If their serivce is like First Choice, I would say if the price is right go for it.

They were very good when we went.

Only downside is that you are at the front of the plane and economy ticket holders were queing in our space for toilets all the time. At one point someone was actually standing in my footwell !

For me the PE offerings are all good, comes down to price everytime.

First Choice is owned by Thomson. We have flown with First Choice Premium in the past, but it was before they were owned by Thomson. It was wonderful and comparable when you factor in the difference in cost to Virgin and in some ways better. Now, Thomson, hmmm. We had a horrendous experience with them a few years back, albeit, in economy. We swore never to fly with them again. We flew with Virgin, in economy, and the experience was almost as horrific. So, we are booked with First Choice Premium for our next trip.

For us, the way we work it out is that if we can get First Choice Premium for the same as, and in some cases less than Virgin Economy, then we go for it. I would probably not fly economy with First Choice but I highly rated their Premium Service last time we flew with them.

We used Thompson PE in October 2008. We were going to flying thompson anyway as we wanted a flight from B'ham

And we loved it. Boarded plane 1st. And given drinks before the rest of the flight were sat down.

Loved the extra space. Also ment that we were off the plane 1st. So no q'ing at passport control etc....

You also get a dedicated checkin at B'Ham and Sanford. Didnt matter really matter at B'Ham as there was nobody there when we got there.

But when we checked in at sanford it was great as the normal Q was a massive snake and there was nobody in the PE Q.

You also get to use the Palm Lounge in Sanford included.

When we book for 2011 we will be going PE (all 8 of us)

The only down side is that all the meals are Adult only. Which we didnt know when we went last time. And we had my DS who was only 32 months old then. And they had no spare children meals. However they did "find" him lots of bits that he liked.

So next time will will be prepared as my DD will be about 28 months when we next go.

I keep hearing about First Choice Premium customers being able to use the Royal Palm Lounge. How do we find out more about this? We haven't had any documentation to suggest this, but then we aren't flying until summer. Is there something with your tickets?

Also, are you saying that you can't get children's meals when you fly premium. Last time we flew with them was before the kids were born but there were some kids sat near us and they had kids meals. Has that changed now? This is a big problem since I have DS3 and DD2 now.

When you get your tickets for Thomson, they come in a small booklet along with the luggage stickers etc, it also has a voucher for the royal palm lounge, all you do is take the ticket to the desk at the lounge and they will give you a rest band so that you can come and go as you please.
I may be wrong but I think you you go premium, you get the tickets for the lounge free, if not i think you have to pay for them.

This is obviously my experience form nov last year so things may have changed.

We've flown T'fly Premium (B'ham to Sanford) in Aug 2008 and 2009. Our daughters both got kids meals (aged 4 and 6) which were ok. I don't think they would have liked the adult option though. We didn't pre book the kid's meal option btw.

We have just upgraded to premium. having been dithering about it since booked the holiday last year, but now know the executive lounge is included that has tipped it as a yes :goodvibes

Hi new here so hope this goes okay. I have just upgraded to PE from Ncl- Sanford in July and the Thomson customer care service guy told me that the lounge is extra now. I hope he's wrong but that was in the last 15 minutes. Great forum though.

First of all welcome to the Dis :welcome:

The guy I spoke with said that the Thomson holiday people don't know about it but the Thomson airline people do and they confirmed that we do have access - I shall wait for the tickets to arrive before I am 100% sure though!

When are you travelling in July?

Thanks Trixster.I hope the airline people are right. We go July 16th for 3 weeks, can't wait.

We are flying Thomson PE in May from Gatwick. It was a good price, and a lot cheaper than the BA/Virgin equivalent. There is no mention of free access to the lounge at Sanford on our booking agreement though.
One grievance though, and that is the weight allowance. With Thomson economy, it's 20 kgs, and with PE, it is increased to a "massive" 23kgs. Pathetic, but still better than Thomas Cook's paltry 15 kgs! :scared1:
