Decorating your resort room?

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S!!! To all of my fellow window designers. We have been back for about 2 weeks, but I wanted to share our window decorating exploits. We were adventerous this Christmas Vacation and stayed at 3 different resorts. We started at the All Star Sports. There were 3 different families. We have decorated before, but my brother, his wife, and our parents had no idea what was about to happen. I had brought enough decorations for all three rooms.:cool1: Everyone loved them. CMs were everywhere, no one said a word. Decorations down, on to Ft. Wilderness Cabins. Now everyone wanted to help decorate. It was so much fun. We were there three days, no one said a word about the decorations. Down with the decorations and CBR here we come. Up with the decorations. We laughed so much deciding where things should go. Corner room two windows, how lucky could you get. Still no one complained about the decorations. Down the decorations came, packed away for next year. And yes, they will go back up again next year.:woohoo:

I cannot wait to decorate my window in 23 days!!
I'm just not sure what to do! Where do you guys find the window clings??? I found one Minne Mouse one day after christmas. I haven't been able to find anymore. Help! :rotfl:

Dollar Tree almost always has them, if there's one near you. I've also used the clear plastic placemats with Disney characters on them (found them at Dollar General & Dollar Tree). They're good because you only need a couple.

We leave in 10 days!! I usually plan out how we are going to decorate the window but haven't had any time!! Any last minute, quick ideas?? I have a TON of Mickey heads from HD in all different colors but I don't know what to do with them. Last year I just put them all over the window. HELP!!

I did something similar to "thewesterberg", except I punched holes in the ears and strung them on a long curly ribbon, then hung it in the window horizontally like a garland.

Also, see above suggestion about the placemats - easy and cute!

I'll try to post a photo later.

I thought of theming are window repesenting or state, and haveing a white borad attached to the door for people from our state or just any were to put down messeages. Any good ideas to attach the white borad, and paper to the windows with out leaving any marks?

I but I'm not sure where to get the designs or the window cling paper....
 I know...I'm clueless!:confused3

I have the cling paper and it is in an AVERY Kit like what you would buy for labels or business cards ( I can't remember where we got it). Maybe Walmart or an office supply store that carries those type of printing products (like Staples) would carry them.

Hi All,

Am back from our Christmas vacation at the World. It was extremely crowded this year, even though this is their busiest season it was even more so than last year.

We decorated our window with some snowflake window clings, a jellied window cling I found at WalMart that said "Wish Big!" (which I thought was very appropriate for the Wishes theme), and some red and green Mickey heads from HD. I used a suction cup on the mirror to hang our Mickey & Minnie stocking. On our table we had our Christmas tree and a large stuffed Mickey Mouse. We used the towel Mickey that mousekeeping put on our bed to decorate the table. The next day, the large towel Mickey had been replaced with a smaller one that fit better, and the cutest towel girl, all dressed up for Christmas was sitting next to our stuffed Mickey. Our mousekeeper told us that she thought the room looked very nice and festive and it brought the Christmas spirit to her while she was at work.

While we were there, we had an issue with our door lock twice. The first time it happened, maintenance came and reprogrammed it. She commented on how cute the room looked. The next day it happenened again. The army of people that showed up commented on the room and the spirit of Christmas we conveyed.

I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how.

My opinion is simple...we go to Disney for Disney taste not what you think is fun or in good taste. "Creativity" is in the eye of the beholder.
Nancy, I'm sorry you feel like you are being bashed. I think that many people feel that as strongly as you feel about why you go to Disney is as strongly as they feel. We go to Disney to celebrate. Disney encourages celebrations, wishes and a million dreams every day. Walt was known for inspiring his imagineers to imagine bigger and better and I think Walt would be proud of the way he has inspired other people's creativity when they visit his fantasy world. A lot of his ideas promote tolerance of other people's beliefs, traditions and ways of life, look at "It's A Small World" and the World Showcase at Epcot for two prime examples. In these exhibits he was trying to convey the message that we are all different, but should all treat others and be treated with love, respect and tolerance of each other. I truly do hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and all your wishes came true. I hope the new year brings you and yours peace and joy, and I hope you can carry a little piece of Walt's message in your heart.

With warm regards,:grouphug:

Just thought I would let you all know that Walgreens had some very cute Mickey and Minnie Christmas window clings marked 75% off. So if you plan on going over the holidays next year, you might want to snap some up!:)

I worked all morning and got all of my window decorations ready for the trip. I hope they'll look okay. I usually plan way in advance and slowly make everything. This year it will be just thrown together. I'll post pictures anyway.

Just a couple of quick questions I have after reading through this thread::confused3

What is a CM?
What is the free dining plan and how does it work?
What is the significance of a CM knowing that I have a lime green mickey head?

Thanks for your patience with a newbie! :thanks:

Just a couple of quick questions I have after reading through this thread::confused3

What is a CM? Stands for Cast Member. Those who work for Disney
What is the free dining plan and how does it work? Free Dining is offered at certain times as an incentive for people to book a trip during a specific time.
What is the significance of a CM knowing that I have a lime green mickey head? I'm not sure about the CM needing to know about it but a lime green Mickey head is the "Official" mascot of the DIS. If you see a Mickey Head on someones bag, hat, etc more then likely they post on the DIS.

Thanks for your patience with a newbie! :thanks:

Posted above in red.

Ok!! Thank you so much! I'll be keeping my eyes open for the Mickey heads when we go.

In the meantime, I found the website that explains all the abbreviations. It wouldn't let me actually post it since I don't have 10 posts yet. But I'm gettng there!

How do you know when they are offering the dining plan?

Thanks everyone!

Aristocats_lover SO ARE WE!!!!!!!!!

At least that's what our plans are. We haven't actually booked yet, but soon!
I can't wait! By then it will have been 2 years exactly since our last Disney trip!

Are you doing the parks at all, before or after the cruise? DH wants to go for 4 days before, but don't know if it will work out. :confused3

That's so cool that we might be on the same cruise! Have you signed up on the cruise thread for that date? :)

larleo-

We are signed up on the cruise thread! This will be the first time we've cruised...and I am so excited! We booked last April (can you believe it?) and are eagerly awaiting September.

Since we live in FL, we are passholders and go to the parks a lot, usually once a month except for the very crowded times (learned my lesson on year at Easter...) but we are thinking about spending the day we disembark there since we will be passing thru on the way home anyways, and then it won't be so depressing as we are getting off the boat! ;)

I am starting to think about our cruise door magnets as well! When I found out people decorate the doors like the resorts windows, I was super excited.

I picked upBlue lights for the window , already had red so my theme is gonna be Patriotic!! I have red and blue MHs and red stars gotta find some blue and afew Flag window clings !!
