Also was surprised when race Rock closed - it was always busy and the food was fine!!

I agree with captain EO, I used to love that, I remember being young and being scared eveytime i watched it hehe.

Ghostbusters I miss as well.

River country, def prefered it to any other water park in orlando.

Wild west show at uni used to be pretty good as well

the character bus that used to drive around World Showcase

They don't do this any more? I was looking forward to seeing them with DD next year.

Will also miss the Dixie Stampede, we were lucky enough to take part and still have our winners medals

What I will miss seeing is the Castle with all the 50 year decorations on, I have never seen it 'plain' and it looked great with all the gold on its spires etc ....... but I can't wait to see it again

I read once that in the MK they used to do a special hour first thing in a morning were certain characters would ride the rides with the children, I'm sure it was called something like "Special Openings".

It never used to interest me before having children but now so wish our little ones could ride say Dumbo with Mickey or Donald

I too missed out on Pleasure Island and been able to celebrate "New Years Eve" every night.

Yes forgot that one, we went in 1995 and really enjoyed it, went a few years later and it was dead.

The Mercado when it was in it's prime.
Cricketer's Arms when it used to be good.

Nice to see I am not the only one to enjoy the Mercado (mainly in mid 90's) before it started to go downhill

We went to Dixie Stampede one time and always intended to go again. Not the cheapest night out but great fun. We also used to love Darryl's on I Drive we ate there three or four times every trip and Epcot definitely isn't the same without the wand

Definitely Mission to Mars. It seemed so impressive when I was 12!

I also miss the old Fountainview Cafe in Epcot. It was a nice place for a coffee and something sweet and cakey.

I still have a glass that my parents got on a trip to rosie's its heavy cut glass and it just brings back so many memories every time I used it. Think we either got it in 86 or 92 and even though its been in the dishwasher many times it still has the writting on it.

And yes I was really gutted about the bates motel and the New Hard rock was just not the same.

Can I also add that I miss the Yogi bear show/ride and King Kong last time I was at Universal it really seemed to be lacking....

Anyone else remember Circus World (near Cypress Gardens)?? - that was a LONG time ago now but I can still picture it - tacky but great!!

God i remember circus world was sooo quiet compared to disney and sea world.I remeber it was the first time i had ever encountered a ball pit soon shot out when i found a massive spider in there!!!

This thread is bring back loads of memories

Ive not been to WDW for 6 years and didnt do Universal that trip so its much longer since I went there but remember King Kong well. Im sure Ive heard the ET ride isnt there now either - that was great but the queue was awful

I also remember the sky thing at MK .

I hadnt realised Discovery Island had closed either - it was a nice relaxing day away from the chaos in the other parks

I also loved the Mercado and enjoyed many delicious meals there

The Wizards Mystery Fun House....

Went twice in 81 as a kid when there was just MK open. Through childs eyes it was an absolute blast. Still remember the talking skull that invited you to "step inside and hold your arms out in front out of you" (into a mirrored maze).
Great times!

I'm glad some else remembers this. i remember going as a kid.
when i took hubby there in 2000, and it was looking a bit tatty and worn, but still had a blast.
When we were on vacation in 2004 (ds first time) i couldn't find a leaflet for it in the hotel lobby. i asked the lady behind the attractions desk about it, and she gave me a strange look and said "ma'am, i've never heard of any such place"

Spoodles is gone? Blast, that was always on my "to do" list.

A new restaurant serving 'mediterranean' style food is due to open in the former Spoodles restaurant in the autumn.

It will be run by Cat Cora, who I understand is some kind of celebrity chef in USA.

From the descriptions of the new restaurant that I have read, is sounds just like Spoodles with a name change!!!

I would watch the restaurants section of this BBS later this year to see reviews of the new restaurant.

So many everchanging features. We loved King Kong, however if this was not replaced we may never of had the awesome Mummy ride.
River country was loved by us.

We still have 2 Rosie's glasses from 1993 - kept as a momento and not used for fear of the transfer wearing

The ET ride is still at Universal Studios as far as I am aware!

THe lion king puppet show where Mickey's philarmagic is now
The Pocahontas stage show cannot rmember the location
The Hunchback stage show in Hollywood studios
The Pocahontas animal show at Animal Kingdom (not the best but now gone)

And I am sure a few more will have to watch some of the older video's

The Beaver tail's that were for sale at Canada what a lovely desert that was but very messy.

Just a bit bored and got to thinking about the things from Orlando that are no more and I miss.

Race Rock. Great restaurant, excellent food, loved it and miss it.
The skyway ride in WDW. I know it was just a cable car ride, but I liked it. Was relaxing and a great way to see the park.
Back to the future. Awesome ride. Sad I'll never get to do it again.
Kong ride. Just fab. Rip.
I'm sure there are more, just can't think at mo.

Things that have gone that I never got to do and wish I had:

20,000 leagues under the sea.

Anybody ever stumble into (and out of!) the Big Bamboo bar on 192? Now that was fun! A piece of real Americana!
