Delayed flight question

Flying SW today.. Our flight now shows delayed for later this afternoon.. Do they ever become 'undelayed' or should I take it as that is now when our flight should be leaving? Changes our departure from home by about an hour.. Should we still go with the original time or go with the delayed time?

I've never heard of a flight being "undelayed". I would be more concerned about additional delays.

Worked backwards and appears some weather in Dallas... And Memphis where it's headed also has weather right now, so I would go with you are probably correct... And wouldnt be surprised with another delay out of memphis..

I have had the time get moved back several hours and then back up again to almost on time.

LOL and now it's back 'on time'... So, we'll go at our planned time, and will be there whenever they are ready to take us

Glad it already changed and you're going. I've absolutely heard of them being undelayed and I've been on one.

SWA works hard to keep on schedule. If they can undelay, they will. It happened to us Wednesday.

Most likely they posted the initial delay, then found another plane to "swap out" and put it back to original time.

Southwest always recommends that you be at the airport in time for the original flight, even if it shows delayed. Just in case, as seems to have happened here, they are able to work around the delay.

I've had flights delayed and then rescheduled back to the original time.

Always go to the airport as planned. We were waiting for our flight one time that showed as delayed by an hour. The previous legs ended up making time in the air and landed only a minute or two late and the crew cleaned very quickly. What was showing as a full flight only was 3/4 full and we pushed off while crew was saying there were still several families who weren't in the airport.

Just a couple weeks ago my friend was flying back home and was texting us all about the 15 people who missed their flight because it was marked as delayed but then took off on time. People were pissed but the crew just kept saying when we send out the delayed messages it always says please come to the airport for your original departure time as we will try to take off on time if able.

Yes we had a flight listed as delayed by 3 hrs all of a sudden it went back to being on time.

Yep, they obviously did some logistics we took off and landed right on time.

It happens occasionally. Either there is an unused plane available, or whatever problem that triggered the delay message gets resolved very quickly.

I had that happen flying home from Disney two weeks ago. Our connection in Midway showed delayed, and then it went back to being on time, which meant we had to hustle to make the flight!

On the way to Orlando while waiting for our flight we got to listen to a couple of people melt down when they missed their flight that was delayed and then wasn't. They had left the area and even though they were paged multiple times, stand bys were put onto the plane, and the door closed before they made it back to the area.

We were booked on a flight to Chicago in late August. The plane was at the gate, and about 5 minutes after boarding was supposed to start they announced a delay due to a mechanical problem in the jetway. The gate agent made an announcement to check back in 30 minutes for an update. DH and I went to the restrooms and returned in less than 10 minutes top discover boarding was under way!!

The flight was supposedly overbooked, with several people on standby. Yet there were about a half dozen empty seats when the plane pulled away from the gate, including the middle seat in our row. I'm not sure how people missed the flight, since it still took that 30 minutes before the door was closed.

I suppose it's possible some passengers made other arrangements when they heard about the delay.

I've had multiple times on SWA where a delay turned out to be on time in the end (though that can actually mean a 5 to 10 min delay from original time but the airport still codes the flight as on time) or where there are further delays. Usually a delay is due to weather. Depending on how the weather was it could cause further delays for the flight or the weather could clear up and the flight becomes back on time or with a less delay. Other times they may replace the airplane with another one entirely.

My husband had that happen in June (and I'm sure it happens other times as well). His flight showed a 3 1/2 hr delay due to weather. He was trying to fly from BWI to KCI. Well that plane flew from Dallas then to Charlotte then to Baltimore then to Kansas City as its normal flight path. There was weather in Dallas that caused delays for Charlotte which then caused delays for Baltimore well what they ended doing is swapping the plane out for another one. His flight was an after 9pm flight from BWI so I'm sure that helped with extra planes being there for the night before flying out the next day.
