There are several threads started about the window decorations having to be taken down.
You might want to check it out before all your planning!
Just thought I'd report that we had window decor up (and changed it each day to a different theme) at:
POP Century from 11/16 to 11/30
POR (Oak Manor) from 11/30 to 12/7
CBR (Jamica) from 12/7 to 12/14 (Christmas lights up too)
We saw our mousekeeper (and other mousekeepers at the resort) many times over the course of our visit and often received comments on how fun/nice/cute the decor looked. I didn't do window clings, instead I printed them all on cardstock and used double sided tape to put them up. We were careful to be sure that all the tape came down before we left and didn't feel we left any mess for mousekeeping to clean up.
While we were at POP Century one morning an ambulance came to take someone down the hall away.....lots of management wandering around, including one who requested that we go back into our room for a moment while the gurney came through.....the girls asked him if they could trade pins at the same time he asked us to stay inside, so he came back into the room with us....traded pins and then struck up small talk with the girls about the window decor. It thought it was cool that we had a daily theme and said he would try to come back and see tomorrow's theme. So he was definitely cool with our doing the decor.
At POR we had someone who even took pictures of OUR windows......it was a bit weird to be lying in bed watching TV and have light bulbs go off outside our window, lol. But we could hear the little girl getting excited over the Princesses so we knew what was happening. Not sure if it was the same folks the other nights, but it happened three times that we were home to see. Maybe other nights while we were out for all we know.
I honestly think that the folks that were asked to remove them must have had something on there that was potentially or actually damaging......like the family that used window paint. No one I encounted over the entire month even looked grumpy about our decor....instead they went out of their way to compliment us on them. I can't think of a single time that a Disney employee was near our window when we were going in or out that they didn't comment......if they disapproved I would think they'd simply walk by....instead they made positive comments. I would imagine that in some tiny way it brightens their day to see the decorated windows.....imagine how boring it must be to do the same thing all day in rooms that look exactly identical. It's kinda like at work when you come across an employee with something personal on their desk....it brightens the place up for just a second and stops making it look like Stepford town.
And for those that don't enjoy the decor, I'm sorry you can't see the happiness in it. I guess this time of year must be particularly painful for you what with your neighbors' lawns all full of those tacky reindeer that glow and move, or those blow up snowglobes.....and those trees and lights and stockings that you have to look at while you drive to your own barren house....well, it must just make your tiny little heart shrink even smaller (and sorry about that green skin of yours, hopefully a little summer sun with help you Mr Grinch....er....sir.) And please, avoid Hollywood Studios at night.....those Osborne lights would probably land you in the hospital and even avoiding that side of the park won't really help because the glow from it can be seen in the sky above the park. So for your own health, please stay away! The other parks are decorated but not nearly as much so perhaps they would be something you can simply grumble about.....but just in case, be sure your family (you do have family don't you?) carefully reviews the maps for each park to identify where the Defib machines are located in case you need them.
Happy holidays everyone!
