Decorations on Concierge doors...Is it tacky?

Thanks for the input....I think I will decorate it on her actual Birthday and then take it down.

Opinion only of course, but the wood look on the concierge doors is done that way to look nice. A "Happy Birthday" banner is one thing, having the door covered top to bottom with signs and pictures and whatever else is going to detract from that look. It looks messy.

Hi, We will be traveling on the Dream in January for my Daughter's 5th Birthday. I was thinking of decorating the door for her Birthday but, I have heard various comments that people in Concierge don't really decorate and/or it's tacky. Just wondering is this the case or are there some doors decorated? I'm already aware of the type of magnets that are required for those doors. TIA!

I think the tacky one is the person who judges you for decorating your door while on holiday. I love to see the creative ideas people have. Make your door as special as you want and don't worry about anyone else.

I love door decorations, but we don't decorate in concierge because the doors do not take the magnets well. We instead do fish extenders, and hang message boards off the fish as well.

Here comes the "judging" thing. Expressing an opinion (which is what was asked originally), is not "judging". It is expressing an opinion.

Political correctness run amok.

Decorate away, my only caution would be to be careful what you do/use. I remember seeing a door that looked like; at best they used the erasable markers at worst sharpies, because when someone tried to remove it. IT DIDN'T REMOVE, there was a very visible/readable residue left on the door that probably never came off and the door eventually replaced.

This conversation reminds me of mothers who won't let their toddlers/kids wear "licensed" character apparel because it's "tacky". I have to throw the insecurity flag on that! Do what makes you & your kids happy - & don't sweat the Judgy McJudgersons! It's her 5th birthday! On a Disney Cruise! Do it up :) She'll remember it forever

The one cruise I've taken we delivered FEs to concierge staterooms and plenty of doors were decorated. I say go for it!

why not make a nice FE type thing to hang with "Happy Birthday". That way nothing on the door but still decorated

By deeming them "insecure", you are judging.

Oh, the irony...

We had a FE and one magnet on our outer door when we sailed concierge on the Fantasy last summer. You will definitely need the stronger magnets. The rest of our magnets ended up decorating the inside of the door because they weren't strong enough for the outer door.

And so you include yourself in the "Judgy McJudgersons." (It was painful to type that.)

The point is, we all judge. People frequently criticize others for doing so; therein lies the hypocrisy.

And the Internet has made judging other people practically a global sport. It's sad.

In all honesty, a question was asked here. If you want an actual honest answer, one cannot expect all the answers to be what you want to hear! I personally was honest. I honestly don't want to spend the money for a suite in concierge to walk by a ton of "tagging" and that is what it is to...me. There's a birthday on our cruise, but I am keeping it behind close doors! I want to experience the fine woods and atmosphere that concierge is.AGAIN, A question was asked....THIS IS MY ANSWER!...so my question is....why are YOU judging people responses?

My comment was directed only at the OP. Her post seemed to me to express a concern that people on her cruise would have a problem with her door. My comment was to not worry about anyone on her cruise judging her door and just have fun.

I quoted her post, not anyone else's, so I'm not sure why you think I'm criticizing you.

For a 5th year Birthday party, I definitely think it would be really cute. As for magnets on concierge doors in general, I don't have a strong opinion. It's so much more important to me that guests are kind and considerate to each other. If I could choose, I'd let people hang anything they want on their door as long as they try to be nice.
