deck level/section - what do you like and why?

Did you make a choice? What did you select?

I can make a comment about cabins outside the Vibe. Most of the cruise, it shouldn't be an issue, but during the second half of the cruise, they played a game called "Gotcha" which involved the kids "tagging" specific other kids. Each one had a specific target that they were looking for. For this reason, some kids would take to hanging out just outside Vibe (The game had restricted tagging rules inside Vibe) in order to try to find the person that they were looking for. So for a couple days, you could find a few (noisy?) teens standing in that area for quite a bit of time. They can be quite persistent.

Looking forward to hearing your choice!

We ended up going deck 8 aft. Honestly, the choice was made for us. We needed 2 connecting verandah rooms, both with bunks, and wanted to try starboard this time. I thought that should be vague enough, but not with only 9 months left until a Spring Break cruise! Go figure! The choices of connecting were limited (at least on the website) and of those available on the starboard side (there were more on portside), most didn't have the bunk. There was one set of connecting rooms on deck 8, 4Bs that had all the things we wanted, so we went with that.

We were willing to go to the 5's, and maybe DCL could have told us about some availability, but that would mean sitting with them (through a TA) to get options that aren't listed on the site and then researching them for the bunks (because after they told me my 4A last year had a Murphy bed 3 times and yet, it didn't, I trust the DIS info more than theirs for things like that). Anyway, the 5's would have saved me $1000, but I'm putting that down to the cost of delaying the decision.

I am nervous about the vibration on the Fantasy, though. We didn't really feel much on our last trip, but if people are saying there's a problem since the dry dock, that could change. The few people who have reported vibration were on deck 8 aft, so that worries me.

Now for my next cruise, I'm thinking of trying the 5's, maybe even a 5E? I might even be okay with deck 7, if it's a good savings. I have to say, though, getting an elevator, midship, on deck 7 might be difficult at high traffic times. We did like deck 9 for that.

Good point about the Gotcha game. My son loved that. I could see it being disruptive on deck 5.

We're aft people. I like the quick elevator ride to Cabanas in the morning and the views in port.

As far as decks, we loved Deck 2 AFT for OV. The next time we sail OV I will definitely book Deck 2.

We've been on decks 6 & 7 with a verandah and I didn't really have a preference.

We had one of the VERY aft 5E rooms on the Dream in January and there was a lot of vibration (which was fine but I'd prefer to avoid that.) For our cruise next January I booked a 4E that's a bit more midship but still AFT, so we'll see how that is.

We have never done Disney but we have done 2 with Carnival. Our first cruise we were on Deck 5 mid and it was fine. Our last cruise we were on deck 2 at the rear of the ship right above the propellers. It was very loud pulling into and out of port. For our Disney cruise next year I requested mid ship. I feel like you can't feel the movement as much.

Okay, today the boys were saying it might be nice to go on another cruise next year and can I make it happen... (yeah, AFTER the prices went up last month!)

Anyway, we had a 4A on deck 9 portside, (Fantasy), which was really nice (except for the balcony skin, but that wasn't that bad), but now looking at the prices and the availability I'm trying to decide where to go (on the ship) next.

The 4A next to ours is available, so that's always an option (the most expensive that I would consider), but I could save some money by going to a 5C on deck 7, too. Then again, 4Es on forward deck 5 might be nice. Or just save a little and go deck 8.

I wanted to stay away from deck 10, as most availability is aft, under Cabanas and deck 6, as it's over the kids' area and the theatre. I worried a little about deck 5 because of the Vibe entrance, but is that really a problem?

So.... any advice?

We like Deck 10 forward (all the way) starboard under the Rainforest (5A) However, we have stayed on Deck 6 midship (5D) as well as a couple of times on Deck 9 (again (5A) The only way we will stay on Deck 10 is if it is forward.

Vibe entrance is actually on Deck 4 all the way forward so you won't hear comings and goings from that. And Oceaneer Lab and Club is Deck 5 Midship port side, so you should be okay that way as well.

We usually book a Cat 5, deck 9, on the starboard side. Not particularly choosy about forward/mid/aft although Forward is better for us as we spend most time at the Adult pool. We like starboard side because the ship (usually) backs into Castaway Cay and the view from the balcony is beautiful!

I've found that starboard does book up a lot faster. Is it just the view that makes the difference? Also, forward seems to be in high demand. Aft seems to sell last, but I didn't mind being aft (although we weren't very aft) last time.

All depends on where you spend most of your time.

We prefer midship on a high deck. Closer to the pool and stairwell the better.

On the dream or fantasy, give me 9th pr 10th deck, midship and I'm happy.
