I've asked a similar question a few days ago but now I want to go more indepth
The Polynesian standard room that I wanted for my Disney trip is not available at this time. However, the Port Orleans room is available. Anyone who has stayed at both resorts....Is it worth spending $2100 more to stay at the Polynesian in a deluxe studio for my family of 5?
FYI, the deluxe studio only has 1 queen bed, a pull out couch and a Murphy bed. The Riverside room has a Murphy bed also but it also has 2 queen beds.
Thx in advance for you input

"Worth it" depends on your financial situation. Since you're asking, I would say it likely isn't.

Which theme do you like better? Is the pool important? I justified the extra money for the theme, convenience, views, and travel options to MK and Epcot. I tried to extend one night and they were full so we had to switch to POFQ for a single night. The grounds were pretty, the boat ride to Disney Springs was nice, but my son called the slide a "kiddie slide".

It was fine for one night, and the beignets were GREAT, but to me- yes, Poly is worth it. All depends on what is important to you.

In all honesty, I could afford either hotel. I just can't imagine spending $2100 when the hotel is not worth the extra money.

My family really likes all parks equally. We are the type of family to go to a park and stay all day. We don't take breaks.
If the Polynesian had a standard room available with 2 queen beds, I would not hesitate but the fact that the only room available is a queen bed and sofa bed of giving me second thoughts...

We stayed at POFQ last year (visited POR and had dinner there) and stayed at Poly this year. All 3 of our kids liked PO better. The convenience of Poly is worth a lot if your spending a lot of time at MK but otherwise, I would say it's probably not worth it unless you plan to spend a lot of time at the resort.

If you don't take midday breaks for the pool, and you don't take at least half a day to "enjoy" the resort, don't plan on being at least one night for EWP and wishes, and if your time is equally split between the parks AND it doesn't have the sleeping arrangements that you want-
Then totally save the $2100 and definitely stay at PO!

I think the $2100 would be a waste in your case. Like I said, for me was convenience to Epcot and MK, and because we did enjoy the theme pool and view. If you take those out of the equation- definitely not worth the money.

Not sure how long your trip is but you could get 2 rooms at POR (with 2 bathrooms) for less than the $2100.
Just a thought. :)

My almost 12 year old loved the POR Murphy bed. We usually stay Deluxe, but loved POR. I'd save your $2100.

Then you shouldn't spend it. That's what I meant. If money were no object, then yes, the Poly is better, but to most of us who question these amounts, it just isn't that much better to justify the cost. Maybe a royal room at POR instead?

If you really cannot see yourself paying this unless it is "worth" it, it probably is not. Many times we do pay the money, and never regret it, but we often stay at a moderate and are happy. I think that you need to determine how much time you will spend at the resort, and if the amenities that the resort offers will be used. If yes, then consider the money. Of not really or not much time, stay at POR. It is lovely.

In the past, I have done deluxes more than mods. We stayed at BC std for many years. We also tried BWI, BWI CL, CR, CR CL, and Poly CL. We enjoyed them all. We have also stayed at POP, POR, and POFQ. We liked POFQ the best because of size, but we also thought POR was a very nice resort.

We stayed at CR CL in January. It was fun, but all Disney vacations are fun. It just didn't wow us enough, for the money we spent. For our next stay, we are staying at POFQ because I like the price, about $200 per night for my family, with taxes included. Staying in a deluxe would double this, or more, and I just don't feel like paying it this time. My kids and husband don't really care where we stay. You will have fun at either resort. Poly is really nice, but I'm not absolutely sure that it's $2100 more nice than POR.

ps two queen beds are important to us, as well. That would push me in favor of POR.

Agree with pp that if you are not spending a good amount of time at the resort, then no, not worth it. The monorail access is especially great for breaks, but if you don't take breaks I would skip it. We did poly and POR last year and really enjoyed PRO. have a great trip!

I'm all about the deluxe and I am of the opinion that they are usually worth the extra expense BUT if I was in a position where I'd be happy either way and had 5 people staying in the room, I'd for sure pick the room with two beds. Something not so magical about over half the party having to sleep on pull outs for the entire trip :(
