Hi All,
Am back from our Christmas vacation at the World. It was extremely crowded this year, even though this is their busiest season it was even more so than last year.
We decorated our window with some snowflake window clings, a jellied window cling I found at
WalMart that said "Wish Big!" (which I thought was very appropriate for the Wishes theme), and some red and green Mickey heads from HD. I used a suction cup on the mirror to hang our Mickey & Minnie stocking. On our table we had our Christmas tree and a large stuffed Mickey Mouse. We used the towel Mickey that mousekeeping put on our bed to decorate the table. The next day, the large towel Mickey had been replaced with a smaller one that fit better, and the cutest towel girl, all dressed up for Christmas was sitting next to our stuffed Mickey. Our mousekeeper told us that she thought the room looked very nice and festive and it brought the Christmas spirit to her while she was at work.
While we were there, we had an issue with our door lock twice. The first time it happened, maintenance came and reprogrammed it. She commented on how cute the room looked. The next day it happenened again. The army of people that showed up commented on the room and the spirit of Christmas we conveyed.
I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how.
My opinion is simple...we go to Disney for Disney taste not what you think is fun or in good taste. "Creativity" is in the eye of the beholder.
Nancy, I'm sorry you feel like you are being bashed. I think that many people feel that as strongly as you feel about why you go to Disney is as strongly as they feel. We go to Disney to celebrate. Disney encourages celebrations, wishes and a million dreams every day. Walt was known for inspiring his imagineers to imagine bigger and better and I think Walt would be proud of the way he has inspired other people's creativity when they visit his fantasy world. A lot of his ideas promote tolerance of other people's beliefs, traditions and ways of life, look at "It's A Small World" and the World Showcase at Epcot for two prime examples. In these exhibits he was trying to convey the message that we are all different, but should all treat others and be treated with love, respect and tolerance of each other. I truly do hope that you had a wonderful holiday season and all your wishes came true. I hope the new year brings you and yours peace and joy, and I hope you can carry a little piece of Walt's message in your heart.
With warm regards,
Su
