We have a few extra days off and are thinking of driving to either Savannah or on over to the Panhandle. We are only staying about 3 nights, so I wondered if you all have any thoughts. What else to do in Savannah other than Paula Deen's and walking Historic Downtown? My husband is an avid fisherman and I know there are lots of marinas and tackle shops in both areas.

Ohhh, I so want to visit Savannah. Every time I watch "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil" I am totally mesmerized by the beauty of the city. I would totally plan a vacation around one of their famous BBQ contests because I have friends who went to The Big Pig Jig in Vienna and loved it, sounds like a hoot.

Savannah is a fantastic town. So much to see and do. Three days there would be perfect. Paula's is nothing. So many better places to go. Savannah is full of good food. The Olde Pink House is our favorite. The beach is also not far away, as is river and marsh - plenty of fishing nearby.

PCB seems really far away for you, no? I live in middle GA and it takes me 4 hours. FL is a long state both ways.

But I have been to both. Savannah has more to do if you are into sight-seeing. Plus since your DH is into maritime activities, it has tons. PCB is only good for the beaches, which are stunning and 100 times more gorgeous than Savannah's.

I vote Savannah and stay at The Bohemian. Got to stay there for my birthday and it's fabulous! I won't stay anywhere else from now on...

It's cold here in Savannah right now, and we've had some ice. That's pretty unusual for us.

Even if you've seen all you want to see in Savannah, Charleston is just a hop, skip and a jump away!

I've been to both (although it has been many years), Savannah was really nice and lovely, of course PCB is a lot of fun too. I love the white sand. It is absolutely lovely, lots of sun and fun. Of course this time of year, there won't be much doing on the beach which would probably make Savannah a bit more appealing because of all the other stuff to see.

If you are talking about going now, Savannah is the clear winner. PCB is a beach town and absolutely nothing is happening in January. Some places even close up shop until Spring. Hit Savannah, enjoy City Market and Riverstreet, and bring a heavy coat!! It's chirry!!
