Deciding if we should stay at The Contemporary...

Depending on how many nights you stay, and what time of the year it is, the fireworks might interrupt your little ones sleep. We stayed at BLT, and the fireworks woke us up one late night, and the Electric Water Parade did too. No early nights there. :lmao: Other than that, it's a great place to stay, you can't beat the ability to just walk to the MK. Nothing like it!

So would you save the $80 and do a garden wing room? I have read so many different reviews about some people really not liking the garden rooms (saying they were musty and dirty feeling) but then I have read some people like them. I know everyone has different tastes I just don't want to spend that much money and have the room be awful. I honestly have not really had the desire to stay at the Contemporary (my two that I would love to try are the Polynesian and Beach Club) but I am thinking convenience for after the party and the crowds that will be leaving and how nice it would be to just be able to walk back to our hotel and my husband and DD's love the idea. We have tickets to the very first party Nov 9th which is Veterans Day weekend also so I was thinking it might be real busy. TIA everyone.

I have stayed in the tower and the garden wing. Loved them both. I agree with all the reasons others have said.....location, pool with slide, game room, dining options... I really like the convenience. I think it makes getting around easier and so people are less likely to get cranky after walking all over a park. I like to take breaks in the afternoon, so it is a convenient and great place to have some down time.

I have stayed at the Pop too. Another reason for me is that everything is close. At the Pop, we had to walk far to the pool, food.. and usually took the car. At CR my kids can easily get to the pool and other amenities without someone having to drive.

We stayed in a wing room several years ago when they had just started taking down the north wing. They were renovating the south wing building and we were in an unrenovated room. We thought it was great, handy, very large and comfortable. We'd stay there again if we didn't have DVC points to use. One thing that was really nice was not having to wait for an elevator if we didn't want to use the elevator since the building is only three stories tall. The stairs were easy to use.

And it was a minute or two from the tower building. And it seemed quieter, too.

Spend the $80 on food and souveniers instead of a tower room.

I have stayed in the wing rooms a number of times. I realized during our stay in the wing in 2007 the room was one of the quietest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in.

We stayed in the tower three or four years ago and loved it. I agree with Unofficial Guide that it has some of the nicest rooms on property, maybe the nicest. Absolutely gorgeous, if you like sleek and modern (which we do). We also love the location and being able to walk back to our hotel versus standing in a line for a bus, hoping to get a seat on a bus packed like sardines (hate the busses). We also LOVE breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I would definitely choose CR over POR.

We stayed in a garden room last time and loved it! We had garden view that actually overlooked the water. We found it was faster to walk outside the building and only took us 2 minutes to get inside the building - that's as long as you could wait for an elevator. And having all that room for a family of 5 was fantastic. Plus, the toilet is closed off from the sink and shower so one person could be using the potty while the others are getting ready.

I was thinking if we booked the CR then we would slow down a bit this time.

Regarding the part about slowing down a bit, what we find relaxing about the CR is how easy (and quick) it is to walk to MK. We'll walk over to MK in the morning, and then whenever we feel like it we just walk back to CR and swim for a bit. It's a great feeling knowing that you can easily return to MK at night after a swim/rest/shower. When our kids were babies, we'd walk back to MK at night just to go to the bakery....the babies would be sleeping in the stroller and it was such a relaxing way to end the day....

I grew up going to Disney at least 3x a year and never ever wanted to stay at Contemporary. I just didn't like the theme of it. However, last year we decided to give it a shot and I fell in love with it! We stayed in the tower and had Bay Lake view. I loved waking up every morning to the view and at night, you could watch the Electrical Night Parade. I can understand why a lot of ppl wouldn't like it for the theme. I like it b/c of the convenience and I love the fact that you are right in the middle of EVERYTHING (ie: Monorail, CHef Mickey's, etc). I felt like I was always immersed in Disney (I know not all ppl like that and need some time off). Our room was on the Chef Mickey's end and I had thought I would hate it, but it was great. I would at times, just walk out our door and look over the edge of the balcony and ppl watch at Chef Mickey's or the cafe, etc. We had some friends go with us this past trip and they stayed in the Garden wing and did not like CR, but they said they didn't feel like they got the whole experience as if they would have stayed in the tower. I'm sure you will love which ever hotel you stay in as they all have something to offer.

For my sons first trip to Disney World we stayed in a tower room. The room was large and beautiful and being able to see the fireworks at night was great. My husband loves the CR but I find it to be borring. I would much rather stay at POR. I like the more relaxed pace at POR and since my kids are now older I am not as concerned about being close to my resort for afternoon naps or anything like that. CR is great for being so close and nice big rooms but just not one of my top picks.
Have a great trip whatever you decide. :wave2:
