Last Year DVC and DCL ran a Fall Fantasy Special on points that included a shipboard credit. We went in Sept and received the credit. Other than that I am not sure of a shipboard credit for booking with points.

We booked a cruise this fall using DVC points. They later called us back and said that they are running a fall special and would credit us 28 points and give us a $50 ship board credit. We are booked on cat. 10. I understand the credits vary with the category you book.

SusanD....when is your cruise? we are doing the 10/12 western cruise with DVC points, but we have not heard about any credit on points or room credit?
perhaps they haven't phoned because we are in the UK and the credit has been applied without us knowing ( I'm just being VERY optimistic here )

We booked the Sept. 28 Western Cruise a month or so ago, and they later called back and said there was a special and we were being credited back 28 points, including the 20 we had borrowed from next year. Those points would be returned to next year's allotment. This was for a cat. 9 stateroom. Needless to say, we were thrilled. There was no mention of an onboard credit, however.
