Delay in rental pickup costs more?

I just found out my departure flight has been delayed by 2 hours on Saturday. No big deal.

But I went to the Budget site to update my car rental pickup time, and the rate changed to $60 more for a two hour less difference!! Yikes. So I cancelled the modification and as far as Budget is concerned, we are picking up our car at 10:30am not 12:30 when we actually arrive. Our drop off time has not changed.

Will they hold my reservation or will I be out of luck? I don't want to call them and let on that I already know about the flight delay. IN addition, although I said in my reservation that I am arricving on an Air Canada flight, I never quoted my flight number. I am not trying to cheat them out of anything, but it seems weird that taking two hours OFF the time I drive their car would cost me $60 more. I just want to make sure they don't run out of cars....

I wouldn't worry about it. In September our flight was delayed 2 1/2 hours which made us late for our pickup and we were not charged anymore money. I am sure that they expect this to happen once in a while.

If you can't or don't tell them your flight number at time of booking, your ressie might not be held for you.

You can also get an unexpected rate increase if the remaining time on your rental no longer qualifies for a weekly rate. (Dispute this if the rental company is late assigning you to a car.)

I, too, have noticed that making any change to a car rental reservation on line usually refigures the cost to today's rates.
