The ride to the MK had been quick and we were soon walking down Main Street again. The castle show was underway, so I began to recite the characters’ lines to the sound of my giggling Blaker. He jumped in with one of Peter Pan’s. For never making a point to see this show, we’ve sure heard it enough times! We were on our usual path to Fantasyland, but decided to pause and take in a bit of it again. It’s always so much fun.

Finally in FL, waits weren’t terribly bad for out late arrival. Pooh was at twenty, and Snow White at fifteen minutes. It sounded great to us, so we split for a moment. John got the Pooh FP set while Andy-Roo tried his luck at that silly sword.

CIMG1914.jpg

As always, the sword didn’t budge. Andrew was beginning to doubt that it ever moves and said this must be my scam to catch a goofy picture of him trying something silly. Haha. With the slightest chance that it might someday, I don’t see him ever giving up anyway.

We moved on to Snow White, with the boys riding in front again.

CIMG1922.jpg

It was fun, but John always complains that the story line isn’t in order. He's right, but it seems to be extra annoying to him. At the very end, Dopey was missing!

Lady Tremaine and her daughters were out, so the boys made plans to check that one off the autograph book list next.

CIMG1931.jpg

They’re always too funny. Drizella was taken by Blakers and spent the visit cuddling. She gave him a big kiss on the cheek, and got an angry Blaker face in return. She said he'd fit right in with this family! It was great.

CIMG1937.jpg

CIMG1963.jpg

Our usual MK routine would follow, with nothing all that interesting happening. I found a lost video camera left on the PPF FP machines and gave it to a CM. Hope that person came for it! We noticed the honey pots that had been in front of Pooh’s ride (the ones in my siggy pic) were now missing and a mailbox had taken their place. That was nifty and made me wonder when it had been changed. Maybe I’d just not noticed? We took a picture either way.

CIMG1997.jpg

And because it’s Pooh’s ride…

CIMG2029.jpg

Hooray!!

Nearing one o’clock, we’d made it through all of our favorites in the park. It was a great start to this stress-free getaway. The boys were beginning to slow down, so break time was declared. We moved on to the ferry to make our way to Pop Century. Surely our room would be ready by the time we got there.

CIMG2056.jpg

Only, it wasn’t. At 2:00pm, many hours after checking in, we were still waiting to settle in. It wasn’t a big deal or any problem. Check-in doesn’t technically start until 3:00, right? We took advantage of that dining plan and headed to Everything Pop for a quick snack. The boys were thrilled over the new mug design and couldn’t wait to pick one out. While Blake wasn’t old enough to be on the plan, I did give him control of my cup. ;)

In the line to “pay” for our stuff, Blake looked ready to drift off. Naptime was needed, so John decided to see if they could rush our room a bit. I had made a first floor request, but we’d take anything to settle a bit earlier. I went through the line with the boys, deciding they could always have the snack later.

Presenting our KTTW and snacks to the cashier, she looked at me with a very confused face. Inquiring about charging to the room, I said that we had the deluxe dining plan.

“Are you sure?”

Ummm. Yes, I’m sure.

She played with the card a bit and apologized. Something with the coding had confused her. A moment later, everything was set and we were in search of John to find out about this room.

He met us halfway, saying that the room had been ready the whole time. The CM he spoke to apologized and didn’t know what was going on, but it did result in a new set of keys. He’d gotten the same line about the “coding” on our keys. I began to wonder if that caused the confusion with the mugs and snacks, but none of that really mattered now. We were finally all straightened out and on our way to room #3115. It was in the fifties, lakeside, and first floor. Perfect!

Our room turned out to be verrryyyy far away, the very last on the far side of the farthest 50’s building. It was quite the trek, but this resort isn’t too big. We planned to check out the construction across the lake later. Once out there, Andrew raced ahead to open the door. He slid his card inside. Nothing.

“Maybe the kids’ won’t work?”

They’d always worked before, but I slid my card in anyway. Nothing. This was fun. John stepped forward and joked about my inferior card sliding skills. He tried his. Red. Take that, smarty pants! ;) All four cards weren’t working. I guessed we might’ve mixed up the old and new cards, so we tried the rest. Denied.

“Are you sure this is the room?”

“Very sure. It’s written down.”

He showed me that it was definitely #3115. This wasn’t fun anymore. Our not-ready-but-really-ready room didn’t seem to be ready after all. We headed back to Classic Hall.

“How many keys have we been through now?” I asked John as we rushed by that smoking area near the doors.

“This was just set two,” he replied.

A man and woman walking out suddenly stopped us and started screaming about their room keys not working. He’d heard my question.

“Not nobody in there ain’t helpin us!”

I forget what John said in return, but we got away as fast as possible!

We decided to split again. Pop seemed to be having some issues and there was no need for all of us to wait. Andrew had managed to guzzle down an entire cup of powerade in that journey and wanted more. With the back and forth game, I would’ve probably said yes to icecream for dinner in the moment. I took the boys for more drinks and found a table to eat their snacks.

CIMG2064.jpg

Phineas & Ferb was playing in here, so our wait was easy. The boys loved that brownie, especially the little marshmallows on top. Everything is better with mini marshmallows, right? They’ve always thought so! John and I had grabbed a cookie to split, so I broke it in half. Despite his urging me to just enjoy it all when we parted, I wrapped his half in a napkin for whenever he joined us again.

We watched the cartoon. It was one of their favorites, with a song and some dancing. Blake hopped down from his chair to dance around. It was adorable, but I was starting to wonder when John would be back. After a bit, I checked the time. It was nearing 3:30 and he still hadn’t returned. When I looked up, he was just walking to us.

“Are we ready now?”

“Nope!”

We were now waiting for a CM who would go with us to the room to make sure round three of the KTTW game was more successful. I had to laugh. Did they not believe us? Thankfully, this set opened our door. Hooray!

It was now 4:00pm.

“Cookie?”

Breaks weren’t going to happen at all and we didn’t have time to hang out in the room now. John passed on his cookie. Tonight had an important dinner ADR that no one wanted to miss. I’d made, and cancelled, the Garden Grill a few visits now and our time was coming up soon. After a check, there weren’t any other times available during our stay, so it was now or never. (With the way the system works today, I guess we’d now be charged if we didn’t make it!) It was a little silly to think naps could work during the short time we had anyway. Getting in a room right at three would've been pushing it a bit. John brought in our bags and we loaded into the car again.

To Epcot!

We walked straight to the Land and made it just in time for our ADR. The area around here was packed, so we had a wait. I found it interesting that I’d never noticed anyone waiting around here before, but there were lots of benches that showed waiting must be common. I must get Soarin’ vision when walking through this building.

We only had about fifteen minutes until being called. It was the perfect amount of time for Blakers to wake up. He had drifted off as soon as we drove away from Pop. It was a super mini-nap, but enough to have the little guy recharged and ready for action again.

CIMG2094.jpg

CIMG2100.jpg

upside down Mickey ;)

Our table was absolutely perfect. We’d be able to look down over LWTL from the beginning. I knew the boys were going to be nuts over this one! Our server was nice enough, and went over how the plan worked here. It wasn’t long before we were visiting with some of our favorite friends!

CIMG2106.jpg

Chip came first!

And food came second!

CIMG2108.jpg

I thought the salad was super yummy, which turned out to be a very good thing. ;)

Pluto was the favorite again, with lots of silly playing. The boys asked if he was related to the dog in LWTL, and Pluto said he was. Well, he nodded. ;) Andrew decided the dog in the ride must be Pluto’s uncle. The big dog took them over to look down on the ride for a moment. It was sweet.

CIMG2118.jpg

When the main course made its way to our table, I saw just how great it was that I loved the salad. I wasn’t a huge fan of much of this. John and Blake absolutely loved it and gobbled it up. Blakers hadn’t been big on the kids’ offerings, but Andrew said it was okay. They were given sweet potato fries, I believe. I remember them being extremely salty!

CIMG2120.jpg

I decided to enjoy more salad.

CIMG2121.jpg

So yum!

Dale came by and stole Blake’s Mickey sunglasses. They didn’t exactly fit the big chipmunk, but did inspire lots of giggles from the boys!

CIMG2124.jpg

Mickey would be last, and the least interesting of the bunch. He knows he’s the big guy, and I think it had gone to his head that day. He rushed up and away, with little interaction at all. Too bad. I loved his outfit!

CIMG2135.jpg

Dessert followed Mickey, but I don’t know how it was. I was too stuffed from all that salad to try it. John thought it was alright, but he only had a couple bites. He’d filled up on the other food, not remembering dessert at all.

CIMG2138.jpg

What the boys got was much more fun! The both enjoyed the oreos and sprinkles, but left the ice cream. Andrew is the oddest little kid. He still insists Disney makes its ice cream way too cold!

CIMG2141.jpg

When our bill was finally brought to the table, we’d managed to circle all the way round to where we’d started. This meal was so much fun. I do have to say that the little bit of spinning around made me feel ill at times, which I didn’t expect. Going through the desert scene was uncomfortable to me, too. It took a few minutes until I figured out why it had gotten so warm! John took full advantage of that one and jokes about it when we’re on the ride. We saw Chip and Pluto twice, and the boys really seemed to enjoy this place.

Looking over the receipt after our server was finished with his side, something looked odd to me. We had way too many credits left, and this slip didn’t look anything like the one at Ohana. I began to worry. Our cards had been causing a lot of trouble this day and we needed a stop at GS ASAP!

The CM that helped us here was great. I want to make that known from the start. She was extremely polite and one of the few I’ve met that come across as if they really care about what they’re doing. That said, this was a big mess!

I presented the receipt and she looked into the history of our day. Yes, we had too many credits still available, but she was quickly able to see why. Despite the “no charging” request, everything we had done was processing as a room charge instead of using the credits! Ugh.. I blamed myself for not looking over that Ohana receipt after. We’ve been through this before and I wasn’t pleased at all. On top of that, I heard those too familiar words about the “coding” yet again. She didn’t understand our cards and asked for a moment to look into it, disappearing behind a door.

That moment would amount to an hour spent at Epcot GS. I watched guests come and go with various questions and complaints. One burst in, complaining that she’d just been “very injured” by a curb. The CM (not helping us) offered to call paramedics and she took off. That was odd. Several came in to ask what they could use snack credits on. I had to bite my tongue each time he told them it was a great way to get bottles of water. Really? Water? Epcot has so many fun snack options and he says water? Geesh. They all left in smiles, so I suppose it worked. Another had been chosen some sort of special family role earlier in the day and inquired about their special IllumiNations viewing location. She left in an angry huff over the lack of any other perks to this role. Wild. I don’t think I would last long working there!

After a bit, our CM returned without many solutions. Something was seriously wrong with our keys, but she wasn’t going to be able to fix any of it. She had informed Pop of our troubles and they were expecting us to reverse all those charges. Only the Garden Grill had managed to use them, no matter what the receipts may have said. Again, she was extremely professional about it all, which I appreciated and we actually had a pleasant chat. She assured us it wasn’t a big deal and would be easily fixed at our resort.

Before leaving, she offered up the annoying “FP for your wait” and I suppose it made sense. We’d been here for hour, and were no better off than when I walked in the door. I declined anyway. I wanted this cleared up right away so rides weren’t high on the list. Looking back, I wish I’d taken them to give to someone just coming in the park as we left. Oh well.

Thanking her, I began to turn to go when she stopped me again.

“If it were me, I wouldn’t try to use them (the keys) for anything at all and just go back to Pop Century now.”

Hmmm.. Maybe it was a little more of a “big deal” than she’d first suggested. Back to Pop we went!

Called it!! But you're having a much bigger issue than I expected! :-(
Garden grill looks fun. :-) that's one of our ADRs for our jan trip. What did you not like about the non salad food? I figured it would be a good choice cause I thought it was cool that all the food was grown on property. Do I want to re-think my choice?

Oh my goodness, so many issues!!! :headache: You guys always handle these things so well though! I hope they fixed everything easily back at Pop!

I agree that working at Guest Relations would be a very tough job! Probably 99% complaints to 1% happy people!

I'm glad you atleast liked the salad at Garden Grill....I'm with you that it was SUPER yummy! Ben and I enjoyed all the other food as well though...although I remember it being a bit salty. We got some fun character pictures at Garden Grill too. Also, its not only you that the spinning bothered...it got to me a little bit as well!!

Maybe it was more that the salad was sooo good? John & Blake loved everything and the only thing I didn't like at all was the fish. The smell did me in with the slight spinning. That's probably what turned me away from it all to stick with salad. I wouldn't change it. It was a fun meal and we'd definitely go back. :thumbsup2

There's no point in getting crazy upset over stuff. Believe me, I was more than a little annoyed at all of this. We were spending the whole day waiting for things to be fixed!

I was surprised the spinning was an issue. It's barely moving! That meal was really fun. I'd go there again!

Yay!! Ok, we'll keep it! I'm glad cause I was kinda excited about that one! :thumbsup2
Was John bothered by the spinning? Andrew thinks he'll be fine but you don't normally have motion issues so it surprises me that you were bothered.

Going back to your Pixar day....
The Toy Story character line was the worst. So hot and long.

I think we were taking the same path as you the rest of the day.
Emile and Remy were out for such a surprisingly short amount of time.

We did get to see stretch but not Gypsy.

I liked the Coral, but it was a pain trying to get a straight answer about when they were coming out.

Years ago (when Finding Nemo was in the theaters), the Coral would come out along with Nemo. He was chest high (probably one person inside driving him). Cute!

John wasn't bothered by it at all. Maybe I was staring outside of the "ride" too much? It is really odd that I'd be bothered but the rest of my family was totally fine. :confused3 I hope it doesn't bother him!

I'm so jealous! You got my preferred bug! Interesting that we took about the same path. I think I saw you getting in line for the Potato Head, but never again.

I wish they'd brought that Nemo out for Pixar Weekend. The boys would've loved it! I remember Andrew thought the coral was kinda creepy. :rotfl:

I wish some of these had been signing autograph books. I know it would've made seeing them almost impossible, but there were some fun characters out!

Getting back to Pop was no easy task. At the gate, John slid his room key to lift it. Nothing. Hmmm. This was a little familiar. He checked to make sure it was facing correctly and tried again. No luck. He attempted to get the attention of the security CM, and was greeted with loud yelling over incompetent guests who can’t use their cards. Not in those exact words of course, but the meaning was loud and clear! He was far from nice about it and Andrew suggested a time out for the man when we did drive away. The CM made him try the card three more times before letting us through!

I felt defeated. Our stress-free getaway was anything but. I was growing exhausted by all the problems and long waits for solutions. Parking the car in front of Classic Hall yet again, I needed a few minutes before tackling this one. Blake had fallen asleep in the car again so no one was in much of a rush. We managed to carefully transfer the little guy to his stroller without waking him.

“Here we go again..”

John first offered to handle this one alone again, but I wanted to be there. No one was leaving this building until everything was fixed for good. I took a deep breath and walked inside. We approached the desk at our turn, asking for a manager this time. A smiling man walked towards us and held out his hand.

I detailed our troubles of this day once again, starting with my initial concern over charging when getting the DDP in the first place. I had addressed that with the CM that checked us in. None of this should have ever happened. (Side note..Don't you have to leave a card for charging purposes?? I didn't and I still don't understand this!) He first apologized profusely and promised he’d make this right. Then he stepped away with our room keys to see what was going on. We were back to waiting.. again..

I looked down at my sleeping Blakers, over to my sweet Andrew. Neither of them deserved this mess. They’d both been so patient through it all, Andrew especially. He never complained about the waiting, but did question why our day was going this way. These things happen, I guess, but we were getting more than our share with Disney lately. I kissed his little forehead and asked if he’d like to watch cartoons. Jumping at the chance, rules were established and my baby skipped off to the waiting area. He was thrilled at the chance to be one of the big kids and found a bench. I was too proud and watched him double checking that his seat was still in view of us.

Then it got to me. I was angry, but mostly disappointed. Our first Disney year had been such a stress-relieving escape and full of pixie dusted fun. This one seemed to be one problem after another. A part of me was ready to pack it all up and throw away the rest of the year. What was the point in coming back again and again if this is how our visits turn out?

“It’ll be easier not to renew in July..”

I started to speak to my husband, but excused myself to the restroom. I’d felt a little tear of frustration hit my cheek and wasn’t about to be the crazy guest who cried at the guest services desk. As I turned, I spotted the manager watching me rush off. Ugh. Now I was the woman with tears on her face at Pop Century. Great.

I returned a bit later, dry eyed and back to normal. Another guest and I nearly ran into each other at the door. We both had a too ridiculous laugh over it and I relaxed. I decided to let John deal with everything again and sat with my Andy-Roo.

CIMG2147.jpg

Just then, that manager finally returned with an update and waved me back. He wasn’t sure why this was happening, but it would be fixed. He’d reverse all the dining charges, would refund the night, and cut yet another set of keys. These, set number four, were promised to be the last we’d need.

He then offered to give us all of our dining credits back, but we declined. We’d already wasted much of this day and sitting down for another long meal wasn’t that appealing. He understood, but said he wouldn’t let us walk away. I just wanted this fixed so we might salvage a few minutes of our evening, but he insisted. He’d give us free passes to the parks. I said we were passholders, and it wasn't needed. Call me crazy, but you know how I feel about stuff like this. He was already refunding the room! It seemed that the more we said we just wanted this problem cleared up, the more he tried to give the parks away.

“Would you like to stay another night?”

He said it would be at no charge and we wouldn’t need to change rooms.

“Just let us make this up somehow.”

I’ll admit the idea of staying for another night tempted me, but it wouldn’t fit into our plans anyway. John needed to get back to work. We all had a little laugh over it, but we still declined. Odd that this one was painful not to take advantage of! The manager still wasn’t okay with this and said he’d be back in a moment.

He returned with new keys. Then he presented a listing of our available dining credits. We had ten snack credits and nine meal credits. Despite our insisting we didn’t need it, he hoped we might be able to plan something special with them. Some extra snack credits were added “just for fun” for the boys. Then he slid some one day adult PH tickets across the counter. I was in shock. (And I wasn’t going to share all these details –risk of scammers out there!!- but I already mentioned that I only need a pass for Blake right now and it helps explain the next day.) He introduced yet another CM who would accompany us to our room to make sure the keys were okay. It had been another hour of waiting, but we hoped the problems were over.

The CM talked endlessly on that walk to the room. It was obvious that he knew of our trouble and wanted to lighten the mood. Andrew thought he was cool and had fun. I was glad my little man was still so upbeat about it all. Blaker snored away in his stroller. Such a lucky boy.. I wouldn’t have minded sleeping through all of this! At our door, all of the cards were tested.. and successful! He wished us the typical “magical” day and went on his way.

We walked into the room and I collapsed on the bed. I needed a break after such a mess! It was much too late to think about getting back to the parks and I was exhausted. We relaxed and talked, both deciding that the dining plan would never be considered again. Ever! :lmao: We’d given it three chances and hadn’t managed a problem free experience yet! I mentioned our Pop pictures for the morning, saying we wouldn’t be back here for a very long time either.

Blake woke up, so all of my boys headed outside to refill our mugs. I was alone for bit, so I looked over all the papers that manager had given me. So much stuff for our problem just made me feel weird. I have issues, I know. All of the dining credits were nuts. This was only an overnight getaway, and I didn’t expect to spend it all in restaurants. Staring at the possibility of nine TS credits, I think the manager’s evil plan did start to work. I decided to see what we could do with them and reached for the room phone.

Using the automated system, nothing of interest was available. I tried again, speaking to someone this time and something sparked my interest for the morning. We were already planning Yak & Yeti for lunch, but now we’d be eating breakfast, too. I hoped the boys would like my idea. ;)

Scribbling the ADR number down on a piece of paper, I was startled by Blakers knocking on the door.

“We are here to go swimming, ma’am!” he grinned up at me when I pulled the door open.

He wasn’t coached at all, right? :rolleyes1

After that long nap, Blake wasn’t about to go bed anytime soon, so it sounded great to me. The pool was a perfect way to relieve the stress of the day. John would take Andrew into the Hippy Dippy pool while Blake and I splashed in the kids’ area. We parted near a lifeguard where Andrew made a point to introduce himself.

“My name is Andrew. Please make sure I don’t drown.”

He didn’t understand why we were all laughing so much. Not drowning is important! Such a silly guy.

CIMG2157.jpg

The boys loved every minute of pool time and we grabbed more treats before going back to the room. Everyone fell into sleep, optimistic about the next day. Maybe this is the day we should've skipped!

What a day! I'm glad you were able to salvage it with some fun pool time at the end! That picture of Blake wrapped up in his towel is adorable! He is too cute for his own good!!! And Andrew, "please don't let me drown..." too funny!!!

I can definitely understand why you were feeling emotional! All of those issues definitely don't match up with the hopes we have when we go to Disney World! I probably would have reacted the same way!

I can't wait to see where you end up going to breakfast!

That sounds like a very bad day! I'd like to know what went wrong with the coding on those cards. I wonder if it's harder for passholder's to use the dining plan somehow.

Pixar weekend looks pretty fun, though. Your boys always seem to do so good waiting in line.

Wow! What a rough day! I can totally understand why you were emotional too...it wasn't just about the day. It was all of it, year of disney ending, thinking about not renewing, knowing that this horrible day was one of your last. Yep. I'd be running to the bathroom to cry too!

It seems like your evening got a little better though so I'm glad you got some time to decompress.

I'm excited to see what your surprise breakfast is!! :-D

That "please don't let me drown" thing was too funny. Even better was when he questioned why this was funny! He's too sweet.

I felt so stupid to actually cry over this, but so much was building. We really didn't have the easiest year! I need to get some more updates done ASAP. Working on this day doesn't exactly have me excited to go back right now. :sad2: Two more sleeps until Disney!

Breakfast will be an unexpected hit! :woohoo:

I would LOVE to know what was going on and why all of this happened. If anyone we spoke to knew, they certainly weren't explaining. Everytime we've checked in at a Disney resort, the CM asks if we want to allow charging and takes my card if I say yes. I made such a point that morning to NOT allow it and never handed over a card. It just doesn't add up to me, but I don't know how their systems work anyway. :confused3

I don't know if it's the AP causing it either because we had about the same experience on my 23rd birthday trip. We didn't have APs then, and nothing seem to go right. I remember giving up and just letting charges from the Main Street Bakery go to the room after the headache it caused at the register. :headache: We'll just stick to skipping the plan in the future. It doesn't really save us any money anyway.

This day was definitely tough! We spent sooo much of it dealing with those cards. :headache: I actually got a headache when I was writing about it yesterday. haha.. I'm glad it's in the past and the day ended with some fun memories at the pool. :thumbsup2

Hope your family has a WONDERFUL time at Disney World! I bet everyone is excited about the upcoming trip.

Just caught up on your crazy day! And I thought we had problems with our cards on the trip last December when they were changing over their computer system! Although we went through probably at least a half a dozen sets of keys and got locked out of our building, room, and safe at various times, we didn't have nearly the ordeal you guys had. I'm glad they did something to make up for it, though (even if you felt weird about it). And that explains why you have those 1-day free PH tickets!

That salad at Garden Grill was really good...I think they grow all the veggies on site. I remember liking the rest of the meal (didn't try fish), and the dessert was good, but nothing was amazing...just all pretty good, though. And it was a great place to spend time with the characters. Bummer that your Mickey wasn't into it, though. I liked the changing scenery too...we also lasted one go-round. No dizziness, though.

I love Andrew's intro to the lifeguard! :rotfl: And that is an adorable picture of Blakers!

Can't wait to hear about your surprise breakfast hit!

Hope your family has a WONDERFUL time at Disney World! I bet everyone is excited about the upcoming trip.

The boys are going nuts! Andrew's been giving his teacher the count everyday at school. His class actually made a countdown chain for Christmas and he had to jump up and say it was just like our Disney chain! I hope he can sit still until the school day is over tomorrow! :yay:

Blake played "Celebrate You" at least a dozen times today, too. That song will always be WDW for my little guy. I think they're ready to go!

I guess it's nice that they try to make up for stuff, but it does make me feel odd. I'm happy to have the tickets for this little holiday getaway, but I HOPE it goes well and we don't have any issues. Wish I'd had a minute to sit down today and work on the TR. I've been stressing over things since writing this! At least, we're not doing the DDP again!

That salad was crazy delicious. I'd go back to Garden Grill just for that, now that I know it seems to always be great! I think one of your TRs is what pushed me to finally stick to that one actually. Thanks!

We're back! Our little getaway was absolutely PERFECT! We didn't quite accomplish everything planned (no mini-golf), but had one of the best visits ever. It felt so good to be back at WDW!

Hoping to update and FINISH this TR soon! :thumbsup2
