Was anyone else on the delayed TCD flight that should have flown out of Manchester at 2pm July 29th this year? This was our first booking with TCD, on the strength of how we were treated, I will NEVER use them again.

How long were you delayed? :( What happened?

Sorry you had such a bad start to your trip! hope it improved.

we are flying with them in 4 weeks :worried:

Alex

We were delayed 21 hours. To begin with it was an hour, then they herded us all to the gate like sheep - tiny gate, 500 people, red hot, after keeping us there some time they announced a 10 hour delay - "the baggage truck has collided with the cargo door and it needs repairing as it won't close". To cut a long story short, they put everyone in 5 different hotels, we saw noone after that, hotel gave us a wakeup call at 5.45am. Eventually a billboard appeared in the lobby - everyone to go back to terminal for 6.30am. We were not told where to go, did we stay near the check in desks? dep. lounge? Eventually there was an unorderly scrum to have all our boarding passes changed manually in the dep. lounge. We were told the flight would be going at 8.30am..8.45...9.15...no announcement, nothing more on the dep. board except 9.30. By 9.20 a man from another party went to the desk, turns out they were beginning to board the flight - we almost missed it due to lack of announcements/notices. When we finally got to Disney - POR said they'd given our rooms away as we should have been there the previous day and didn't turn up - TCD hadn't bothered to inform them of the delay. We got our rooms eventually, but you can imagine how tired/upset we were by then. We missed a whole day of our precious, long-awaited disney holiday. I will not be using them again.

It was not so much the delay that puts me off TCD - I wouldn't want to fly on an unsafe plane, but more the way we were treated and the lack of communication.

Oh dear! How terrible. My husband keeps nagging about TCD flights saying they are offering cheap flights. I reply well there is a reason for that they are rubbish. I have heard so many complaints. A delay like that and didnt keep anyone informed including Disney is shocking. I hope you make a stern complaint and ask for a generous compensation for losing a valuable day at disney and all the trouble they caused. Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your delay, but it could have been worse, you might have been with British Airways last week! :smooth:

Steve

It couldn't have got much worse, we mearly missed our 1st wedding anniversary dinner at the California Grill. However, we made it to disney for the anniversary, the great news was that they picked me and my husband to be on the 1st float in the Animal Kingdom parade on our actual anniversary.

Terrible delay. I always think would be horrible to be delayed going on holiday, coming back isn't so bad.

This is the main problem with an airline that only has 1 or 2 planes. They are cheaper but ther is virtually no fall back.

We just flew back from Las Vegas with Virgin and had a 1 hour delay which was caused because the out going flight from Gatwick had a technical hitch - they replaced it (obviously within an hour) with the plane that had come in to Gatwick from Orlando !!

What a bad experience, hope it didn't ruin your holiday too much, unfortunately in ALL cases of delays the number one complaint from passengers is that there was no forthcoming info from the airline, this is the case on low cost, charter, and first class flights! I can't understand why in this day and age at least one blooming airline can't introduce a policy of letting delayed passengers KNOW what is happening, even if you're faced with bad news from the off its better to know :confused3

Least you got put up in a hotel!

I was once delayed 28 hours in Malta and we were made to stay in the airport the whole time. The company rep quit so we literally had noone to tell us what was going on! When we did eventually get home Watchdog were waiting for us at the airport!

What sort of compensation can you expect for a delay like that? (not that it makes much difference at the time!!!!)

We have been to florida twice with TCD going again with them in 18 Days. we have found them to be great and very helpful.

The dealy wasn't TCD fault, and as they were a small company they dont have the pleasure of having a great number of planes at their disposal therefore they had to fix that one. Ok it took 21 hours but its better being safe than sorry.

TCD is now part of AVION the same company who own Air Atlanta so in future their planes will be better and newer.

I think for what you pay on these flights you get a great value for your money. We pay a little bit extra for Sunshine Upper/ Premium and find this to be great

Most of the reports on this board are bad as most people will only post about it if they have a bad experiance, but TCD have a lot of flights every week going to orlando and you were unlucky to have one with a problem

So for every one delayed flight there must be 10+ that make it on time

I for one will always use TCD for goinf to orlando

Because they save money by not having a larger fleet is why you get larger delays.
Have you ever been on an Air Atlanta flight?? Planes better and newer? yes, than a DC3 or a VC10 perhaps!

Exactly Obi, its the same old adage, you get what you pay for, unfortunately delays with any airline, any plane are inevitable at some point they all get delayed,

It's not nice....I know.
But at least you didn't have your WDW honeymoon cancelled!!

We got married last Aug (28th) and was due to fly out a week later, but got our honeymoon cancelled 2 days before we were to fly, cuz of the hurricanes.

Not only did it get cancelled, we had to go back to work for 8 days after the wedding, and when we did finally get our honeymoon (3 weeks after our wedding!!) but we couldn't even stay where we were supposed to stay.

We had booked to fly Virgin to Orlando, and had a limo booked to take us to Animal Kingdom Lodge where we had a Savannah Room booked.

We ended up flying My Travel to Sanford, and got a coach to Coronado Springs (which took about 4 hours to get to after we landed cuz of all the drop offs!!).
It was a lovely honeymoon but not what we had booked originally so we were disapointed but we still had fun.

When is that going to happen then? And why would it happen?

If only that was true then there would not be all the complaints and discussions. Its only the 20+ hour delays that get mentioned these days. The 2/3/4 hour delays are now counted by most people as being 'on time'.

tcd has been using air atlanta flights for about a year now, but now that they are all part of the same group they are getting rebranded - everyone complaing on this thread should see the other one one these boards (think its called "we love tcd and we dont give a monkeys) lots of people there will testify to good service from tcd - delays can happen with any airline from easyjet to virgin - you want to see some of the treatment passengers get with delays on certain big airlines i should know i am air staff. at least you got a hotel etc i have seen big airlines make their passengers wait at the airport - they are a great company for what you pay for

PS I work for a foreign airline NOT TCD (before ayone thinks otherwise)

We went with TCD for our first time to Florida. NEVER EVER again!!. I appreciated peoples comments but its their lack of communication and service when things go wrong that the problem!!.
We were suppose to stay overnight in an airport hotel (manchester) the night before going....they changed the hotel 2 weeks before going and we ended up in a hotel in Stockport!!...not only that but we witnessed drug dealings in the lobby and our room was above the generator!. We were on such a high though we just kept thinking of the next morning...however we were delay 6 hours, no communication apart from the depature board chanfing every 15 minutes!!. When we finally boarded the palne, no tv's, seats were ripped, we were sat near the back where the toilet STANK, most drinks were ran out after the first service, the plane was having tempretue problems and it was like a heatwave again for the first couple of hours, our seats were not together although we had paid for them to be and we had to argue with the hostess who had an attitude problem ...it just went on and on. Never ever again. Seems TCD are great when things run smoothly but not the best of communicators when it does not!!. We are flying with Virgin this year!

More bad news. Todays flight from Manchester now going Saturday. Saturdays flight going Sunday until you get to Tuesday when Mondays flight departs.
'We are going with TCD and we don't give a monkeys'. Bet they do if they are going this weekend from Manchester. Don't make me laugh.
