I totally loved the wand and mickey hand at Epcot...:wizard:

I was so disappointed when it was removed, I asked the CM where it went, they said it didnt fit the theme...I disagree....I loved it and I wish it was still there, the ball looked so much better with it IMO!!

Who remembers the "Tomorrow's Child" ending to Spaceship Earth? *Sigh* Oh and Kitchen Kabaret, which then became Food Rocks at The Land?

I'm reading this thread thinking - oh yes that was good - so many things I've forgotten.

I agree that Captain EO was much better and wish they would bring it back. We also went to Discovery Island and River Country many moons ago - and the water was very cold in one of the pools!

The cookies at The Gourmet Pantry were much better than the ones they do now at Goofys Candy store:sad2: I remember there alway used to be older people serving there and it took forever, but you had plenty of time to look at all the goodies.

Not that I miss it - but on our very first trip we went to a funny house called Xanadu on the 192 - least said the better I think - but does anyone remember it?

When did this close? we went in 1993, there can't have been many gone around it after us it was dropping to bits. Can't believe we wasted time going.
I had never heard of Captain EO until MJ died.
Food Rocks for some reason always missed it, saw it once then next visit it was gone.
Skyway at MK is probably main thing I wish was still there.
Liked King Kong but lines were always too long so only did it twice.
20,000 leagues just got off thinking why. Fully understand why it went.
Mandy, Tapestry of Nations parade none of us liked.
We all liked the Mickey hand at Epcot so miss that.
Miss the characters at EPCOT arriving by bus.
The thing that was the biggest mistake was the pink castle/cake.

Bates Motel :scared1: and the Original Hard Rock cafe in Universal Studios
Rosie O'Gradys and those can can dancers on the bar:drinking1
Mickey Mania parade

We loved the castle cake, what baffled us for years was the 26 candles on the cake and it was celebrating 25 years, thought it was because they were planning on leaving it up for another year.Until a few years later were told by some American friends that in the USA they always put an extra candle on there birthday cakes for good luck

Things that are no longer in Orlando?

Me of course. And that is something to be very sorry about.

To be honest I don't know most of the ones that are being spoken about on here. Although we have been several times we only started to go in 2005 and I think in that time the only ride that has changed is BTTF at Universal - we did it once and swore never again.
Food wise we really miss Race Rock. It was the very first place we ever ate at in Florida so always had a special place for it when we went back.
We also went to a place on I-Drive - close to Wet 'n' Wild - where you paid on admission and the food was set out in different styles (Chinese, Italian, American - that sort of thing). You just grabbed a plate and went for what you fancied - or did a mix and match. Again this was there on our first trip and we really enjoyed it - but it wasnt there less than a year later.

Back to the future will not be missed by me I nearly broke my arm on there

I never knew they had Captain EO in WDW

I only saw it at DLRP and I saw michael himself there

Hitchcock Theatre - the art of making movies at Universal Studios.
Psycho home tour at US.
Funtastic World Of Hanna Barbera also at US, replaced by Jimmy Neutron, miss Yogi Bear so much :)
FAO schwarz - so many good memories of walking over there when Joshua was a baby
The Mercado when it was in it's prime.
Cricketer's Arms when it used to be good.
The Florida Mall when I used to like it there, just doesn't seem the same these days.
Goodings supermarket on the 192 in Kissimmee.

Johnny - I'd forgotten all about Hitchcock and that was a GREAT show!! - ooh this thread is beginning to make me a bit sad!!:sad1::lmao:

The Stars Hall of Fame Wax Museum, way back in 1982 my dad got a bit lost driving in Orlando and we came across what looked, from the road, like a fairly rickety attraction. As it was pouring with rain we decided to give it a go. After paying for admission we were ushered into a small movie theatre which did not look very promising, they showed some clips from classic films and then all of a sudden the screen opened up and we walked through it into a veritable wonderland of movie tableaux that knocked Madame Tussauds into a cocked hat.

Horizons and Journey into Imagination at Epcot - so much better than the rides that replaced them.

Oscar Mayer (the world's smallest chef) on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, I have pictures of me and my sister with this tiny little chap back in the early 1980s.

Delta Dreamflight in Tomorrowland - for some reason I always really loved this fairly low key attraction, particularly the speed rooms.

The Wizards Mystery Fun House....

Went twice in 81 as a kid when there was just MK open. Through childs eyes it was an absolute blast. Still remember the talking skull that invited you to "step inside and hold your arms out in front out of you" (into a mirrored maze).

Also got happy childhood memories of Mission to Mars at MK Sponsored by (I think) Mcdonnel Douglas and in tomorrow land "Magic Carpet around the World"

Great times!

I'd forgotten the Stars Hall of fame - that was ages ago now wasn't it!!:lmao:

Am I the only one that is finding this thread a bit depressing!:lmao: - all the things that have gone and realising how long ago they were!!

Only in that it maks me realise how old I am. Some of the one's I listed were before Joshua was born. :)

We were only talking about this subject the other day - and the two things I miss are both Epcot based. Firstly the Tapestry of Nations parade (which still remains my fave parade) and secondly, the character bus that used to drive around World Showcase

I loved the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot its my favourite too:cool1:
I liked Captain EO too :3dglasses
It took me a while but once I was used to it I loved the Castle when it was a pink cake. What about the stunt show at Universal that used to be on in the afternoon on the lake with the speedboats.
