I love the Santa Goofy, very festive. And I agree being seated at a small table with strangers can be awkward. How many people fit at one table?

The chocolate fondue was good, but since it was very cold out you had to eat it quickly!

The biggest issue while eating outside in the cold is eating hot food. You feel rushed because if you take your time the food gets cold.

We headed out to the viewing area when we finished up, and we were right in the front of our area. The only people in front of us should have been those in wheelchairs. While we still had a decent view, no one followed any of the rules for the area, and no CM's enforced those rules. A lot of people sent their children to the very front of the viewing area (which was not part of the areas we were supposed to be allowed to stand in). They mostly stayed seated so I didn't care, but towards the start of the show random people just started walking to that area in front because no one was in it, so you had a lot of adults standing too. People who had someone in a wheelchair with them just stood in the wheelchair section (instead of literally two steps behind them in the row with us). I had a lady standing right in front of me most the time, and 2 super tall guys. (I did manage to get some decent footage around them but I ended up having to switch spots with Josh so I could see). I didn't want to stake out a spot, so maybe I can't complain, but I also feel like if you pay for reserved viewing you shouldn't have this much trouble seeing the show.

That is really annoying. If you pay good money to not have anyone in front of you then the cast members should enforce this. It bothers me too when they don't enforce the rules

but ultimately Brown Derby won out (at the last minute) because it had been a year since we had gone, and I was really craving some Cobb salad!

You had me at Cobb salad. That's always a good enough reason for HBD.

I love the Cobb salad. It just works so well together and tastes so good. I typically don't order salads when I go out (unless something comes with salad), because I just feel that a normal salad is so easy to make at home and when you go out to eat you should try something you don't get to have often. But the Cobb salad is no normal salad!

Food porn!! Cobb salad is a thing of beauty.

I can't say for sure but there was definitely no honey on it that I recall. The first bite was good, after that it was literally just a shooter filled with hot blueberries.

This is also one of those dessert parties where you are seated with other people. I don't really enjoy being seated (especially at super small tables) with strangers, but these people were pleasant. They were from Prince Edward Island, and we chatted a bit.

I don't love sharing food experiences with strangers either. But good that it worked out well. Not that I should be stereotyping here, but Islands are typically some of the friendliest people on the planet in my opinion, so you lucked out! We love visiting PEI because there's just a totally different way about people. Lovely place!

I thought it was way too strong! Josh wanted one, and they informed him that they weren't GF. (Our second GF surprise of the trip), and made him a special one. I guess all the hot chocolate drinks were made using something that had gluten in it.

So weird!! I could see if it was just because of the bourbon because even if you consider distilled alcohols to be GF, sometimes flavoured liquors have gluten in them when the non-flavoured ones don't. ....but then he couldn't even have the regular non-alcoholic hot chocolate!?! What!? I've never seen a hot chocolate mix with gluten in it to this point. So weird.

I have no idea what most of it is because he didn't get to eat much of it! They brought it over when the party was almost done. (He ate a lot of chocolate fondue and strawberries). And shortly after when we got up to go to the bathroom they tossed it out while we were in the bathroom...Sure he could've asked for another one but it was all prepackaged cookies and trail mix etc anyway so he didn't see the point in asking for more. I was disappointed with the GF choices for him, one thing that stops us from booking dessert parties sometimes is the lack of choices for him. Some parties like the one in MK have really stepped it up with fresh baked GF goods, but most just do the pre-packed box and 1-2 things at the actual party to eat. Josh isn't picky, and usually will eat those things, but the boxes don't always seem to have much thought put into them.

I was going to ask about your experience with Josh's GF diet and the dessert parties. That's too bad that this one was so disappointing. I'm hoping to book one for HEA for this summer, and I know my options will be pretty limited between the gluten and the dairy issues, so it'll mostly be for Nathan and for the fireworks viewing. But it's too bad that this one really didn't deliver for GF options.

And you can tell I've never seen Prep and Landing anything because I thought this was muscular/angry Sven...

It was definitely the hot chocolate itself and not the bourbon. I wonder if they either weren't using a mix and making it somehow or just weren't sure if the mix they were using was 100% safe. I have no idea what would be in the mix that had gluten, but maybe they had some regular mix lying around?

That is SO weird. I guess it's possible they were just being cautious? If it had gluten in it, I can't imagine why it was necessary. ...strange.

Well the good thing is the HEA one was the best one we went to for allergies! (And the firework viewing was fantastic!). Josh was served a full plate of Erin Mckenna's baked goods and fruit. It was the best prepared GF plate I've seen at a party, and had way more food than he could even eat. There was a lot variety. They also had cheese (I think you said cheese is okay, right?) and other fruits too.

Ooh, that's really good to know! His allergy dessert plate looks so nice!! And yes, I can usually eat some cheese. Good to know I should have some options.

He went up to the pizza station in the Pepper Market, and spoke to a CM. I was already at the table, but when he came back he said she had no idea what gluten free was. She said she'd get the chef, and then she just didn't for awhile?... (That's our assumption at least, at the time we thought the order had been put in already). Once Josh talked to the chef the pizza came out within 10 mins, so he didn't want to say anything since he thought it would reflect negatively on the chef. All together though it took 40 minutes for him to get his pizza, and there was barely anyone else in the food court.

Woah! Somebody who'd never even heard of gluten free!? I could see this happening ten years ago, but it's so prevalent now. And...like...they work in food service! But like you say, at least they knew the protocol to get a chef. I can't believe it took so long for this though!!!

The pizza looks hot and fresh in the picture. I am the worst with diving in before pictures, Andi always says mom stop we don’t have a picture yet! Thank goodness for her or I would have many pictures with a bite or two already in the food.

GF is so common now, there should be more choices for people especially at Disney, at least the CM knew to get the chef and not just wing it.

We usually stick to mostly TS, and I don't think either of us are in a hurry to go back to the Pepper Market, but what we've had in the past has been pretty good.

I feel like QS at the resorts is good for Mickey Waffles and decent meals when you need it

It's so weird she didn't know what GF was... I can see there's still a few people under a rock that don't know it, though even that seems crazy... but to be in food service, especially at Disney? I find it really hard to believe that they don't brief people on that and other allergies.

Up until recently we still got this A LOT outside Disney. Especially at Six Flags (we stopped going partially because Josh was given food with gluten in it more than once after being reassured it was fine, I’m guessing the person had no idea).

Scary! We've found varying degrees of knowledge around here, too. But usually it's been good at Disney.

We didn't make it to Peco's Bills this time, but we've enjoyed our experiences there. Overall, I think Magic Kingdom is the weakest in terms of food options.

We were off to a much better start as we were seated right away, and Josh’s allergy was noted.

Yum! I remember flourless chocolate cake from my days of being gluten free, I was always so excited to see it on a menu!

Trio of Puddings
Chocolate, Blackberry, and Butterscotch with Mix-ins

This caught my eye as soon as the Ale & Compass menu was released! It looks so good!

If you are looking for something that tastes like pudding, this dish really isn't it; its definitely an interesting option, but I would call it more of a mousse trio.

Still sounds delicious!

Also a bit of pixie dust happened in the restaurant!

A lady came over to us and said she was leaving that day and did we want 1 anytime FP, and 1 rider swap pass for Soarin’. We had actually just missed our FP for Soarin’ so it worked out perfectly! (We ended up using the anytime FP to ride TSMM the next day since it was our last day at Disney).

I've never had a corn dog before and Josh hates hot dogs of all kinds so we've never been to Casey's before. I really wanted to try the famed corn dog nuggets so I headed over to Casey's. Once I saw the line (and how little time I had before the fireworks) I decided to mobile order.

Mobile ordering is so handy! I used it at Casey's to get my dad a hot dog, and it saved us so much time!

Our Famous Cobb Salad
with Finely Chopped Greens, Turkey Breast, Bacon, Egg, Tomatoes, Crumbled Blue Cheese, Avocado, Chives, and Cobb Dressing

I'm so fussy, I won't eat half of the things in that salad haha

I would say all of the desserts were okay, but none really stand out. I'd be okay skipping dessert in the future. I think by insisting in making the mini desserts so they can do the trio they end up making 6-7 okay desserts instead of 3-4 really good ones.

That's really too bad. They are a signature restaurant, they should have at least one amazing dessert.

Prince Edward Island is so close to my home! Sucks that you had to share a table with strangers though.

My first plates were chocolate fondue (with strawberries, cake, marshmallows for dipping), Yule log cake, pumpkin pie bread pudding, and the peppermint brownies. Josh grabbed some chocolate fondue and strawberries.

Yum!

My next plates were cheese fondue with pretzel bread and naan bread, and chips with spinach and artichoke dip and french onion dip:

Does she live under a rock? When I first went gluten free back in 2008, most people had no idea what I was talking about, but by the time I was diagnosed with Crohn's and went back to eating gluten in 2013, gluten free products were everywhere!

The Gluten Free Pizza doesn't look too bad. But like you said alot of the pizzas in disney aren't great to begin with. It def looks like a crust that was already cooked and they just threw stuff on it.
