Decorating your resort room?

Just back from the world! We decorated our door and window at POFQ without any problems. I forgot to take pictures :headache: but just wanted to let everyone know that I was not threatened with a fee or anything.

I wonder I ticked off some of the negative nellies from the other thread? You know, with my "ghetto" decorations that ruined the appearance of the resort?!?! :rotfl2:

Sounds awesome!:goodvibes Too bad you didn't take any pictures, we would have loved to see them!~ That's good to hear about the fees though. I've been curious about that for awhile.

What are the mickey heads at home depot? There is a home depot 5 miles from the house and I want the green mickey heads to put on my door! Will someone please tell me how to get them?

Thanks for asking! I was totally lost too...:surfweb:

They are the Disney paint samples at Home Depot...some of them are in the shape of Mickey heads.

I have my decorations packed for our trip! we leave on Monday morning. I have christmas window clings, lights, mickey heads, and the best thing of all...a picture that my 2 year old painted (you can imagine what it looks like lol). she wanted to help. I will take pics and post when we get back. We are staying at CBR this time too so we will see if we get any complaints haha.

We have our Disney Christmas Decoration Box packed and ready to go, too. We leave this Sunday for our annual Christmas vacation at the World. This year will be especially special because I graduate nursing school on Saturday. No worries, no studies and no books to take along this time!!:yay:

I found Disney Princess Clings at Dollar Tree today .They are Christmas but not too obviously so will use them next year. Still planning a Patriotic Window for my May Solo trip!!

There are several threads started about the window decorations having to be taken down.
You might want to check it out before all your planning!

Yeah, we all know...that thread is really old...and I have been several times since, decorated each time, and talked to management about it. Not to mention, if you read THIS thread, lots of these pictures are from recent trips. Also, aren't you the person who "had a fit" when you saw decorations at a deluxe, and then "later that day they were taken down"? I hope you had fun hurting someone else's vacation.

Just thought I'd report that we had window decor up (and changed it each day to a different theme) at:

POP Century from 11/16 to 11/30
POR (Oak Manor) from 11/30 to 12/7
CBR (Jamica) from 12/7 to 12/14 (Christmas lights up too)

We saw our mousekeeper (and other mousekeepers at the resort) many times over the course of our visit and often received comments on how fun/nice/cute the decor looked. I didn't do window clings, instead I printed them all on cardstock and used double sided tape to put them up. We were careful to be sure that all the tape came down before we left and didn't feel we left any mess for mousekeeping to clean up.

While we were at POP Century one morning an ambulance came to take someone down the hall away.....lots of management wandering around, including one who requested that we go back into our room for a moment while the gurney came through.....the girls asked him if they could trade pins at the same time he asked us to stay inside, so he came back into the room with us....traded pins and then struck up small talk with the girls about the window decor. It thought it was cool that we had a daily theme and said he would try to come back and see tomorrow's theme. So he was definitely cool with our doing the decor.

At POR we had someone who even took pictures of OUR windows......it was a bit weird to be lying in bed watching TV and have light bulbs go off outside our window, lol. But we could hear the little girl getting excited over the Princesses so we knew what was happening. Not sure if it was the same folks the other nights, but it happened three times that we were home to see. Maybe other nights while we were out for all we know.

I honestly think that the folks that were asked to remove them must have had something on there that was potentially or actually damaging......like the family that used window paint. No one I encounted over the entire month even looked grumpy about our decor....instead they went out of their way to compliment us on them. I can't think of a single time that a Disney employee was near our window when we were going in or out that they didn't comment......if they disapproved I would think they'd simply walk by....instead they made positive comments. I would imagine that in some tiny way it brightens their day to see the decorated windows.....imagine how boring it must be to do the same thing all day in rooms that look exactly identical. It's kinda like at work when you come across an employee with something personal on their desk....it brightens the place up for just a second and stops making it look like Stepford town.

And for those that don't enjoy the decor, I'm sorry you can't see the happiness in it. I guess this time of year must be particularly painful for you what with your neighbors' lawns all full of those tacky reindeer that glow and move, or those blow up snowglobes.....and those trees and lights and stockings that you have to look at while you drive to your own barren house....well, it must just make your tiny little heart shrink even smaller (and sorry about that green skin of yours, hopefully a little summer sun with help you Mr Grinch....er....sir.) And please, avoid Hollywood Studios at night.....those Osborne lights would probably land you in the hospital and even avoiding that side of the park won't really help because the glow from it can be seen in the sky above the park. So for your own health, please stay away! The other parks are decorated but not nearly as much so perhaps they would be something you can simply grumble about.....but just in case, be sure your family (you do have family don't you?) carefully reviews the maps for each park to identify where the Defib machines are located in case you need them.

Happy holidays everyone!

we just got back on the 20th from CBR and we had our window decorated. No one said anything to us about it. We were even talking to our mousekeeper and she didn't say anything about it. I will post pics as soon as i put them onto photobucket. The only thing i was mad about is that someone stole my marker so no one could sign my door. :confused3

neverenoughwdw takes great joy in ensuring that only there delicate sensibilities are met. Dont let it bother you, there are those who get ruffled over the practice no matter what. Personally, I enjoy seeing all the crativity on display!

I don't appreciate the bashing & then editing.
Why is it so wrong that we disagree on how things look?

My opinion is simple...we go to Disney for Disney taste not what you think is fun or in good taste. "Creativity" is in the eye of the beholder.

I am....why not??

CBR here I come (01-07-09 to 01-11-09):cloud9: Ok....and to add a different twist on this issue....I look at this this way:

I like eating french fries with my BBQ & NOT potato salad.
YOU might like eating a BBQ sandwich with potato salad & NOT french fries.

That don't make my form of eating better than your or vice versa.

 ** It's all in a matter of personal taste**

I cannot wait to decorate my window in 23 days!!
I'm just not sure what to do! Where do you guys find the window clings??? I found one Minne Mouse one day after christmas. I haven't been able to find anymore. Help! :rotfl:

We leave in 10 days!! I usually plan out how we are going to decorate the window but haven't had any time!! Any last minute, quick ideas?? I have a TON of Mickey heads from HD in all different colors but I don't know what to do with them. Last year I just put them all over the window. HELP!!

One thing I did was ahead of time I taped Mickey heads onto a piece of string (you could use fish line or I used embroidery floss). Tied a loop at the top. Then I used suction cups and hung the chain of Mickey heads just hanging straight down - Kind of like a beaded curtain, Mickey Mouse style! You could even do a Mickey head "sandwich" with the string running between so if it twists, you have a Mickey head on both sides.
