On Economy, they all start the same time and you can choose which one you want to watch as well as scrolling between the channels.

They end roughly the same time as well and then there's this time with a blank screen until they start all over again. You can easily watch at least three films going out.

You can also find out in advance what is films are going to be on by looking onthe virgin atlantic website - just remember they change on the 1st of the month!

We have just returned, flying with Virgin in and out of Miami. I don't know whether the airport makes a difference to the aircraft used.

On the outbound journey we were in one of Virgin's newer planes with individually controlled entertainment - there was a choice of about 40 films, plus TV, radio, cartoons and games. Each passenger had, effectively, their own personal in-built DVD player and could start / pause / exit their own entertainment as and when they wished. It was brilliant! (Almost good enough to make you wish the flight was longer LOL!)

On the return, however, we were in the type of aircraft we've previously experienced with Virgin, where the choice of films was more limited (but still fairly varied) and they all started at the same time.

Does anyone know which planes go from Manchester. I like the sound of individually controlled entertainment!

Virgin use their oldest planes out of Manchester, so it is unlikely that their new entertainment system (called V.Port) will be installed on those planes for some time yet, if at all.

Shirely, you must have been lucky to get V.Port on your flight to Miami as I think none of the planes whichh normally fly out of Gatwick have V.Port fitted yet. I guess Virgin switched aircraft for some reason for your flight.

I didn't realise that - maybe I'll think of flying LHR-MIA rather than LGW-MCO in the future. The longer transfer to Orlando might be worth it for a decent plane and a short journey at the UK end of the journey.

As Libby says, our Miami flights were in/out of Heathrow.

We saved a lot by taking these flights because of a combination of date and availability (when Orlando flights were full), but we came to the conclusion that we would avoid flying in/out of Miami in future if possible. I certainly wouldn't be swayed by choice of entertainment system

Picking up our Dollar car from Miami made us appreciate just how simple the set-up at Orlando is! Returning the car was slightly better (although not easy to find the rental depot), and Miami was a great airport from which to depart, but I'd still rather battle with the MCO crowds on balance.

We flew on the new virgin fleet on our recent trip to New York - the V.Port system is amazing - as well as the excellent movie/tv system there is also

* An extensive cd collection to choose from and listen to.

* A dedicated games system - including several multi-player games where you can play against the other passengers.

* A fully interactive sky-map.

* A personal e-mail system - allowing mail to be sent between passengers on the plane.

How cool is all that - our flight seemed to pass really quickly !!!

If only they would fly on the Orlando route !!!!

It offers Video on Demand where passengers can watch or listen to what they want and can start, pause or rewind their chosen movie, TV show or CD. It features:
10.4 inch screen in Upper Class
9 inch screen in Premium Economy / Economy
300 hours of Video on Demand content
14 channels of Audio on Demand and a jukebox with over 45 CDs ranging from Chopin to Elvis Presley to PJ Harvey. Passengers can listen to an entire CD or just an individual track.

A selection of audio books
15 computer games, of which 3 are multi-player and one, Battlemail Kung-fu, has been developed exclusively for Virgin
A Quick Find facility that allows passengers to look for films starring their favourite movie star, comedy shows or language programming
A dedicated Kid’s Zone that has it’s own menus and contains programming suitable for children and a parental block
The system will allows passengers to send emails and SMS messages.
IMap is a brand new fully interactive map application - not only can passengers track their flight, but they can also roam around the world, zoom in on different destinations and points of interest.
