Deevy See

Deevy See.. What do you think of her?

  • Hate the site of her, DVC, please get rid of this ridiculous person!

  • I don't like her, but I can live with the foolishness. Grin and bear it.

  • Love her, she makes me smile, and want to buy more points.

  • Who's Deevy See??

I voted with the first option because it was the closest to my view of the character (role). But "hate" is probably too strong.

I have watched her on video and live. If her role was a limited use of a caricature to have some fun introducing BLT, it would have been okay. But building a marketing campaign around that role is irritating. I expect better from Disney.

I so agree. I'm not a fan of the word hate, plus it's really the character not her as a person that I strongly dispise. Your comment about the marketing campaign couldn't be more spot on. I mean come on, it's Disney for crying out loud, where's the creativity!!

i don't hate, hate her.

but i did think it was a huge waste of space in the magazine.

give me a little more substance or don't waste the money to produce that kind of crap. put the silly stuff like that on the internet somewhere but don't put it in the magazine...reserve that space for info about the DVC resorts: refurbs, restaurants, activities that are available...anything but complete fluff...

I totally vote for more substance!!!!! No more fluff! Wouldn't we all like a more informative magazine that speaks more to our home away from home!!

You are right! THERE SHOULD be a male Character!!!! OH MY GOSH! Would that ever be funny!

He would have to be just as nutty and wacky as she is - or the 'YES DEAR' type!

you are absolutely correct!!! Can you imagine how hysterical that would be? :lmao:

Oh my, that would be SOOOOO funny!

I thought there was one, wasn't there a Christmas marketing thing that had Deevy and her "family" watching the Christmas parade and looking at MK Christmas deco?

To me she's just the annoying neighbor we can't help but watch and laugh at.

There is a male character who subs for DVCee at the Welcome Home Wednesday sometimes. I forget his name.

We love the streetmosphere characters. DH even spotted an actor in CA at another theme park, who we had seen at DHS. Boy was he surprised when he was recognized because he was a totally different character.

Anyway, we like the humor, but the Deevy character being "The First Lady" of DVC is ridiculous.

Thank goodness she has toned down the squealing. I remember the Christmas online video with the husband and daughter. My comment was please do not add these characters to the DVC family.

I think she is irritatingly funny. I think Disney could have a better character to represent DVC. As long as I look at her as an inside joke among members, I can find the humor. She should only appear at Welcome Home Wednesdays, as a means for us to not take ourselves too seriously.

I would never pass on anything containing Deevy to a nonmember.

I wonder if alot of people saying they hate her have even seen her perform live? If not you should because she is very funny in my opinion. I see no embarrassment of having her part of DVC, nor do I think it cheapens DVC in any way.

Don't know the "character" well, but I have don't want to read pure fiction in the magazine. There is enough going on within Disney that would be much better served with an article.

Lighten up everyone! She is played by a real person just like you and I trying to make a living in this harsh world. How would you like if someone was putting you down and stirring up problems with your job.

I think she's great.

I think she also exposes some built in "snobbery" amoung DVC owners. The "fear" that she reflects them?? LOL! Seriously, are you that insecure about your DVC purchase that you the advertising needs to impress people with how "classy" you are for buying?

No fear here. :lmao: It's just that if I'm recommending DVC to someone, I want them to feel like I'm recommending a quality product. The current marketing campaign for DVC is poorly crafted, poorly written, and it seems that very little effort went into it. IMO, it's cringe-inducing. In the way that the audience in a nightclub cringes when the stand-up comic is bombing. You just feel embarrassed for the poor person and want it to be over.

We all know how talented Disney's marketing folks are, and we've all seen some of the terrific advertising campaigns Disney has done. Everyone makes mistakes, but their insistence on sticking with this character baffles me.

Their usual advertising 'theme' is to make you picture yourself and your family at one of their destinations.....to make you feel like that's where you want to be, and where you belong. They usually do this by showing you families of all sorts, so consciously or unconsciously, you see a family that looks like yours, having a happy, warm, fuzzy time at some Disney park or resort or cruise.

Also, DVC's marketing has been fairly aspirational. They make the buyer feel like they're taking a step up into the good life, into something exclusive. That's part of why they harp on 'ownership', I'm sure.

That's why it confuses me to no end that they use a character who's soooo over-the-top ill-mannered and dimwitted to push their product. It ain't making the prospective customers say "wow, I wanna be like her!"

I dunno....maybe it's just a matter of location. What would be funny in a streetmosphere character in a theme park, when you're stuffed full of sugar and caffeine, is just plain jarring in your living room at home.

I'm not criticizing the actress at all, from everything I've heard, she's a very nice person and certainly talented enough to be given a wide variety of roles at WDW. She's playing a character in the way she's been hired to do. If the campaign isn't going over well, it's not her fault, it's the fault of the person who's writing the script.

Totally agree. When I look at the Disney park commercials, it makes me want to be there.

Deevy See makes we want to run away. She does not make we want to listen.

LOVE DEEVY! My husband and I get such a kick out of that woman! Yes, campy. Yes, hokey. Yes, over the top. But she's just plain funny and seeing her at Welcome Home Wednesdays is always a treat. Now I'm not much for the videos because I have attention span of an gnat and because DeeVee is best seen live... where she acts and interacts with real people. I don't know how folks don't "get" her. :3dglasses

Yes, I've seen her in person. She is just as annoying in print as in person. Her humor is not my style.

Disney has princesses all over the place. Not one of them is a clownish oaf. Even the Mayor of Main Street is respectable with a certain class about him. The tour guides on the property wear "riding" uniforms that give them a little class. Disney Security at the resort parking lot entrances now wear the white fedora instead of the "cop" hat. When you watch the top 10 tips at WDW, you don't get a clown telling you. Sure, Stacy's a bit over the top, but nothing like Deevy See.

What's wrong with a classy representative for DVC instead of a clown?

I guess some peoples enthusiasm for their distaste of Deevy See is really what throws me for a loop.

:thumbsup2 She is a friend of a friend, and I find all this hatred of the character really disheartening. Yes, I understand some of you do not like her, but please remember that there is a person under that costume and your words do hurt.

I just received my disney files this morning. What a waste of paper. I could not believe that they think we want fake interviews with fictional characters. It is complete dumbing down and I for one want no part it. I will not be going to WHW in September because of Deevy See, I would be embarrassed to take my parents to see such a joke.

I would like a factual newsletter about DVC and Disney Resorts and Parks in general.

We never said we disliked the person. We all understand the concept of playing a role. However, the role is despised by many on this board according to the poll.

I'm sure she is a lovely person without the Deevy See persona. It's "Deevy See" that we don't like, not the person who portrays her.

Again, no one here has said anything bad about the actress, and I'm sure she's not the slightest bit wounded. Actors often play not-so-likable characters. That's part of the job, and they know that fans don't confuse the role with the actor. That would be like saying that Kevin Bacon must be a bad man because he played one in "X Men: First Class". He was a hired to play a character that someone else created, he did it very well, and saying that Sebastian Shaw is an evil, sadistic megalomaniac is not criticism of Kevin Bacon.

The actress who plays Deevy See is a professional, and she's playing the character as she was hired to play it. If some people don't care for the character, it's not criticism of the actress.
