That last update was so sad! It sort of reminded me of the way Winnie the Pooh ends, with Christopher Robin growing up and all.

So cool that you all started your next Disney year! I can't believe how much bigger your boys look. Cute picture!

That's why I went with Pooh for the TR title! I'm a big fan and Tigger collector. The first line of the TR is from the "Pooh's Grand Adventure" movie. ;) There used to be more in the very first post, but I took it out. Too much to scroll through.

They are growing.. but not enough, it seems! Blake barely made the mark for Kali River Rapids on Friday.

I loved your ending (though, I didn't love that it happened). I may have gotten a bit choked up while you and Andrew were standing at the top of the train station. And Blake's song at the end was quite fitting.

My Andrew and I sing that song all the time! It's one of our favorites. The other day I was driving during rush hour and thought of how the guy talks about the Rat Race and totally sang Big Beautiful Tomorrow ALL the way to where I was going. LOL

Yay for starting your new year!!! :cool1: I hope we get a TR for this one too!

OMG - look at those boys!!!!!
They are not little......who has been on space mountain????

Blake loves that song! He's already been singing it this morning. Love that you were singing it in the car in traffic. I've always found it funny how the boys will bring up that show at such odd times. I get the lines about "Don't interrupt while Sarah's interrupting" and "Well ovens just don't clean themselves, ya know" from them way too much! If we say it looks like rain, Andy-Roo will starting talking about his lumbago not acting up! :lmao: I really think those two know every word now.

If I do another TR, it won't happen for quite a while. I don't want to end up tired of WDW as I try to work on writing about a year while I'm living it. KWIM?

They're growing! I don't know who has been on space mountain..?

Yay for another trip.:cool1:

The boys do look so much more grown up. Time goes by far too quickly.

I know you get to go fairly often so don't have to cram loads in each time but do you find the kids are better behaved / do better in the parks if you kind of let them decide where you're going, what to go on or do, go at their pace, etc??? I am hoping for next years trip to be mostly about the girls, sticking more with Disney and not doing much offsite so could do with some tips on how to not have meltdowns!!

We will have a double stroller just in case and I would like to take breaks too so that we can have some later nights. Though if my eldest DD is how she is now, we will constantly be on the carousel and watching 'castle party' as she calls it!

Also, I guess it helps a lot splitting up when Blake can't go on what Andrew is going on?

When you figure it out, let me know!!

Being able to go often certainly helps us, but every child is going to have their moments. Mine aren't angels! For us, it's all common sense stuff though and I don't think you should worry much. Make sure they're not too tired and take breaks when needed. Be sure they're still eating well and definitely stay hydrated! You're kinda forced to take a slower pace with children, too. If you plan to have a lot of waiting time, bring something along to distract them. Lines are the worst! The stroller will definitely help out. You know Disney is a lot of walking!

The boys have a lot of say in what and when we do things, but they know we do have final decision making power. For fun, I just asked Blake who decides what we do next when we're at WDW. He grinned and pointed at himself! :lmao: Maybe sometimes anyway.

More than anything, IMO, rules and manners don't disappear simply because we're at Disney. I think it's super important to have some behavior guidelines spelled out for them ahead of time and am always amazed at how parents let their children act there. (I'm sure they probably do that everywhere!)

If they do start to get overwhelmed, stay calm and just take a moment away from the crowds. You'll have a lot more to deal with than we really do, so I'm probably not the best to give advice. I can always leave and come back next week if they're being too crazy. You know your kids best, so I know you'll have a great trip! :goodvibes

A day of castle parties (How cute!) could be a lot of fun! ;)

Also, I guess it helps a lot splitting up when Blake can't go on what Andrew is going on?

Of course! I think it also helped a lot that Blake didn't know any different for so long. We started going often on his first birthday, so he'd been growing up with this. He was always so content in the stroller.. Not so much lately! He's definitely the more challenging child right now!

Thanks so much for your input and advice. I think us staying calm will be the most important thing!! Remembering to keep them hydrated too.

I'm completely with you on manners, etc. It is not difficult to say please or thank you, excuse me, can I have rather than I want, etc (adults included!). My whole family is going (parents, siblings, nieces) and luckily they are all on the kids about being polite so at least we aren't with anyone that will just give in to them or with other kids that have no manners. My sister is as strict on her daughter (and will be on the 2nd who is due soon) as we are with ours so fingers crossed they will mostly be ok.

I think I'll just hope for no meltdowns just as we get to the front of a 30/45 minute queue for princesses or fairies or the fab 5!!

For distracting them in queues, have you ever taken bubbles? I know this would entertain my girls but worry they would annoy other people? :confused3

You were there on the 23rd? No fair not warning someone cuz we were there at the same time and could have had a dis meet :) I bought my AP and after some bad moments during the trip I am not sure when or if I will be using it again.

I must've been annoyed with rude kids when I typed my reply. They do get so crazy at WDW though! I never thought yours' would have such issues, of course, but it is important. If you think a meltdown is unacceptable, you might be able to keep it in check a little better? I have no idea what I'm talking about. They'll do great!

I wouldn't do bubbles. With the tight spaces, I could see somebody having a fit over them, even if they are harmless. CMs use them just about everywhere! I've never seen guests with them while waiting anyway. We mostly talk to them, play "I Spy" type games, or the boys play with cameras. It's kinda goofy, but simply asking one of the boys to count something (lights, fence posts, etc) works really well at times. I have strange kids. Using line time for a packed snack works for us, too.

Oh no! What happened?? I do hope you decide to go back, but I can completely understand feeling that way at times. The first night we were there, I wished he hadn't gotten the APs at all! (Ever see someone removed from the park before? We did! :scared1:)

Where were you on the 23rd? We didn't get anywhere until later, but went to MK for a while. Andrew had school that day. Sorry I didn't share that we'd be there, but it wasn't really planned. You know how we are with plans, too. You've gotta go back to give us another chance to meet up!

Disney is annoying me right now!! :headache:

I was hoping to plan an overnight visit during Andrew's spring break, but the resorts will not agree with me! I promised to be a little "conservative" about the parks this year, as John doesn't want to feel like Disney is ruling our lives. (When did Disney rule our lives? :rolleyes1) Because of that, I only wanted one night, but nothing is working out. None of the values are available that night, and only CSR (We were just there, btw.) is coming up for mods. This is with AP/resident rates. :headache:

If I add one extra night, Pop is suddenly available. Why can't I have it for just one of those nights? I could get All Star Sports or Movies for just one night at the regular rate, but I'm not sure about those two. Has either had any work done recently..? I should look that up. We're going to end up doing a day trip or skipping the parks for something else!!

I'm done whining now. ;)

In happier news.. 97 Days until the big birthday trip 2012! We'll be at POR in a royal room and the boys can't wait! (Neither can I!) :woohoo:

The big question.. Do I order a cake this year? ;)

Just a thought on your resorts. Maybe you can book the two nights at Pop, then call and cancel one night? Or else maybe you can just call and get the single night at Pop? I know we've had this issue before, but I don't remember how we dealt with it. It seems like sometimes they can pull up more options when calling, though.

Oooohhh, a royal room at POR? That should be cool! :cool1:

Thanks for your reply about the bubbles - I did think it may annoy other people, particularly those without kids!

If my eldest shows signs of playing up, I try to distract with something silly like pointing to the sky to see if there are any planes, etc - sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't!

Yay for getting to stay in a royal room. Time is going really fast for me at the minute so hopefully it will for you too so your trip is closer.

Hope Pop sort themselves out and let you book one night at the good rate.

Great idea! It didn't work though. I thought about calling for a new CM, but I think we'll try something else instead. Blake got crazy excited over some ASSp pics he saw so I might consider it. I am tempted to pass up WDW for something else, too. How crazy, right? I don't know why I bother to make plans and this is kinda why I don't share a lot of what we might do. We're just no good at keeping them!

Don't the royal rooms at POR look adorable? Blake can't wait to sit on the floor. He thinks the carpet will fly away! :rotfl: I was worried these might be too girly, but they look like a lot of fun. I can't wait!

We all have our fun little tricks for them, huh? Blake was a bit difficult on a grocery shopping trip today. I decided to distract him by pretending to hear something and needed his help to figure out what it was. He was soo quiet the rest of the trip, trying his hardest to hear it, too. That never would've worked with Andrew, but I loved how cute Blake was today. That little hand against his ear, he even claimed to hear it twice. He never did figure out what it was! I feel like a mean mommy, but it made our chore much more enjoyable for both of us!

Glad time is going fast for you, too! It'll be here before you know it! I've got my fingers crossed that you get the discounts you're hoping for, too! :thumbsup2 Do you know where you want to stay? I'm super excited of these rooms at POR. They're just too cute and I love that resort! When we left last visit, I told John we could never go back. I didn't want to spoil my love for it, like the trouble at CBR! I hope this stay is just as wonderful. (Minus the expired candy and Blake injury anyway!)

I believe that All Star Movies has just been refurbed or is still in process. I stayed there a few years ago and loved it. It needed an update so it should be great now.

You're right! It looks like last year they had some work done. That's awesome. We've stayed there a couple of times (It was my first on-site resort!) and I think the needed update is why I didn't consider it again after the last stay. Hope it still looks good because I just added it to our list again! I remember the boys liking the kids' pool and the look of the place. Thanks!

BONUS!! I've *finally* started our short getaway from December! :woohoo:

Day One.. December 9th, 2011..

Nearly five Disney-free months later, it’s finally time to go back! We took the second weekend in December to escape to the world for some festive fun before Christmas. Standing by our decision not to take Andrew out of school for WDW, we did have the agonizing wait until two o’clock that Friday first. :headache:

It went fast enough, with lots of cleaning and some Christmas shopping before picking him up. Our goal was to be on the road after he hopped in the car, but it wouldn’t go according to plan. When does it? In his excitement to get back to Disney, Andy-Roo forgot a few important items in his classroom. We didn’t make it off school property before we were turning around.

His school things safe in the trunk with our bags, we thought we were finally off. So much for the plan.. Again! We had to run home for something John had forgotten! This trip was off to a difficult start. We're good at that!

Eventually, we were on our way and driving by this..

Blake’s smile couldn’t have been any bigger! The boys were so excited to finally be near our favorite place again. With those familiar purple signs coming into view, I felt so happy. John and I both commented on how great it felt to just see these again. How silly. It was good be home!

DSC02834.jpg

Our first stop and only major goal of the evening was checking in at Pop Century! I loved the festive little wreath.

DSC02846.jpg

Letting the boys lead the way, we all walked inside to join the check-in line. I hadn’t used online check-in, so the process was a bit long. The CM taking care of us was super sweet and gave the boys Timon & Pumbaa safety books to look out while they waited. :thumbsup2

DSC02848.jpg

Blakers can't concentrate without that tongue sticking out!

DSC02850.jpg

My clever boy found a "light source" to help him read. haha..

I had placed a “Rubix Cube View” request on our room, and we were given the 90's building. Not having a clue where this room was, I didn’t inquire about the request and simply took it for what it was. I left thinking our request was ignored, but happy that we were in the section of Pop that we love best. The 90's are beside the Rubix cube buildings anyway.

DSC02851.jpg

Merry Christmas tree! The boys wouldn't to stop for a picture, but I really wish we had that afternoon. No one was around! That wouldn’t be true when we make it back.

Time to find our room!

DSC02854.jpg

Not sure where the room was, the boys ran to the nearest set of stairs. We passed a stack of amazon boxes on the way. How odd.

DSC02857.jpg

Still searching for room..

DSC02870.jpg

I enjoyed the scenic route anyway.

DSC02871.jpg

Eventually, we found the room! It was #8462, and had a great view of a Rubix cube! Maybe the CM setting our room did look at that request after all! Andrew was the reason for the request, and couldn’t wait to see the cube lit up later. We all think it looks extra nifty at night!

I had to snap a picture to document our first time with those tiny folders. We’d never gotten them before and I like 'em. We have too many of those big folders, and I just can't bring myself to toss any of them out! I think I have a Disney packrat problem. I have trouble tossing out anything we bring home from there. Seriously.. Remember Andrew's DHS leaf that day? I've still got it!:rolleyes1 The smaller size folder would be easier to hold onto anyway!

DSC02887.jpg

Blake and I would hang out and inspect the room a bit, while John and Andrew grabbed our bags from the car. The afternoon was going great so far. With our stuff finally unloaded, it was time for our next stop. DTD!

Yay!! A bonus update!! :cool1:

Don't you hate getting on the road and having to turn around! Argh! It's the worst!

Hahah...I had a box of all of our Disney paperwork too!! I just went through it and threw it out (I was nesting...LOL). But I've had it for like 3 years and I just added any paperwork into it after each trip. It's not like I NEED that paperwork! And like I had all the maps etc. Like 4 of each park! I KNOW the parks' lay outs...I don't need the maps!! LOL

Yay for a December trip update! With the exception of the forgotten things delay, looks like a good start! And I'm glad you got the view you requested. I didn't know they made the folders smaller. That's good, though. We have them tossed in a "Disney bag" here. Must get rid of some of these things, though. Looking forward to hearing more!
