Hi. I am planning a trip next Oct-Nov. Can you tell me please how the change over happens in the parks from their Halloween decorations to Christmas decorations? Is it overnight or will we have days in between with no decorations? We are planning Halloween and then staying til Nov 10.

1. Is it overnight or

2. will we have days in between with no decorations?

3. We are planning Halloween and then staying til Nov 10.

1. They can do SOME overnight.
2. One or two days CAN be that way.
3. You should be just fine seeing both.

hi, thanks Robo for the info. one other question is i have my resort reservation for the little mermaid room and i want to upgrade to a suite only if free dining comes out for my dates. my dining adr dates would be made before the promo comes out i believe and if they have to cancel my resort reservation and re-book it with the suites, would i lose all my adrs?

ADR's are not directly part of your reservation; they are booked separately and the timing for you to book is based on whether you stay on-site or off-site.

You could change the ressie ten times and it will not affect your ADR's. Believe me, people change their resort reservation more than once every time a better discount comes along.

We were there this past Halloween from Oct 29-Nov5. Went to MNSSHP on 10/30 - completely Halloween. Went back to MK on Sat, Nov. 1 - still some Halloween, but starting to look like Christmas. Went back on Tues, Nov 5 - ALL Christmas. So, I don't think you will ever have NO decorations, just a combination on some days! It was pretty cool.

the week we want to go is never offered for free dining, the first week of november. we are going from oct 30-nov 10, so i read on wdwprep that if your arrival day falls on the free dining dates then you can get the rest of your trip for free dining even if those dates are not listed for free dining. can anyone varify that this is true?

My dates were October 29th through November 9th two years ago. We will be doing October 30th or 31st- November 10th this coming year. We loved this period. This past year we went Mid-November and although we had a great time much preferred the late October early November.

As for the decorations it is certainly the best of both worlds. You have awesome Halloween decorations and then overnight the changes start to occur. It is funny because there was a day of the crossover with Halloween window decoration of main street and Christmas banners across the street. Once the Christmas starts it goes very fast.

The year we went during this period we made sure to stay until we could see the Christmas lights at Hollywood. You will see the Castle lit and the experience the Christmas atmosphere.

What I liked perhaps the most in hindsight is the fact that the period after Halloween had no parties and MK was not constantly closing early for a Christmas party. This was the biggest issue I had with the mid-Novemebr period. It was real drag having to plan around that constantly.

We went to the Halloween Party on Halloween and did not really enjoy it too much. I know people love the party so that is really an individual taste. I do like the decorations and general atmosphere of both Halloween and Christmas. You will have such a good time!!:thumbsup2

True. As long as you check in on a date that offers Free Dining, you get Free Dining for the length of your stay. Example: Free Dining runs September 10th through September 30th. You are checking in on Sept 30th and checking out on October 8th. Since Free Dining is still being offered on the 30th, you will get it until you check out.

The only way you wouldn't get Free Dining for your entire stay is if you switched resorts partway through. Example: you check into All Star Movies resort on September 30th, when Free Dining is offered. You check out of that resort and switch to the Contemporary on October 5th for the last 3 nights of your vacation. Since Free Dining is NOT offered anymore on the day you check into the Contemporary, you WILL NOT get Free Dining for those last 3 nights, but you DID have it for the 5 nights you stayed at the All Star resort.

Hope that helps. :wizard:
