Ok. Seeing all the cooL pictures of the Whitehall room which is probably where our mad hatter tea party brunch reception will be. We are going to do all the mad hatter multiple color place settings and centerpieces and the like. Not a ton of other floral nor any of the props that are offered with the party package as they are insanely expensive. The decor of that room being Victorian lends itself easily. BUT surely there must be something inexpensive or even DIY that could bring color up towards the ceiling???! Budget is a concern and I also don't want to be super wasteful just to have decor. I am sure the planner would have suggestions when we get to that stage in another couple months, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions thoughts or advice!

Thanks!

maybe the cieling title sounds a little crazy! i just mean there must be something that could bring decor and color upwards, not all on the floor, that doesn't have a david tutera-esque budget!

How about some bright colored tooling? I've seen it done in white, but the bright colors would be nice for your theme.:thumbsup2

I think that would be awesome and is probably the ideal, but I bet that falls into the big bucks category..... Balloons of sone sort are colorful but not real wedding like he elegant. Maybe they will gave a way to do up the chandelier hat doesn't cost $500!

What about different lighting? It may not be as noticeable during the day, but could still bring some extra colour in.

What about bright colored lanterns from the ceiling that you can purchase yourself? Those are pretty affordable. It would looke David Tuteraish without spending wads of $$$$$$.

i found this link on martha stewart (can't post the picture directly because i am at a work computer!!) http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/tips-for-the-perfect-reception

and they do something also very very cool with balloons. the lantern idea is a great one, but i can't imagine how we could hang them ourselves (either getting the persons to do it for me before our 930 ceremony or disney letting us poke holes in the cieling or whatnot...)!!

the cost of the plain tulle and lights is starting at 2K!!! we are at the top of our budget, so somehow its gonna have to be DIY and cheap!!!!

The balloon idea is awesome. We are using Mickey Head balloons inba centerpiece for the kids table, but I love them tied around the guest napkins too. Very clever. For the lanterns, there are ways to hang them w/o poking holes in the ceiling(I had a few hung in my dorm room & string lights too, hung without tacks). Sorry I didn't realize your wedding is that early in the morning.

I wanted to hung up lanterns at my tea party but also felt the same why that there is no way disney will let me hang them. I would love an idea to fr bring the color into the ceiling in a non expensive way.

So I found this not sure how to make it yet but am going to play with it and hang bright lanterns from it and set them on my tea party table. It brings come color up.

I just can not figure out what material they used coming out of the vase.

cool idea!! glad to have the link to your planning journal to check out too!! looks like you could have some kind of sticks and hang up the lanterns. my issue is we are having a small wedding, not too many people, i don't want to overburden my small wedding party/guest list with running around flinging things up and taking them down so early in the day!!!!!

i think once i get to talk with someone, they might have good ideas and i will be anxious to see what you come up with!!!!
