Decorating your resort room?

ah its taken me soooo long to read through this whole thread! i'm so glad i did!! i got the best ideas for our window! i've been shopping for a couple weeks now..no luck on any mickey or minnie themed window clings! i'm thinking i'm just going to print signs and cut out mickey heads and hang them up!

i'm super excited!!

p.s. i really want a circuit!!!!!! esp with the all the mickey cartridges i wish i could of asked santa for one! lol

I put LGMHPCs in our windows (its cool when you get a corner room with extra windows) and I usually put one up on the sign that has our room number on it - there's room just above the number for a LGMH. I need to get more LGMHPCs but whenever I'm at HD, the paint dept. is slow and I always feel like everyone in the store is watching me. I usually chicken out and leave without them. I talked DF into getting some for me a couple times, and the first time he got the wrong color green. One night when we were both in there, I took a few and he took a few and he made us go through the checkout line to ask if we can pay for them, he says they have a bar code and why not pay for them instead of being accused of stealing? LOL the cashier was like, "Those are free paint samples." Another time I was leaving my dentists office (about 20 miles from my local HD) and passed a HD, so I stopped in figuring, they don't know me in this town. LOL I lingered near the paint chips, took a couple LG ones and the salesmen came over and gave me a sales pitch about the Disney paints, recommended some colors to go with alien green (how embarrassing that he actually thought I was going to paint a room with alien green!! ) And he dragged me over to a section selling dented discounted cans of that color for "cheap" LMAO!

During one of my trips over the past few years, when other Disers saw my window, they'd hang a LGMH with their screen name on it, on my door for me. And I was doing to same when I spied anyone who identified themselves as Disers. I've met a few Disers through having them on my purse or DF's backpack, and I have a focker watch tshirt that gets me noticed and a few lime green Disney shirts. I think it's fun to notice other Disers and be noticed by other Disers!

this will be the first time we are going....we are a young family w/2 children...Me being the only one who has been to disney when younger!!!!! I am so excited to go with my kids!!!!!!!!!!!!

well thats kinda the problem....my son --really my stepson-- is only here on the wkends and is going to be 7 and although i know he will love it, he isn't as excited. I know he will be when he gets there however...and my daughter will only be 2 when we go so she really has no idea..lol

i read about the green ears, and i was thinking if it woudl be silly to let the kids put up a color they both like...trying to keep them involved...and then get 2 for my hubs and mysefl....i am kinda lost...LOL

For those of you who decorate your windows and doors while at Disney, what do you do? I read on disboards about someone who put a dry erase board on their door. Has anyone done that? Does it get good response? I wondered what was allowed and not allowed.

It is allowed so long as it is not permanent .. WE have done it many times to make the experience unique for us.

Keep checking at different Dollar Trees if you have more than one in your area. They are sprouting up everyone around me and I live in a small, southern town in SC. The other day ours had Cars, Disney Princesses dressed in gold gowns(we used these last year to decorate) and High School Musical. If you need any of these, just send me a personal message and I'll be glad to get them for you-I'd only charge for actual cost and lowest shipping fee. NO problem! EBAY is always another good place to find window stickers. Hope this helps!!!!!

I want to hang a white borad on our door during our stay at POP.Has any one staying at pop done this?,did the staff and POP guest not mess with IT(like steal It or take it off and throw it away)?,and howe did you get It to stick to the door with out messing up the door?. I would love to get messeages from other Dis'ers and guest from the floor.

We had one on our door at Pop last year. It came with magnets on the back so it just stuck to the door. We had no problem with anyone taking it, and most people wrote really sweet messages on it - like "We're on our honeymoon" or "Our twins 1st trip", etc.

Of course, someone then just HAD to write an obscene message on it.

And then someone (don't know if it was the same person or not) stole the cap off the marker so it dried out and wouldn't write anymore.

I would probably do it again, because most people are nice, but just be prepared for some not so nice people too.

You know what I think would be cool...kind of like a log of the different resorts and the size of the windows, whether or not the door is magnetic, etc. For example, people staying at POFQ or POR may not realize the windows have the lattice so a poster wouldn't fully show. I don't know how many people are willing to take a ruler to Disney but with so many decorators I think we could amke a list pretty quickly.

I was working on that at one time, but since I dont stay at the values.... hardly ever... though I am in April.... it just hasnt been a priority

I have been told, that ALL doors are metal because of fire code.

So did the Laminateing provide a sevice to write on,and were you still able to wipe It off? that sounds like a really neat Idea.
