It's not really that important to me, although the two times I've stayed at POFQ, I really lucked out. The first stay, I was looking out onto the river, the second time over a courtyard. For me, the view doesn't really matter. I'm only in my room in the early morning and at night.

I think for us the view is one of the least important parts - we spend most of our time at the parks and the time we do spend at the resort isn't really in our room, it's renting bikes, shopping, eating, swimming, doing the kid activities, etc. We're not really in our room other than to get dressed, shower and sleep.

I am also going to say "It Depends".

If I am at a moderate - I could care less what my view is - just give me the least expensive.

BUT .... with any of the deluxes in the Epcot area - the view is very important.

Why you ask?? It is because of the fantastic PHOTOS I can get from my balcony on the higher floors!! I photo the right, and the left, and the center. The photos I will always keep, so it is worthwhile to get something other than a parking lot. Each year it is a bit different.

I usually vacation solo, and I use my balcony to check the weather,
and I also keep my thermometer out there.

We are in the depends camp too. Our Disney trips have mostly been with children we wanted to go to sleep once back in the room. We didn't want any view to distract them from the shower and their beds! :rotfl: This next trip will just be dh and I, and I can see us enjoying a balcony, an adult beverage and a nice view enough to happily pay extra for it.

I fall into the "depends" category as well. If we are just doing an overnight trip the view is not important so I just book whatever I get a good deal on. When we do stay for a few days and plan to spend some time in the room I would then consider what would be the most enjoyable view to sit back, relax, and enjoy.

The view is important to me. We consider our resort part of our vacation. The GCV and owning DVC has spoiled us for sure. :thumbsup2 Where I lay my head is as important as how I spend my day. We break daily when at WDW and love our pool time is as well. I'm an early riser and love to enjoy my coffee on the deck and take it all in.

When we stayed at values I don't think we even knew what view we had. We asked for a room as far from the main building as possible (for noise) Once we started staying at Mods we paid for a water view and enjoyed it,
At CSR for my b-day we had a quiet pool view in the courtyard at Ranchos7B and we just loved it. We sat in the walkway later at night and looked over the courtyard, cacti and dry riverbeds. The theming there is fantastic for adults.
My last trip at POR I upgraded to a river view but I was away from the room from rope drop to midnight most nights and I didn't really feel it was worth it.
This December I have booked AoA in a LM. I am going solo the whole trip for the first time and it is really important to me to have a lake view although they can't guarantee one at a value. I have put in my request and I'll ask again when I get there. It would be nice later at night to come back to the room and sit out on the walkway and look over Hour Glass lake.

not that important for me.

We tend to spend a lot of time in our hotel especially if we go during the hot summer months, but I'd never pay for a "preferred view".

Since I stay mainly in villas now, I know the views are not going to be real spectacular.
I've even gotten the dreaded "dumpster" view at WL and been perfectly happy with it.

We had a room with an awesome view for our trip in December 2011. It was at the Beach Club on the concierge floor right over the lobby. We could watch the boats come and go and people walking around. This was a trip that Disney "comp'd" for two nights. They definitely spoiled us and now next time we will probably upgrade for the view/services.
It was nice to read, have some before dinner drinks and watch people go by......

If you plan on spending a significant amount of time in your room, I imagine the view need to be at least eye pleasing.

We wake up in our room and go to sleep, so we're never bothered by views. Which is why we usually opt for value resorts. We rarely spend time in the room or at the hotel for that matter, so spending the extra for moderate or deluxe accommodations would be silly when we would rather spend it on souvenirs to bring back home or cocktails and beer around the world at Epcot!

When staying at a value or moderate, we don't opt for paying for a view. We don't stand in front of the window and admire the view when in the room.

If we stay at a place with a balcony that we know we'd be using (especially AKL--haven't stayed there yet, but I think the Savannah view would be fantastic), we'd consider paying to have our balcony face a good view (animals, park, water, etc.). The deluxes are out of our price range at WDW, but we do get a water view balcony at the beach every year and it's so relaxing to sit there and enjoy the water right from our room.

We generally don't pay for a "view" but if we get a nice view we make a point to enjoy it. Otherwise, when we get back to the room at the end of the day we're so tired that the "view" from the pillow is the only thing that matters. (and it's pretty dark when your eyes are closed) :earsboy:

I usually want a good view. I pay for it and don't request anything.

The time it was most important was when I specifically booked a water view for mom, who was making her last trip to WDW. She couldn't spend much time in the parks and said she'd be happy to just do a little and spend a lot of time sitting on the balcony - reading, reflecting and looking at the view.

So, OF COURSE, that is the one time Disney screwed up and didn't give me the view I paid for. They promised we could switch the next day, but then that got screwed up, too.

It finally became more trouble than it was worth...and upset my mother...so we gave up.

I attempted many times to get that money refunded...but then they offered something for the next trip...after I'd already told them that the previous one was her last. I had to hang up, I was so angry and upset.

I've received several room upgrades over the years that I didn't pay for, so financially, it's a wash.

But I still get ticked with them when I think about it.

If the view is seriously important to you...now or never kind of thing, stay on top of them. Don't check in until you're getting it.
