Do you really need to shout?

Many of us prefer the classic ships over the newer ships.

We found the onboard account available on the TV on both our Fantasy cruises was junk. How hard is it to stop by Guest Services to get a printout?
While not "on demand" there's lots of movies available for viewing on the TV. And really, why spend all that time in your room watching movies?
I've found the elevators on all the ships to be small.
We've never run out of things to do on any of the ships.

I kind of agree with your first points...it would be nice to check accounts on the TV, we always do, and it saves us a trip to Guest Services. We savor every minute of our cruise and standing in line at GS isn't something we savor :)

We haven't viewed too many movies, but we do enjoy watching them, especially late at night. On demand is nice on the Fantasy/Dream, but wasn't that big a deal missing on the Dream. We just checked the schedule and chose something in the late evenings.

Since we've always found plenty of fun activities on both ships, I haven't really experienced "less" activities on one or the other. I guess if you counted them, there might be fewer on the Wonder, but honestly we hadn't noticed. If you have found that you were running out of things to do on the Wonder, and not on the Dream, then probably for your situation you're right!

Although we have a blast on all the ships, I understand some people prefer the classic ships (Wonder and Magic) and some prefer the newer ones. Our experience includes so much our interaction with other cruisers and the CMs that the (to us minor) differences between the two classes doesn't matter.

But if you prefer the Dream for any reason, I can't argue there! It is a fabulous ship.

We 2 senior adults were on the Wonder in January and the Fantasy in February. Truly had no complaints on either. I prefer to watch movies in the theaters on board, and saw plenty on these cruises! On both ships we found great seating for fireworks viewing away from the party, and enjoyed Palos.

Well, one is 16 years old and the other is 4. Technology has come a long way since the Wonder come into service. The Dream is bigger, hence bigger elevators. They both have their own pros and cons. I love all the ships. Love all the bells and whistles of the Fantasy when we were onboard earlier this month but also very much looking forward to our May EBTA Magic cruise. We were on the MV of the Magic back in 1998 so she has a special place in my heart!!

In 32 DCL cruises I have never sat in the cabin and watched a movie. I am sure many do and enjoy it but having movies on demand does not mean anything to me.

Just curious, which ship did you sail first? We've only done Dream class and have the Wonder coming up in September. There's a part of me that is a little nervous about it but.......at the end of the day, it's still a cruise and I know it's going to be awesome.

DW LOVES CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES ON HER ICE CREAM .... I LOVE WHIP CREAM ON MY VANILLA ICE CREAM (even though I've been told that its redundant).

and she likes my ice cream as much as I do and I like hers as much as she does. What I'm trying to say is that all four DCL ships are great and each has it's own personality. Some people and ships go together better than other combinations. The Dream (not the ship, her cruises) are not what I want out of a cruise (short and Nassau .... 'nuff said).

I guess that I could say that the
  • Fantasy is deficient because there are too many people on board and it overcrowds Castaway Cay and doesn't have Twist and Spout
  • Dream is deficient because she doesn't have satellite falls and the "water works" ...oh yea its called the AquaLab like the Fantasy and where's twist n spout for the adults?
  • Magic / Wonder are deficient because ... well I guess those differences were mentioned above
But why :confused3 - I have not had a bad cruise on DCL on any of the ships.

I've never sat in my room and watched a movie - have never had the time even on both of the PC cruises with 10+ sea days each. I have watched lots of parts of movies ... when we are in the room changing clothes going from one activity to another.

I've been on all 4 ships. I'm glad they're all different with their own pros, cons, nuances, features, etc. I feel like it gives each their own personality. For me, the Wonder is an elegant lady. Not loaded out with bells & whistles, no flashiness, but beautiful & elegant all the same. The Wonder is fabulous for relaxing. Comfortable. Not too big. Not too small. She's just right. We <3 her!

HEY THIS REMINDS ME

Sometimes when I have a dumb question I like to tailgate it into another thread instead of starting my own--

What are the ice cream options on the Dream? Is it just soft serve? Are there toppings? I've seen this intriguing picture that looks like a buffet of scoops of ice cream but I can't track the photo's provenance.

I have cruised 2 DCL ships, the Dream and the Wonder.:ccat:

I prefer the look of the Dream (artistry) versus the Wonder, but I like the ambiance (intimacy) of the Wonder better.

One thing for sure , no matter what DCL ship I am on I WILL enjoy it. :P

Like the other ships, the ice cream station has soft-serve machines.

Possibly what you saw was a picture of dessert in the MDRs? They do have scooped ice cream sundaes.

In Cabanas they have hard scooped ice cream daily. It is in the dessert station and a CM will serve it to you. Flavors vary. I had a Pineapple Coconut that was delish!!!

There is soft serve on Deck 11 all the time, flavors vary.

Enchanted Garden embarkation lunch also had hard packed ice cream.

At dessert in the MDR's there are usually hard packed ice cream options, sundaes too.

And of course there are the Mickey bars from the MDR's and they can also be ordered through room service even though they do not show up on the room service menu.

Agreed! :)

The Wonder was our first, so she holds a dear place in our hearts. Also, over my 10 and my wife's 15 cruises, we tend to favor our interactions with staff on the Wonder. If I could choose any ship and crew for my own itinerary, it would be the Wonder.

If I could mix and match, it might be the Fantasy with the Wonder's crew, provided one third of the staterooms were empty! Or it might just be the Wonder, as she can fit into ports and places that the Fantasy can't.

We've cruised on the Wonder through the Panama Canal, round-trip Hawaii, and up the California coast. We're waiting to cruise on the Dream til she has some new itineraries, because right now her destinations are quite "deficient" compared to the Wonder.

BTW, the Fantasy is a gorgeous ship; but we prefer the smaller, intimate classics.

Our first cruise will be on the Fantasy, and if we do another DCL I'd like the Magic next. Not only to compare, but I know DS is disappointed that there's no Avengers Academy on the Fantasy, and DD wanted to try Aqua Dunk (?). Frankly I wanted the "adult" pirate show and that's not on the Magic apparently...but we'll see. I'm sure the Fantasy is going to feel huge to us, though.
