Anyone have experience w/ both? I have both of them booked for November. The difference is about $135 for the time we will be there (Del Sol more expensive). We have to get 2 rooms because my sister and her hubby can't afford everything (they are poor college students) and we need an extra bed anyway, so we'll have one of our kids sleep in their room.

We can afford either. I'm wondering if one is "better" than the other. I just need close and clean. I know that Del Sol is closER, and honestly at the end of the day those 5 minutes are worth being closer (usually) but if Del Sol is total crap, we will stick w/ Anaheim plaza.

Any thoughts?

If you are taking cars, the Del Sol has a parking problem, tight and few spots, API has the best parking on the street, tons of spots.

Del Sol has a small pool and spa, API has a small spa and huge pool.

Del Sol is pretty small, API is a big sprawling resort with nice grounds.

Del Sol has a simple cold breakfast, API does not.

API does have an onsite restaurant with abouta $12 breakfast buffet that lets a kid eat free with a paying adult, of course Del Sol has a Denny's in front of it.

We won't be taking a car, but my parents and sister/BIL will be. They don't plan to leave once they are parked though.

We won't be using the pool in late November. Brrrr!

I'm not hugely concerned about the size of the resort. My main concern is cleanliness. Carpets especially. Any thoughts on those?

And Del Sol is about a 5-6 minute walk and Anaheim Plaza is 8-10. I often end up walking back alone w/ sleeping kids at the end of the day. We've done Hojo's twice and stayed at Desert Inn in March and the walk to DI was so much easier for me (and less scary as a lone woman w/ kids in the dark)...

Breakfast is nice, but it seems like it's mostly carbs. We were planning on a von's delivery anyway. My kids aren't big breakfast eaters at all.

It's kind of 50/50, huh? What would you do?

We have always found Anaheim Plaza Hotel clean. Decent parking, there is a small charge for parking, but they have never actually charged us. I have never tried the breakfast.

Del Sol was dirty, parking tight, and the breakfast was donuts and powdered drinks.

Del Sol is a few minutes closer.

What would I do? My family has already determined we will never stay at Del Sol again, so it is easy, Anaheim Plaza.

never stayed at del sol but at desert inn(?) in front of it very tight crowded parking constant traffic flow very noisy area no way will i ever stay there again.

APH is about 2-3 min farther away but always clean (most carpets at hotels on harbor are filthy.) the carpets sometimes show the wear and tear here also. it is a much nicer property and 1/2 the price per room. wouldn't stay anywhere else on harbor. it is an older prop. but very well taken care of. IMHO plus it is one of the few on Harbor that isn't full of disney pkg travelers resulting in (for us) a much nicer time.

A problem you may encounter is if you arrive at the Del Sol after park closing is finding a spot, otherwise parking and leaving the car should be ok.

Once of the things I noticed about my stay at the Del Sol was the carpet. It was a very nice carpet and perfectly clean.

Del Sol yes about 5-6 minutes it's next to the Desert Inn, but all the room are back from the street. Anaheim Plaza is the same distance as Hojo, and 7 minutes.

Del Sol also had out a couple cereals and fruit, one a day I recall oranges, apples and then bananas.

If I wear to pick from the two it would simply be who is cheapest.

We're planning on arriving Sunday Nov 25th. I'm not sure what TIME my family will be driving in (we're flying since we're further). Probably late afternoon. Certainly not after park closing since we'll want an early start to Monday.

Skiing, when did you stay at Del Sol that the carpet looked clean? That is a MAJOR factor for us since we have a toddler that likes to run around barefoot.

I still haven't decided...

Anaheim Plaza:
Clean (from what I'm reading)
Not any further than Hojo's (opposite direction)
CHEAP

Del Sol
A few minutes closer
A little more expensive (but not much)

It was a few years.

My personal experience was this. When I booked it the reviews didn't look good, lots of mentions of dirty and run down. But I planned this last minute and wanted something close and couldn't find anything else on the block. But when I checked in I was shockingly surprised, it was basic, nothing fancy but clean and the room looked in great condition.

At API one thing that happened to me was I made a bunch of room requests, and got a room that satisfied all of my little requests. I couldn't of been happier with that. Also the staff was very nice, front desk, maids and the maintenance/ gardeners.

Both of these properties are old, so the buildings obviously have been fixed over and over. Patched parking lots, cracks in sidewalks, edges showing old paint behind new paint.....

We're not picky at all about cosmetic issues, I just need #1. No bugs. #2 No mold #3 not nasty carpet or boogers on the walls. (we stayed at a motel 6 that had all 3 and I wanted to run out of there so fast!)

Well, Del Sol is off the table, but now we're looking at Ramada maingate. LOL!

Ramada Maingate is a good choice its rates tend to fall above the bottom, but below the top. With mid range pricing it's also clean and decent. A little better too, nice pool for young kids and better breakfast.

Try thier FB page Ramada Maingate ATP, it sometimed has link to good deals, like free upgrade to delux rooms or a gas rebate.

I've been emailing the manager and she's been working with our budget. She's been super helpful, and it looks like we'll be staying there in November.:dance3:

Their breakfast sounds decent, and will save us about $25 a day, so the difference between Anaheim Plaza and Ramada wasn't much.
