9143.jpg

After we got off, I had to take a picture by the new sign!

IMG_6981.jpg

While we were on the TTA (it'll always be that to me), we saw that Mickey and Minnie were doing a meet and greet right by Space Mountain in this little secluded area. Perfect! It didn't seem that many people even knew that this area existed; we definitely would not have known had we not seen it, so we went to go stand in line to get our pictures taken with them. Of course, when we got there, it was time for them to switch out, so we just waited a few minutes. I took a video of their walking hand in hand though. So cute! I also like how the CM nicely corrected the little boy who was playing with the line dividers.

I was telling Mickey and Minnie that we had been to Disney World last year as boyfriend and girlfriend and that now we were engaged and that we'd be back soon when we were married. I think Mickey had just looked at my ring.

Then he had to shake Howard's hand. Look at Minnie already posing.

With the famous Disney couple!

After this encounter, we headed to the Space Mountain gift shop so that we could wait for the 3 to finish their ride.

(BTW, in case you're bored, I have been updating my 2010 TR! The link is in my signature.)

I'm glad that you guys made it through the storm okay.

I love the Peoplemover. Just such a nice ride around Tomorrowland. I'm the opposite of you though. It was always the Peoplemover to me, and when they changed it to the TTA it was just weird. :rotfl:

My VMK name was SDixie. I loved playing, although I never really talked to anyone much, so I wouldn't expect anyone to remember me. I had some cool stuff toward the end. It was sad when they closed it.

I've always called it the TTA and Peoplemover just seems strange, but whatever you call it, it's a great alternative to Space Mountain. I like how you can see inside Space Mountain without riding it.

What a great score on Buzz Lightyear! When I play, I'm happy if I get 99,999.

Me too! I was so worried. I lost sense of time because I was so anxious about it.

I guess I don't remember the Peoplemover much. When I was growing up, I used to call it "the blue cars," so that's why I never learned it as the Peoplemover! In my family, we still refer to it as the blue cars!

that pic of you 4 is adorable!!:goodvibes

Thanks! I'm still kind of weirded out by the costumed characters because I don't know what they're thinking on the inside. Only sometimes do I think they're the real Mickey and Minnie ... mainly when others are visiting with them!

Howard played VMK too; I got him into it! It was so fun being able to play together. When we started playing VMK, we weren't together (we had dated before that, but at that point, we were broken up). After playing for a while, our avatars used to flirt with each other. Haha, I guess it was an easy way for us to flirt but blame it on little Weird and Ninja! The last link in my signature shows how we printed out our flats and laminated them to take pictures in the real world!

I talked to a few people here and there on VMK but mainly people I knew from the VMK section of DIS. I met with a lot of people to trade. And then I'd play with people for quests. My one bad memory is that on the last day of VMK, I lent my Inferno to someone to take a picture, and he stole it from me. He even recorded a video on YouTube saying that he stole it from me. Although it clearly didn't mean anything since it closed later that night, it left a bad taste in my mouth because I was just trying to be nice and a young boy still felt the need to be mean.

I'm so used to TTA. Plus, Howard and I refer to the first time we dated as FTA - first time around, so this is TTA - this time around.

Playing Buzz is so much fun! I just like beating my own score. I get upset when my score decreases throughout the day, haha. I take it too seriously.
