Yayy updates!!

I love all the pictures and details you include, it's like we're right there w/you! And, I also have the "stuck in a car" syndrome. My whole family makes so much fun of me for it, but I have this crazy anxiety that we're def. going to get stuck in some crazy traffic, or be miles away from a restroom and I'll have to go, and then what?? crazy. I'm glad you understand :goodvibes

And I-95 is great! We drive it from Georgia, we get on around Savannah, and there aren't many signs near there until you get down into Florida, but still, as soon as I see a Disney sign I get SO excited. And, South of the Border is hilarious...we actually stopped at the campground there yeeeears ago, overnight on our way somewhere else. It was funny. But yes, a dump.

More more!

Ha, I think yall should've stopped at the DOLL STORE for Mike! ;)

Oreo is such a cutie.. I love how she sits in her own "seatbelt."

Excited for more!

Great updates! Oreo seems so complacent and well behaved in the car. My cat hates being in the car ...

and the topless 24 hour food n fun - that sounds like one classy joint!:lmao:

Great update and pictures!! I'm glad you liked Savannah, it's really beautiful. One of my best friends lives there, she went to college and now graduate school there so I get to visit quite often, and we've taken alot of weekend trips there too. It really is a beautiful place, and I'm glad your hotel was nice!

Well I saw your link on another TR and I saw that you were from BK so I decided to check this out.... and i spent the whole afternoon reading it! Great report! For some reason you look really familiar too! I live in BayRidge, do you shop here or come here often? Maybe thats where I know you from...maybe I'm nuts. LOL. I totally agree with your sentiments about NYC, no place like it, i love living near it everyday! I also love Orlando like i love NYC. Vegas comes in a close 3rd for me but thats besides the point. Anyways, Looking fwd to the rest of your report for sure, check mine out if you have the chance!

PS Oreo is the CUTEST!!!!

Love your TR it make feel like I am with your family on vacation. It also reminds me of all of my family road trips we took from NY to WDW. We always looked forward to seeing the South of the Border signs. When we went they started in VA:eek:. One time we were so excited because my Dad actually stopped there to spend the night...:scared: it was awful and that was about 23 years ago could you imagine how bad it is now? Can't wait for your next update.

Okay, I can't believe I just now found your T.R. I was a huge fan of your last one! We are a lot alike!

Friday, August 3, 2007 - The One With Mike's Worst Nightmare
Day 1, Part 2

At 9:30 we decided to stop at the Maryland Welcome Center. I remembered there not being any rest stops in Washington DC since it was only a short drive, but there’s usually traffic and I didn’t want to get stuck having to go to the bathroom. Yep, that “Stuck in a car” syndrome again! It was only a quick stop, where Mike walked Oreo while mom, dad and I ran to the bathroom.

At the Maryland Welcome Center

We reached Washington DC at 9:45. The GPS gave us an alternate route which we thought would be past Washington DC. We hadn’t listened to it the last time and really… what was the point of getting it if we weren’t gonna use it? So we got off of I-95 and made our way to the Marland-Washington Parkway.

Well, there wasn’t any traffic… but instead of getting us past Washington DC, Maggie took us directly through it. We always thought it was bad enough driving past DC on I-95 so we didn’t at all anticipate driving through it, especially right at the end of rush hour. It wasn’t too bad, though, and I was actually pretty excited. I’m very patriotic, I love all things “American”, and I’ve never been to Washington DC so I was psyched to get to see a little bit of it. I was kind of surprised by it, though. I knew that DC wasn’t a nice area, but I didn’t expect it to be as run down as it was. The streets we drove through were very slummy and just not good. It’s weird for it to be so run down when the National Mall area is so nice. Anyway, we hit some traffic as we got closer to the government buildings and attractions, but it wasn’t anything to worry about. What we DID have to worry about was the fact that dad had made a wrong turn and we again had to go all the way out of our way to get back to I-95. This “shortcut” was turning into a very, very long cut! We got to see the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument and the Pentagon, though, which I thought was awesome. I definitely have to get back to DC some time!

We finally made our way out of Washington DC and back onto I-95 at 10:25. We won’t be taking THAT detour again! It was still fun to see everything, though. It made me feel very patriotic! Anyway, as soon as we left DC we were in Virginia, otherwise known as the worst state ever to drive through. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Virginia. We’ve visited several times and it’s a pretty state… but it’s just so damn big and takes FOREVER to drive through! I knew it was going to be a long ride so I just listened to my MP3 player and tried not to think about it.

A 10:45 we got off of I-95 and stopped at a gas station to use the bathroom. When ya gotta go, ya gotta go! We were back in the car in no time and got stuck in traffic right when we got back on I-95. I was so glad that we had stopped when we did! It only lasted for ten minutes, though, before we were flying down I-95 again.

Oreo loves the car!

We drove and drove and drove… and drove and drove and drove. I really hate driving through Virginia. It’s huge and there was nothing to look at along I-95 but trees and more trees. Grr. I snacked on some 100-Calorie Pack Lorna Doone cookies and Ritz-Mix to pass the time, and we stopped again at an I-95 rest stop at 11:30. Mike and dad went to the bathroom while mom and I walked Oreo, and then we switched. We had stopped at this rest stop on all of our drives down to Florida and it’s a pretty nice one. They had some brochures and ads for Virginia attractions, vending machines and bathrooms. The bathrooms were gross, but at least the surrounding area was nice.

Some information on Virginia

Hi and great job on your TR I would have to disagree with you about Washington D.C. being slumy it a little on the out side but once you get inside the ciity its gorgeous No Flames Please. But to say this you need to see the inside of the city first but great job and your TR is very enjoyable!

Ha, ha, ya gotta know the DC-defenders were going to come out en masse to defend our beautiful city! Yeah, the Baltimore Washington Parkway takes you through some not-so-nice areas. But DC is awesome, just like New York, it's got its bad spots, but it's the most beautiful city in the nice areas.

Come visit, you'll love it!

And, by the way, loving your TR!

I'm another DISer near the DC area! (About 20-30 minutes south!)
I will admit, I'm afraid to drive around certain parts of the city...
but, if stick the main areas - especially the Mall - it's awesome! :)

Hurry and post the next installment...
I WANT TO READ MORE! ;):cool1:
