Delays at Sanford Airport

Can anyone tell me how quick the TSA checks are at Sanford (where I'm flying to/from later in the year)? DIS News has an article today on the length of time it takes to get through TSA screening at Orlando (presumably MCO) - 30 to 50 minutes was mentioned!

Can anyone also tell me what other kind of delays they have had flying into / out of Sanford - I gather it is pretty busy and I guess this may mean delays to take-off and landing.

Thanks.

Sanford was really not busy at all when we flew in and out in Feb. I'd say it took about 5 minutes to get through the screen there. The longest part was returning the car to Alamo, and walking back to the terminal :)

I'm going in October, which I think is about the same as February in terms of busy-ness (is that a word?) so that is very reassuring - thanks. :thumbsup2

There are no delays in the Sanford Airport. It is always best to get there about two hours before flight because of the seating assignments, but no delay due to TSA. The Sanford Airport is located approximately 50 miles from Disney. The difference in the ticket prices going into Sanford than Orlando are so much lower you can grab a car service from Sanford roundtrip and still save $75.00 to $100 per person in your party. Travel to Disney is about one hour drive. Allegiant Airlines fly MD-80's, from various parts of the U.S., into the Sanford airport

El Tel,

I didn't notice you were from the UK. Normally getting through customs is about 40 minutes. On Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays it can get pretty hairy. Coming in it may take 2 to 3 hours to get through customs and it all depends on if they can dock your flight in. If they can't than the inbound delays transfer to the outbound flights because of the limited docks. Summer is usually busy and so there will be delays.

Edd, thanks for the info. I'm flying in on a Saturday but in October. So it hopefully won't be a massive wait at customs/immigration, but it sounds like it won't be a breeze either.
Cheers. :thumbsup2

It's great for us flying into Sanford and getting through customs due to the fact I'm a American and my wife who is a Brit can just go through with me in the line for Americans then just wait for the baggage. :cool1:
