My mother is traveling with my family of 5 to disney next June. We have enough points for either a 2 bedroom savannah view for 5 nights or 2 savannah view studios for 7 nights.

What are the chances we can get 2 studios close to each other? Am I stupid to even consider the 2 bedroom since we can stay two more nights in studios?

Thanks for any guidance you can give.....

It comes down to availability at check-in. Last year, our rooms were on separate sides of the lobby!
2 studios - you give up the kitchen and living room or "gathering" space.
Depends on how comfortable all of you are at the living room being used for sleeping too.
2 more days of vacation is definitely worth more than the overkill on the 2bdrm, but hey, it's your life!

:) We get another studio for my MIL, and DH and I get a studio...so we have enough points for family. She likes her privacy and we just use the cell phones to meet up or check in. We stayed at AKV last year and they put us on the second floor about 6 rooms away from each other. We would just stop by her room to get her on the way to the lobby. We are getting two studios again this year because it was so nice for us all to have some down time. Disney is a place where she feels completely safe (within reason of course) and has even started doing more things on her own which she likes from time to time. Last year she had a goal to do the four parks in one day--she did it on her own and is still rubbing it in. We do not have children so I could understand wanting to have the full kitchen and w/d.

This year we are arriving on a later flight the night before and have decided to spend the fist night at Pop, adjoining rooms. My MIL is a very youthful 67 year old. She is looking forward to having snacks and stuff delivered to AKV the first day of our DVC trip via Garden Grocer and has been shopping for her studio on their website. I also purchased an OL this year and she may put some stuff in my box--we'll see.

Next year my parents get their own studio--can't wait for them to see that savannah the first time.

I don't live near my DGC, and we're the owners, but we would always get a 2 bedroom so we can be with them. Once they arrived a few days ahead, so we did book a studio for us. We didn't want to bump them out of the master bedroom, which is usually ours. Staying with them is part of the fun of being there together. The DGC and our DS were at our studio door very early in the AM. We just want to be together.:goodvibes

I'm like Bobbi and and prefer to have the larger accommodations and have everyone together. It doesn't always work out to have it that way but I far prefer it. It's one of the biggest perks of DVC IMO.

If I were in your shoes I'd think about a 2BR value for a longer stay and request a Savannah view and cross my fingers. Or even a standard 2BR. Or borrow points to have a longer stay in the 2BR.

Since I don't make myself stay in studios, I don't want to force it on guests either if I don't have to. To me the whole point is having the gathering space of the living room/kitchen area. Of course, I don't usually expect anyone to sleep in the living room either, so that might be an issue too. The issue for me would be that no matter what, if you get two studios, someone sleeps on a sleeper sofa. I don't like that part. At least with a dedicated 2 bedroom, you have 3 real beds (assuming Kidani and not Jambo). Either way, your family alone is too large for a studio. Studios only sleep 4, so are you planning to put someone else with MIL?

Hi, it's Phillyatdisney's wife here and these are my thoughts:

Yes one of the children will be staying with MIL if we got two studios (the children will be 10, 7 and 5). They've never spent the night with MIL before so my fear is that is will not end up working out and then we will all have to fit in the studio that is not meant for 5 people. Or my husband will have to share room with his mom and I will be all alone with the 3 kids.

The kids are fine with sleeping in a sofabed or the sofachair but sometimes they fight when they sleep in the same bed, so if we had a two bedroom everyone would have their own bed. We would have 3 bathrooms rather than just two also so that would be helpful.

We just got back from our first ever stay at Kidani Village in a one bedroom and it is so nice, I fell in love with it, it might be hard to go back to a studio after that. I LOVED having a washer and dryer in our room and although we didn't use the kitchen for cooking, the full sized fridge was nice too.

But I guess it all comes down to - we are there for Disney World not the hotel so is it worth it to give that up the room I love for two more days at the parks?

If it was me I would go for the 2 bedroom and maybe a standard view the first 2 nights or opt for a standard view for 7 nights and hope to get bumped up to Savanah.

Given the above information, I'd go with the 2 bedroom. Remember, you are DVC members and you will make many more trips to Disney. I'd go with the 2 bedroom and fewer days this time for the comfort.

Yes, remember that you are DVC members and go for the great accomodations! You don't always get studios close to each other. We've had room numbers close, but on different floors, like 431 and 329...up and down, up and down.

I also think 2 more days wouldn't be enough anyway. We usually wish we were staying longer!:goodvibes
