Hi Lenny.. I have stayed at the Swan many times and just recently stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. We thought it was great and the beds so comfortable........I like the smallness of the Swan over the Dolphin.. but that is just me, and the convenience of being able to walk into Epcot through the International Gateway... I do not think you will be sorry by staying there.. I have had only positive experiences there.. Good luck with your choice.

We stayed at the Swan for the first time last month after 10+ trips at "Disney" hotels. We loved it and the locations can't be beat. We were lucky enough to get a renovated room with a heavenly bed and it was so comfortable.

I'd definately try to get a rennovated room. The Swan has a great location. I'd say it depends on what sort of price you can get for a room - great price then sure! There is a review of the Swan w/pictures at this LINK - click on the Newsletter page for the review. I've stayed there myself and I would again if the price was right.

We just spent 8 glorious nights there and I also spent 3 nights in December, my family says this is the only hotel they will stay in from now on, does that tell you something? both times I got a renovated room and the heavenly beds ...let me tell you are VERY comfy!!

Just back and had stayed at POR before and loved it-the Swan beats it hands down. To be able to WALK back to our room after the Illuminations fireworks was fantastic. The heavenly beds were luxurious and the staff was friendly and helpful. Like Opal says, Location, Location, Location. If you are doing Epcot and MGM, this is a great place to stay.

I thought everyone on the dis had already been subjected to my plight at the swan. (sorry)

We arranged to have a studio suite for 10 nites, (6 months in advance) left request about location / view etc.. as a high priority for us. Told there are few studio suites so that they would keep that in mind. Was told by swan room had a balcony. When we checked in we had 3rd floor, no blacony, no view, looking at canal, back of bw construction if you looked down it was the kitchen help break area, and a total tree view else where. The room had a strange odor?, The bathroom had a used towel on the towel rack, and a used bar of soap in the tub soap dish, plus short curly hairs in tub. We called no one came to clean bathroom, we also called to have sofa folded open for bed, when finally came to room did not talk or acknowledge we where in room, acted very strange? Just very weird unhappy start so went back to front desk asking for a move to a clean room with a view> unavailable > told ok will take any other room don't need the suite > unavailable > said how about in the morning if we stick it out tonight >>> told "you can call down tommorow and see for yourself, but that's all I can do, and gave me a phone #! Then I asked about moving to dolphin > told unavailable. Was really getting fed up cause they where making no attempt at helping us in the least. I've never had to call anywhere myself daily, that they could not do something in the computer and block something off or hold something, or promise us something, anything? I pointed out I was a gold starwood member and they could of cared less. said try calling tommorrow or the next day and maybe you can move, we will try to send someone to clean the bathroom. Finally we went upstairs they came cleaned the bathroom and the next day I checked out and had called disney moved to beach club had a great time! We also had the swan ressie for oct. 2002 for 14 nites club level and cancelled that the same day, moved it to the poly. Also, the swan is a cigar haven for anyone into cigar smoking! the back entrance is the cigar bar, and a gauntlet for those of us with asthma trying to hold our breath as we run by. But if your into smoking, you will certainly feel right at home at the swan.

People wonder will it have the magic? I really hoped it would, because I'm an RN, and it's a great deal! BUT I definatly noted a large ratio of business types and very few families or children at all at the swan. I have stayed at the dolphin, and did have a good experience there.

I did recieve a letter from the swan manager after returning home with 2 free nights but I really have no intention of using it. I did request to talk to him when we where there and could not. But I wrote a letter ( e-mail) to starwood when I got home.

Sorry for re-reporting this I promise last time. MKY

MKY - feel free to post it - it is the only way people get every ones point of view. The rest of us (me as an example) always cram how much we love the Swan down everyones throat. Not everyone has good experiences & others do need to hear both sides of a story.

To be honest, I hate smoking and I didn't notice any problem walking through the cigar area - ventilation seemed good to me.

We had no problems with our room. The only trouble we had at all was when my son couldn't pick up his own package from the desk one day (had picked up all of mine every other day). He was mad as HEdoublehockeysticks but it was pretty amusing after the fact since they let him keep picking up mine but not his own!

I do really sympathize with your problems though - we just came back from our weekend in WiDells. On Sat we were out of our room before 10. We came back at 5 and a note was stuck in our door that it wasn't cleaned because we had the DND sign up - wrong - it was on the vanity under the toothpaste where I had left it! The maid watched us leave as she stood at the doorway to the room 2 doors down! It really irritated me. The manager didn't want to give us a discount for that night because we already received a discount rate from the room booked on the internet. She insisted that she saw the DND sign on our door too - hello???? you would remember one out of all the rooms? Besides the fact that the DND sign was NOT there!

We couldn't ask for a room switch because the motel was full - we probably wouldn't have anyway - it was just the point of it!

Regardless - sorry I took you off topic- I just needed to vent myself about my weekend!!!!

WOW! Sorry you had such a rough time, but bad things happen on occassion everywhere. But, I do understand why you will not stay there again.

The first time we stayed there, it was with the entertainment rate for a jr. suite. (that's what they called it at the time) They said that they were booked and could not give us that type of room and only offered us a "parlor" room. (no beds, they would be roll aways in for DH, DS and myself.......NOT!) They sent us to the Dolphin for a room and the Dolphin looked at us like we had 6 heads. They called the Swan and, infront of us, gave whoever the best reeming I have heard in a long time. The Dolphin sent us back with our room number and all we had to do was get the room keys at the Swan. The entire time I was telling them that what they were doing to find us a room was not satifactory "what are you going to do for us?" We got a free night on the spot, $50 pp in meal vouchers and a few other things to tide us over. DH hated it, but I will endure quite a bit if they are willing to make it up to us. (the room was $175 a night + $150 in food + the other perks we got)

DS and I will be staying there again in May with a priceline bid. I have never had a problem with any of the places we have stayed using Priceline, so I am not too worried about check in. I am sure we will have a wonderful time.
