Has anyone read Disneywar? I've just got my copy from Amazon & it looks really interesting, basically a history of Disney since Eisner started I think.
I'll post a review once I've read it. Make take me a while, it's a huge book!

DisneyWar looks excellent- at least according to the various Disneyana sites on the web; apparantly shows Eisner for what he really is........an egomaniac and control freak who gains pleasure from ruining feature animation and theme parks :guilty: . Looking forward to hearing about what you think of it.

I'll have to wait until after my trip in July to get my copy I think- it's unlikely to be on sale in the parks!! :teeth:

I haven't Lenny but I'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

Have started to read it. So far I'm on Chapter 4.
The history and ethos that exisited before and after Eisner's arrival is interesting :teeth:

I read a review of this in Time Magazine when we were in Antigua in March, It looks very interesting, I may get myself a copy for when I go on maternity leave in September. :flower:

I'm just about on the last chapter of this book and have really enjoyed reading it, in fact I'd nearly go as far as to say that it was unputdownable. I was worried that as it is a "business" book that it might be quite a dry read but I'm glad to say it was nothing of the sought. It really displays Eisner as an egotist plotting against rivals and making (major) decisions on a whim. Bob Iger dosen't fare too well either, portrayed as a lap dog to Eisner.

I must admit it that it left me worrying about the future of Disney but I wonder if that was the writers intention 'cause there's little critisism of Roy Disney or Stanley Gold but I plan to read Esiner's book next to try to get a bit more of a balanced view as I think the truth probably lies somewhere between the 2.

I ordered my copy from ASmazon.com since .co.uk did not have it listed :confused3

Just finished reading DisneyWar and I have to say it was a fascinating and illuminating read. Although I'm not an expert on the financial side of things some of the bonuses and severance packages paid to executives was obscene - I thought only Premier League footballers got paid that much!

Though Eisner deserves a lot of credit for turning Disney around, the second part of this book seems a long catalogue of frivoulous payments made by him seemingly on a whim, and overriding others to turn down various film and tv projects that went on to be box office smashes.

This is a great book but probably not a holiday read, it's hard to put down and frankly there are much more appealing distractions on offer!
