Delaying luggage pick up to eat

I'm wondering if this is a bad idea. Be honest

We are flying cross country with my 17 month old twins. We have an hour layover in MSP, which I'm guessing will be just enough time to get from one gate to another. When we land at MCO, I don't think we'll have fed the boys something very substantial all day (yes, we keep them loaded with snacks while on the plane, but some things don't travel well).

Our flight lands at 7:30pm. I was thinking we'd stop in the airport to eat before picking up the luggage and the rental car. However, I have some concern that leaving the bags means the airline/baggage people will take them and hide them away. Or maybe I'm just being silly. What do you all think?

The bags don't last on the carosel long. I would be too worried that they might get pulled as unclaimed. I would go collect the bags, the rental car and then get something to eat. There are restaurants right off the highway

OR,

Send one adult to baggage claim to collect the bags, the other adult stop in the food court area and grab something to feed the boys and meet the other adult at baggage.

The bags will wind up going to the unclaimed luggage office. Not the end of the world. My concern would be if a theif got to the bag before the airline employee pulled the bags.

PP is correct. Restuarants in route are likely to be cheaper and better.

I agree, I would not leave them sitting there.

What happens if your flight has a weather delay in route? I'd bring enough food for your 17 month twins. There is a lot of food that travels OK.

what airline are you flying in and out of MSP? The food court is centrally located. Lots of little vendors on the concourse though. It is my home airport.

I wouldn't leave the bags there though

It's not uncommon to to wait 15-20 minutes before the bags start coming out and another 15-20 for the before the last of them come out.

If you were going to grab a quick bite at one of the fast food places and run to baggage claim I wouldn't worry about it. If you were going to sit and take your time I would get bags first and then go eat. You can bring your bags with you to the food areas and then go back downstairs to the rental cars after eating.
