I decided to sell my DVC contract. When we bought in 2006 I envisioned once my children left the household DW and I making multiple studio stays per year. We became empty-nesters in August less than a week after DW was diagnosed with MS. The MS limits her mobility, saps her energy and heat makes things worse, not a good combination for WDW.

So sorry to read this. I will miss your photo trip reports. I hope she feels good for as long as possible.

So sorry for your wife's health issues. :grouphug:

We have already begun to sell some of our DVC contracts. BC and BWV. We had acquired enough points for our 3 adult children. Only one of them wants to own. Airfare, tickets, food have just gotten so expensive that our young adult children can hardly afford it. So we will be keeping just enough for my one son (90 BLT points) and then VWL for us.

On a brighter note, you could rent points for future stays and really be saving all the way around.

Anyway I can change my name to "VWL Dreamin"?

I am saddened to hear this. I have enjoyed your photo trip reports too and they will be missed. You and your DW are in my prayers.

Thanks for your kind words. I hope to still make some trips to my beloved WDW but probably not with enough frequency to keep the DVC. I am thankful that DVC timeshares do retain a great deal of the value so I am going to be able to recoup much of my initial invest. My MIL owns a great deal of Wyndham points so we may head to Bonnet Creek at some point and give it a try.

I just sold two contracts for health reasons also. I think many of us try to make sure we'll leave enough points for our adult children, only to find out they can't really afford or want them and then our needs or health changes unexpectedly. I have four children and only one wants any of the points so we kept one small contract at OKW- our original purchase back in 96.

As encouragement, I had no trouble selling my contracts in a timely fashion.Thinking of the new families or couples buying them and having the same enjoyment as we did all these years made it an occasion for happiness vs. feeling badly about dreams going unfulfilled. Of course, having the sale proceeds and realizing we've gotten our money's worth and then some didn't hurt either!

I hope your wife does well and that you can make many more trips to WDW in the cooler months. I use a power wheelchair to get around and while it's a different kind of trip than we've had in the past I still have a wonderful time at my "happy place" and I hope the same is possible for the both of you.

Sorry to hear this. I wish you and your wife the best. I will miss your posts.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your wife's health issues. Best wishes to you and your wife.

I want to echo what other posters have said. I'm sad to hear of your wife's MS, and hope all will be well for both of you. :tink: And also, I hope that you will find new, differing ways to enjoy WDW.

I am also sorry to hear about your wife's health issues. Best wishes to you both.

I understand the heartache that accompanies your decision to sell. It is hard enough dealing with the day-to-day challenges of MS, but making tough choices like selling DVC compounds the hurt. I know that someday we will be in your shoes because of DH's health issues, but I refuse to think about it until I must. Here's hoping that you find a way to enjoy WDW or other vacations spots even with the new reality of your wife's MS.

Sad day..

Sorry to hear about your DW. My DH also has MS. Although heat is a struggle, he stays hydrated, gets a GAC pass that has a "shade stamp" on it (request to wait in shade), and we use "frog toggs" chilling pads. These are a huge help and I suggest you buy them for any outing that she may attend.

My DH joined an expermental trial that has had tremendous success. We still don't know what drug he is taking however; since on it, he has not developed any more lesions.

At one point, he was on ADHD meds for the exhaustion. They worked great but, he ended up having heart palpatations so, he had to come off them. He is now back to being tired.......

One thing that I discovered is that symptoms come and go......good days and bad days. When he is feeling down, I pull out my MS shirt (It says, I wear orange because I love my husband), this always seems to bring a smile to his face. Cafe press . com is the place for this stuff, type in MS and you will be amazed at what comes up. Also-check out my Avatar (??). A great DIS designer made it for me. I transfered it to a shirt and wear it proudly.

Keep your chin up. Sending hugs!

Best to your wife and you. Honestly we understand completely. As we get older it has become more and more of hassle instead of enjoyment.

I would just like to sit quietly on a beach somewhere.
