Deck 7 Fantasy forward

We are on a deck 2 midship in an oceanview. There are a couple of Deluxe Family Oceanview cabins that have opened up on our cruise. Deck 7, forward. I like the idea of a bit more space (still not sure if we should move to a verandah as it's January and don't know how much we'd use it). But on the Wonder I always felt the movement when we were forward (in the theatre for shows). I have seabands and use gravol but how much movement would we feel if we switched?

The motion will obviously depend on mother nature.
The sea could be glass like, or ferocious.
No way to know in advance.

The general belief is, it can be rough the night out of Port Canaveral, and the night back into PC from Castaway Cay.
That is two out of seven nights. And the other 5 nights? ? ?

If you have an issue with motion on the ocean, no way I would book either of those two very forward cat 9a's.
Even the 8c's are way forward of the forward elevator bank.

I would pass on the forward Oceanviews and stay put, due to known motion issues.
It's not worth more sqft to be miserable. IMO.

Not sure of pax # sailing.
Book two cabins on deck 2. Price it out. Sometimes it isn't much more especially when I hear talk of a veranda.

You are correct IMO that forward is the worst during high seas. Especially if you are waaaayyy forward.
You feel every bump left to right, and all the up and down motion.
And you hear it too.

My family has always noticed the increased movement when forward.

Don't forget about the possibility of two cat 5, etc, connecting verandas.

I recommend Bonine too.

Thanks for your input @Bear3412 We are a family of 4 with two younger kids (6&8 at time of cruise) so we won't need two cabins. But definitely food for thought for the rest of it, thanks!

We have stayed deck 7 forward the last two cruises and deck 2 mid on the Dream first. Two 9As on the Magic and 2 8Cs on the Fantasy two weeks ago. We loved the location and loved our huge window seat on the Fantasy.

It really does depend on weather. Our March cruise we felt no more movement than we had deck 2 midship on the Dream our first cruise. This past trip seas and winds were rougher and we definitely felt more movement than ever before...however we felt it all over the ship. It didn't bother us, we slept great, but we don't tend to get sea sick.

Good luck making the decision. I will say I liked being on deck 7 more than 2 as were only a few floors from anything.

We stay forward on Deck 10 (think 4 cabins from the very front) and really enjoy it with no motion sickness issues.
That being said, if you have known challenges then forward would not be a very comfortable place to be. We have also stayed Midship on Deck 6, 9,10 and really loved being there as well.
One time we were aft Deck 6 and I was not thrilled (it was a VGT that time) lol

We have sailed in verandah cabins on all cruises and have sailed in January, April, late May/ early June, September (a couple of times) November and December and all were wonderful in regards to temperature. The 'coldest" temperature we had was in January in Cape Canaveral at departure and arrival back to port (Please note, 50 to 60 degrees is cold to us) lol
Bring some light weight jackets and or hoodies and you will be fine. Also a pair or two of jeans/slacks etc and maybe a couple of long sleeve shirts. I found that when I was on deck with my son watching the Pirates of the Caribbean (after the Pirate night festivities) it gets quite windy and chilly so you will want something warm on those nights.

Bonine is something I would recommend having on hand.

We don't have Bonine in Canada but I'm sure this is something I can pick up over the counter at any US drug store? We will be at WDW for 2 nights pre cruise (and will have a car) so I'm sure I can find a drugstore.

Yes, Bonine is over the counter and can be found at Target, Walgreens, Walmart etc. You should have no trouble finding before you cruise.

My family favors mid-forward and forward cabins and my mother is also a sufferer of motion sickness. She regularly takes Dramamine daily, starting before she boards, and has never had a problem. We always sail in a verandah for this reason, also, as immediate access to air and the horizon alleviates the symptoms, too. We typically stay on deck 6, 7, or 8.

All but 2 of my 5 DCL cruises have been in January or February and the temps on the verandah were perfect. And I'm a born & raised Floridian! My issue is more the water temps at that time of year at Castaway--frigid! June was much better, but a big storm rolled in only a few short hours after we arrived at the island and washed us out. I was majorly bummed. But! It was so hot out that I could only stay on my verandah for a short time before getting too hot.

There are pros and cons to everything, but if motion is a major concern, the more midship you are, the better.
