Hi Raeven!! I am Amy. I recently came across all your TR.(and read them all) I love reading about your Disney and universal adventures. Especially since I too am gluten free. I am from Chicagoland area it looks like you enjoyed your time here. frontrea is sooo good. Shedd is one my favorite places in the city. Also I super jealous that you are going to pandora. I'm currently in the process of trying to convince my dad we should go for my 30th birthday in August. Loving this PTR. Disney planning is the best kind of planning.

Hi Amy! :dogdance: Thank you for reading them all! I do so many a time that I feel like it can be hard to follow them all sometimes :rotfl: I have met so many people on here that are gluten free, it's part of the reason I started doing dining reviews too. There's some good info out there, but I feel like when I researched for our first trip it was a little frustrating at times to find info at certain places.

Yes Chicago was so fun! I still have another update or two about it coming. I hope you can convince your dad! Tell him you only turn 30 once :cake: It is the best planning!
You are welcome. I researched all about gluten free at Disney my first trip as gfree person and I was so nervous about eating on a vacation. Lol. Now the only place I want to eat gfree is at Disney how long has he been gfree. I got miss diagnosed celiac and just found out that even though I am not a celiac gluten is a trigger for my migraines and a different autoimmune disease.

As for convincing my dad I probably won't be able to do it. I asked him this afternoon about going and he said we just got back from Disneyland. No more Disney. Hahaha.

I'm so jealous of you going to universal as well I haven't been there since I was 7 and we only went there to see the nickstudios

Exactly it's so easy to eat gluten free there! A lot of places are catching on, but it's definitely easier there. He's been gluten free a little longer than we've been dating so probably around 3+ years. He's not incredibly allergic like some people can be, and can usually handle things if there's a small chance of cross contamination though sometimes it still makes him sick. It's crazy all the different reactions gluten can cause in people.

Aw :sad2: keep trying maybe it'll work one day

You should try to get there when you go next! But I'm so jealous you got to see Nick Studios that was closed long before we ever got to go, and I always wanted to go when I was younger. I'd still love to go now if they had it!

I wish I could tell you what nick studios was like but I don't remember. The only thing I remember was seeing one of the game shows. I need to go back. But till that day comes I will live through your trip reports. Hahahaha. Can't wait to read the rest of your Chicago trip.

When I saw the statue I just thought, that guy takes "fish are friends, not food" verrrrryyyy seriously.

And even on my best night I never lost a top in an elevator. At least I don't think I did...I can't remember :scared:

:rotfl:

That restaurant looked really cool! I love the bird thing and the leopard above the bar! I also feel like I need to go there just for the Mexican hot cocoa, yum!!

I will come back later and check out the vlogs!!

i didn't even we had a Shulas in the city. Haha that will show you how much I actually make it downtown. Where is the shulas located?

I LOVE your vlogs!!! It looks like you and Jenna had so much fun!

I was telling DH how I really want to go to Chicago now. (This is not new. I tell him that all the time. It is only about a 4 hour drive from where we live, but I've never been. :sad1: DH used to go a few times a year, because at one point before we met, he lived only 2 hours away.) So anyways, he starts talking about the pizza places and bars that he likes and I was like "No, I want to go to the candy store and the aquarium like Raeven and Jenna did!" and then he was like "We can't go to Chicago. You're going to ruin it for me." :rotfl: He's used to going with his guy friends and they would go mostly to bar hop and drink the fancy Scotch and Whiskey drinks. I guess we'll have to find a compromise, so I can finally go. ::yes::

I can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip and for more Disney updates. It is so exciting that you are going to get to see Pandora before it officially opens!! :cool1:

Popping in to say hi!

You've been doing so great on the videos! I really really wish we could have gotten more of that party behind me at Shulas. They were crazy. I was really bummed about no fun non-alcoholic cocktails. I just ate at another fancier place last night and I specifically asked about fun non-alcoholic cocktails and he kind of shrugged and said they could make some stuff virgin but it doesn't taste good so....a kiddie cocktail??

Haha. So I had a super classy kiddie cocktail at a fancy-ish restaurant. I did smell DH's old fashioned. Even though they are not my favorite cocktails, it smelled great. I do miss alcohol. <sigh>

And I had no idea you were filming us watching Ghost Hunters! :rotfl: Most of them were kind of lame but the last one we watched before we went to sleep was kind of spooky so I was worried that I would have bad dreams. Luckily, I didn't.

I can't wait to talk about our Lifetime movie. So great.

I'm getting ready to show my ignorance. I had NO IDEA that Shula's was owned by DON SHULA the Dolphins coach.

No. idea.

I just thought it was a fancy name for a steak place :rotfl::rotfl:

I even mentioned to DH once that it was funny a restaurant in Florida had that name because of Don. I feel like a total moron, but I never connected the dots.

Anyway, the steak looks great!!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who occasionally indulges in a Lifetime movie. I just watched the update of the 1996 classic, "Mother May I Sleep with Danger" made in 2016. Unfortunately, it was turned into a vampire story and was ridiculous, but James Franco made a cameo as the director of a play they were performing in the movie. I got excited because Tori Spelling was playing the mom (she was the daughter in the old version).

I still need to watch the vlogs! I feel like I keep getting more and more behind on everything. Darn real life responsibilities! I hate them!

Every time someone on the boards asks about steaks, Shula's comes up. So, I guess I'll have to try Shula's sometime! If I'd have done some research, I'd have taken my mom there, because she's a crazy football person. But oh well.

I'm sorry that they weren't very accommodating to Jenna's gluten sensitivity. :( I have a friend that just takes her own food when we go out somewhere because she gets seriously sick with any kind of cross-contamination. (I fondly remember her pulling grapes out of her purse in the middle of Spaghetti Warehouse. But what are you supposed to do if you can't trust anyone to not poison you with gluten?)

It looks like you had a great time! I can't wait for your next update. :)
