Since we discussed decorative towels why not move on to the soap?:cutie:
Do you have decorative soaps and do you mind if people use them?

We have them and they are for people to use.
You?

I have them and they are for people to use. If they don't use them up then I don't have any reason to buy more! :goodvibes

No bar soaps, decorative or otherwise for my guests. There is nothing grosser than using a wet bar of soap after someone else, well maybe using the damp towel draped on the counter to dry your hands after :rotfl:

I agree about the bar soap thing too. We have foaming soap dispensers but I have flowers that the petals are soap. You pluck some petals and wash up. No soap sharing.

I offer both decorative soaps AND pump soap. The decorative soaps get used down but the pump soap rarely ever has to be refilled so I guess my guests are heels and don't mind. :woohoo:

Once you can't tell what the decorative soaps are supposed to look like anymore they get swapped out for new ones.:cool2:

Oooooooh I have those tooo! I actually just bought them last week and am so excited for the first person other than myself and DH to use them!:dance3:

I started a thread about decorative soaps a while back. I was starting to use one of mine up in the bathtub because I had had it long enough!!! It was a chicken...and you'll be glad to know I did use it up, as well as two pears and a pinecone.

Now I'm working on a second pinecone and then I have a nest of robin's eggs. Apparently I went through quite a decorative soap phase.

I keep a jar of liquid soap in my one guest bathroom for everyone to use. I do have another "guest bath" that has only bar soap. If I know I have guests coming I'll put a fresh one out and move all the others so people know the one in the soapdish is to be used. Once the company has used it I finish it up in the bathtub/shower and put another decorative one out - if I think about it.

I don't want to imply that moving the soap around in my house is a fulltime job. It's just that I used to buy them as souvenirs when I travelled, etc and I had quite a lot of soap built up. I don't even bring the Mickey soap home from WDW anymore - too much soap!!!!

Also, what's gross about using a wet bar of soap? It's not like germs can live on it or anything. I think people who think wet soap is gross are germaphobes who need help!!!

I have decorative soap dispensers that are meant for use. :) I do not put out any type of solid soap for guests.

We are kindred spirits of soap! I am the same way! I have soooo many decorative soaps. I am a sucker for them. I love their cute little designs and their scents. I just can't resist them!

Yes, we have both scented foaming soap, and decorative bar soap and guests are welcome to use whatever one they prefer.

I think, if it's bath soap, people are afraid of finding ***** hairs on the used bars, or worry about where the soap has been.

As for liquid soaps, if you have them for showering, I read people like to use those bath puffs with them. People will rub a bar on themselves, but don't like to run their bare soapy hands around. They'd prefer to hold a soapy bath puff in lieu of the bar.

If it's liquid hand soap, some of them are way too perfumey. I always wonder what they put in some of those thick, pearlized looking liquid soaps.

I'm an Ivory Soap gal, myself. So I don't like a lot of additives or need fancy shapes. :)

In the bathtub?!!!!!!~ Did that hurt?:scared1::eek:;)

Bar soap gets slimy.

I only have liquid soap in a decorative container. It is available for all to use. Of course, there is bar soap in my shower, but I doubt my guests would be reaching in for it.

I think I HAVE to answer this thread... ;)

You will all be happy to know that I DO NOT have decorative soaps! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

(If I see them in the bathroom of another home, I wouldn't use them, but that was probably a given!)

We have "decorative" soaps and hand soap in a pump. The soaps and our hand towels are available for anyone's use... I don't understand why you would have anything out in your bathroom if you didn't want people to use it.

:thumbsup2 I hate slimy bars of soap! Much prefer liquid soaps!

:lmao:

Have any of you used felt covered soap bars? I've recently learned about them. They are completely enclosed in decorative felt, which works as a washcoth and exfoliant scrubbie the same way a bath puff works for liquid soaps.

Here is what some of them look like:

I would not use those. How do you wash the cloth? I mean just because you are rubbing yourself with soap, you are still getting in all the nooks and crannies and that cloth should be washed imo.

What happens to the felt when it gets wet and you rub it on your skin? I would think it would deteriorate a little and leave tiny little pieces of felt all over your body.
I didn't think you were supposed to get felt wet :confused3
