Declining 2nd set of magic bands for split stay

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I thought I read that the second set of magic bands for a split stay can be declined on MDE but I can't see any option to do that. If I don't customize the second set will they send gray bands to me anyway? I don't really want the second set and I don't want to waste them. Thanks.
 
You have to decline them. If you simply don't customize, yes, you will get grey bands.
 
I've been ignoring Magic Band requests for at least our last 10 trips now. At least with us, when we don't respond to email requests to customize them, they tell us they will be waiting for us at our resort. When we check in, we just decline them and ask for cards (we don't use the Magic Bands because they one time we did, the skin on our wrists broke out within 15 minutes of putting them on). So we just use the cards for our room, and our annual passes for admission and fastpasses. No problems.
 
When you customize your magic bands you have the option to decline. You click on the blue words, Decline MagicBand. It looks like this:

If you are eligible to decline them, there will also be an option during the on-line check-in process.
 
Thanks for the replies. I don't have any blue words that say "Decline". It just says I have 1 day left to customize. Oh well, not a big deal.
 
We have three nights booked at a non-DVC resort and have already customized our Magic Bands. Then we move to one night at a DVC resort. If we decline the MB for the one-night stay, is there a way to like it to the bands we already have?

Any active MagicBand that's linked to your MDE profile will work for any room reservation that's linked to the same MDE profile.

I don't know if this has changed, but when we once did this the gray bands appeared in our MDE account anyway, and I'm afraid that they couldn't be reassigned to another guest & ended up wasted anyway. Now I always make sure I decline them.
