Delayed TCD flight

This is the main problem with an airline that only has 1 or 2 planes. They are cheaper but ther is virtually no fall back

I've never used TCD but feel I must add that with both British Airways and Virgin we have had overnight delays on the way home (and also with one charter but can't remember which one) and ended up in hotels. For the record, BA gave us the best hotel and Virgin the worst!!

You must be exceptionally unlucky. We have been to Florida and the Caribbean at least 60 times with no more than the odd 1/2 hour delay except for one occasion when we were delayed by 10 hours on Virgin and those days Virgin only had a couple of planes.

We are talking here of an airline that seems to have problems every week. Is that just bad luck?

I cant believe the problems TCD have!...what reason are they giving for the flight delays from Manchester??
I understand people using them as they are cheap...thats why we did it BUT if you have children or its something like your honeymoon or you HATE delays and bad service/communication then dont go...its not worth risking it as the horror stories seem to just grow!!

Terry,

Where do you get your info from? We're on the 2pm TCD flight on 22/9/2005 and I've been checking the departures for a couple of weeks and noticed that both the TCD and Air Atlanta flights from today haven't left yet, but there is nothing else I can find.

Its on the Manchester Airport website. Look on departures click on search for departures to Sanford and its all there I am afraid.
Story is that its been caused by an engine needing changing in Sanford because of a bird strike. Well it makes a change from a baggage handling truck running into it like the other week.
Neither of the Manchester flights today have taken off and the Gatwick one is just leaving about 5 hours late.

Just to add that I always fly with TCD and have never had any delays or any problems with them.
I have always had an excellent experience with them.

Can I point out again, that the original post was not about the delay itself (as I originally stated), but about the way in which we were treated. I did point out that I would not wish to fly on a plane that was unsafe, it was the fact that there was so much confusion and we were told nothing. I have been delayed for 17 hours before at Orlando International and it was totally different, within an hour there was a fleet of buses to take our flight out for a meal, we were treated exceptionally and it was still only a chartered package deal flight.

I seem to have been criticised for moaning about the delay, with many people quick to jump on the bandwagon and moan how I am not the only person to ever have been delayed and they have had terrible delays too. Once again I was complaining about the lack of information and the treatment we had.

I hope this clears matters up and that all and sundry will stop telling me how lucky i was to actually get there etc. etc. I was not lucky to get there, I paid for a 14 day holiday - therefore I expected to receive what I had paid for, instead i got a day less, that is not being lucky.

PLease stop moaning, however I would be interested in anyone who has had a similar bad experience with TCD.

Thankyou.

I had noticed that a lot of the delays were down to the baggage truck colliding the cargo doors from a different thread about TCD is this common with other airlines too?

even try the sanford airport website www.orlandosanfordairport.com
then click on arrivals it gives you all the UK flights coming in and departing . Unfortunately , today both the TCD and Air Atlanta flights are showing delays. :guilty:

One of the Manchester flights left 9 hours late the other will not leave until Saturday.
Can't think how big the bird was to hit two aircraft.

I was on the Monarch flight 387 Manchester to Sanford on 3rd Aug . We were delayed 11hours. We were supposed to fly at 9am and when we arrived @ 6 am to check in they gave us a letter and said that we would not be flying till 2pm. In the end we did not fly until just after 8pm. The reason was they had to replace an entire engine. I must say I was very nervous on that flight !

unfortunately it looks like Manchester gets the raw deal with TCD. We're flying with them (on personal recommendation)!! at the end of Sept from LGW. I've been checking the flights in and out of LGW and their delays are not really any worse than everyone elses. I work for an aircraft maintenance company and have spoken to people who work at MAN and they tell me that TCD have heavy delays on pretty much every flight :sad1: A work collegue of mine returned from Florida yesterday with TCD and had no problems at all, so I suppose it is just fingers crossed and hope for the best :confused3

I have notived it tends to be the Manchester flights that are worse. Watching the LGW flights over the last few days there have been some delays long that usual, but they looked to get the aircraft tunred around pretty quickly and caught up.

WE are flying with them from LGW soon, but LGW has been seeing some delays on other florida flights not only TCD, but they don't seem to be too bad.

my last flight with tcd from manchester was on time there and back so i cant complain, and we are looking forward to using them this year and next year

Looks like they have chartered a plane today to get back on time. 2 flights due to leave Manchester this afternoon at 2pm although one of them hasn't left yet.

Of the two flights supposed to leave Manchester this afternoon one has left at 3.00pm. Unfortunately it should have left yesterday!!!!!
The other one is unlikely to leave until probably this one gets back.

Oh my what a poor start to those peoples holiday :( I have never travelled with TCD and I know some poeple have had good experiences with them but having read over the summer both here and on another site about there long..... delays I just wouldn't risk going with them.

delays are delays unfortunatly they happen to everyone , if I am delayed on december 3rd no biggy, it happens, we dont have kids to amuse, just each other

But not in equal measure. Some airlines are more prone to delays than others. On a long flight a delay of 2 or 3 hours doesn't really bother me, but when you start to eat into your holiday time (plus the frustration which you more than likely get througth poor communication from the airline) means that delays can quite easily become a 'biggy' for me.

Having said that, we had a 32 hour delay with TCD last summer because of Hurricane Charley, and I can't fault their customer service. We were phoned at home 2 or 3 times telling us as much info as they had available. As a result we spent most of the delay at home, sunbathing in the garden.

Hello Stitch's Greatest Fan

You wanted to hear of other unfortunates like yourself – well hello! We also had a major delay with TCD and were stranded at Gatwick for over 50 hours – yes that’s over 2 days of our precious holiday!!! And before TCD fans start with the “delay not TCD’s fault” we would all agree, but the atrocious way we were treated was definitely down to them!

I must apologise for my outburst there but as you can tell this is still a pretty blood-boiling topic for me so I will stop for now! But if you would like to hear the full story......

Anyway we’ll be back at Wilderness Lodge on Thursday so we don’t dwell on the past. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Happy days are here again!
