Finally decided on doing a split stay for 2 nights at POR & 4 nights at Poly. Feels good & I'm excited. Any tips on how to make the switch easier? We will have our own car so bell services won't be needed. Just wondering what others have done. Thanks in advance.

We love split stays :)
On the day we switch resorts, we choose a park where we know we can stay until early afternoon if needed. For example I would never go to AK on the day we switch because it gets so hot very early in the day. We try to choose a park that's closest to our new resort.

We also make an ADR for lunch so that we can relax for a couple hours even if we're room-less (especially if it's in summer).

Have fun !!! The Poly is sooooooooo beautiful.

We are doing our first split stay this December.:santa: We are staying 4 nights at AKL Dec 1-5 then switching to CSR for 4 nights, Dec 5-9. We are also really really excited.:yay: These are the two resorts that we couldn't decide upon staying at.

We wanted to stay at CSR first, then AKL, because we always hear the hype on here that you should stay at the deluxe resort last. But unfortunately, since we used the Disney Visa code, we could't get it to work out that way. But either way, for a little cheaper than what our vacation was going to be for all 8 nights at CSR, we get to have 4 nights at AKL in a savanna bunk bed room! Ah....life is great! :cloud9:

That was my problem too!! It was the fact that I couldn't decide on resorts because we have stayed at both & loved them both for different reasons. Not too sure that DH is sold on this split, but who will be doing the work/packing/organizing anyway...:rolleyes1 I am very excited about this split. It worked out good because tickets/dining plan not an issue.

We're looking into doing a split stay as well between the Poly and AKL or BC - not sure yet. I think it offers the best of both worlds - trying a new resort and staying at our fav. The only cons I can think of is having to pack up everything to be transported to a new resort and then figuring out where everything is at the new resort (which could be a pro or con depends on the person). When I stay at a hotel I like getting settled and knowing where everything is so not sure we'd be good candidates for a split stay but I'd love to do one.

We did a split stay a few weeks ago, went from Pop to Poly (thank goodness we didn't go the other way with it...we would have HATED Pop if it followed the wonderful Poly!) Anyway, we made that day our MNSSHP day. We slept in, packed, called luggage services, and headed to the Poly. We checked in, looked around, then went to Kona Cafe for lunch. Went to our room, called for our luggage, went for a swim, took a nap, and then headed for MK about 5. The switch could not have been smoother. Of course, it was pure luck that our room was ready and our luggage came quickly.
For us, it just wouldn't have worked to do a park that day and it was a perfect time for a "down" day.

We make the day we switch our "resort day". We check into the new resort and play there all day. We go to the nicer resort on the second part of the stay, as most do, so we like to enjoy the ammenities there. We usually have a rental, but still let Disney move our bags. We just pack a few things (change of clothes, sunscreen, etc.) in a carryon and we're off. Have a great time!!! :goodvibes
