I found the CP to be a great experience for myself. I had never lived away from home before my first program, and had never had a "real" job. So I got both when I went to FL for my CP. I learned a lot of useful life skills, made so many great friends (many of whom I am still in touch with), and because of the CP I figured out what I wanted to do in life after I finished school (I was underclared before I went to FL). I am so glad to be back in FL now, and I hope to go FT at Disney after my current CP ends.

Overall, I thought the CP was an EXCELLENT experience and I'm highly considering applying for Fall 2010.

I had never had any roomates before so I wasn't too sure what that would be like and in all honesty, my first batch of roomates were rather difficult. And participated in activities that could have gotten ME termed just by living there so I moved. My 2nd batch of roomates were incredible!!!!

Just meeting people from all over the world was eye-opening in itself and most deft taught me more about myself than i probably would have ever learned any where else.

I worked in hospitality front desk, so the job itself i was pretty familiar with, but the guests that I encountered were another story :) I lovvvveeeedddd the guests but I was used to business travelers, not leisure and they deft kept me on my toes:)

It was so interesting to get guests from all over the world, too.... and TOTALLY CRAZY when I checked in an old childhood friend from my hometown... that was insane!!!

My parents pretty much did everything for me while living at home, so of course... cooking for yourself, doing the grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry and stuff like that taught me a lot of discipline.

Ummmm basically I just didn't know what to expect, I was just hoping that no matter what came of the college program that I would have fun doing it... and boy, DID I EVER!

I think one of the biggest things that surprised me was how much fun working day-to-day was. The guest interaction was GREAT! I also didn't expect to make life-long friends. I did expect to make friends and all, but I never thought I would miss those girls and guys sooo much.

Another thing I was surprised about is how critical I've become of other amusement parks. :)

Haha isn't that the truth!! Even going to universal I was soooo critical. They have look a like name tags for their employees... try to do "photopass"... and pin collecting, seriously? haha...

But yeah every park i go to I compare it to Disney and it's just not quite.... the same.

I knew there would be a lot of people from around the world, but I did not expect as many as there were! It was fun - I learned a lot of phrases in other languages such as Chinese! hehe. There were multiple times when I would go to the bus stop and be the ONLY American there. Also, often times on the bus I would only hear other languages, not always English. It was kind of neat to not be in the majority at times.

What surprised me was that near the last month or so I started missing home like CRAZY! All I wanted was to see my friends from back home and to see my family and everything about MA that I missed - such as mountains lol. I never thought I could miss home while spending my time in Disney! It just didn't seem possible. It got to the point were I was just anxious to leave. Work became tedious. But in the last week, I felt VERY bad for trying to rush time. I didn't want it to end. And now that I'm at home, I feel like I really rushed the end of my program and now I wish I had extended! I miss being down there VERY much and I would give anything to go back. It's easy to go from reality to fantasy but very hard to go from fantasy to reality.

Everything about the CP was an amazing experience. I have stories to last a lifetime!

I loved working, but at times I was surprised at how some people had such bad work ethic. It isn't that hard to do a job complete.

One thing that really surprises me now is how much I miss it. I was so excited to come, and now I can't wait to go back. I'm having horrible withdraws!

I was shocked by how the buses were run.

I worked at the MK during the last half of my program, and mostly closing as I worked a popular attraction. Catching a bus home at night was a nightmare. 90% of the CP's and ICP's that worked there were getting off at the same time and having to cram on to one bus that comes around every thirty minutes if you're lucky.
Then when the buses came, everyone would run to the buses and push and shove, and then clammer to get aboard. It was nuts. Unless you were into acting like an animal, you weren't getting on at least the first few buses that came. I remember one time I had to wait four buses before being able to get on a bus without having to fight my way on.

All I have to say for anyone doing or planning on doing the program is bring your own car!!! It will save you soo much headache!!

Oh God the buses from the Magic Kingdom still give me nightmares. The only thing you could do to prevent yourself from being there as four buses came and went was run to the bus, wedge yourself in, and make at least fifty brand new enemies.....all that just to get a spot where you are so clustered that that amount of lack of personal space is grounds for marrage in some cultures. Not fun.

I am currently on my program and I have to say the best part about doing the CP is meeting all kinds of people. I am a social person to begin with but I'm not great at speaking to random people and I've made some AWESOME friends with my neighbors.
I do have to say that there is one roomie who is in my apartment that NO one likes. She has started drama and Its annoying to have to even be polite to her. I am getting used to taking the good with the bad. As for the job. I am at World Of Disney in DTD and I LOVE IT. Its awesome and I wouldnt change it for the world.

Hmmm.... the thing(s) that surprised me the most lol

1. The sometimes "unpleasant" journey on the American Coach busses. I never knew the importance of having your own car until being body to body on various people at 1am - people you do not know, mind you haha

2. How little I'd actually get to wear my own clothes. I definitely overpacked while still hitting up the stores for other disney merchandise after getting on the program

3. I also never realized how much I would miss the program a couple years after completing it

the things I learned and wish I had known before my program are prob. a little diffferent from everyone else.

1) I wish I had known that most of my paycheck would have been spent on drinks and tips at the Adventurer's Club. If I had known...I would have...oh who am I kidding....nothing would have changed lol.

2) working in entertainment...I had NO IDEA that I could sweat from the tip of my nose. Kinda creepy the first couple of times it happened.

Ah, so perhaps my experiences on the NYC subway/bus system during rush hour, WILL come in handy for me.

So how much clothes would you suggest bringing?

I'd like to know, as well. I have a tendency to over-pack as it is.

Enough so that when you have to dress up to go out you have more than 2 outfits. enough outfits to go play it the parks, and of course that all important business disney look for random events you need to dress up.

but as for work...you'll be given your clothes. You can either dress at work or go to work already dressed....unless your in entertainment.

closets are small, but there's enough room to fit A LOT!
