ok i am a land mark driver so i am going into unknown territory here, but after looking at a town car and waiting on shuttles-offsite i decided to rent a car for 9 days or so am i losing my mind i am scared but i told my family it will be fun or at least funny is driving there pretty simple, i am only using the car to get to universal, seaworld and a resturant and mall or two and i am taking the shuttles to disney any advice
it's like 180 for the nine days a towncar is 105 round trip and tickets to transport to seaworld and universal are 14 per person per day, disney is free
i am scared lol and so is my family lol

We are by no means Orlando experts. Everything you need will be along Hwy 192, International Drive and I-4. The hardest part will be getting to/from the airport. If you can get decent directions for this then everything else will be easy. You are probably use to heavy traffic (being from IL) so that probably won't be an issue for you. We are from a small town and can't stand traffic; I will literally drive 100 miles out of my way to avoid sitting in an Interstate "parking lot" at rush hour.

Also, it looks like you are staying at a disney resort (?) since you state that you will use their shuttles?? So if you are at a disney resort, and you decide to drive to a disney park, then your parking is free.

I think walmart has some pretty decent atlas'. You should check those out and see if you can get one w/ Orlando details. Or go to mapquest.com to plot out some of your routes.

All of Illinois doesn't have heavy traffic. LOL

Do you need a car for all nine days? You can rent Alamo at the Dolphin. Hertz will come and get and return you.

Don't sweat the driving, just do what I do. close your eyes, get under the seat and steer.:jester:

manning, wehen are you going to Orlando again? I may need to change my plans!:wave2:

Am I there yet? Hold on let me look out the window and check, It feels like I'm on 192 now.

Nope not yet. Should get there by the first part of Nov. Just look for a blue Lincoln without a driver visible. And my wife's hair sticking straight up and a bottle in her hand. (make that in each hand. She just said my driving has gotten worse with age.) Are there any stop lights around here? I haven't stopped for any.
:jester:

P.S. The wife said the first Disney thrill (or did she "horror) ride starts from the end of the driveway at home.

This part of Central FL is pretty easy to drive around. We joke all the time about how easy it is to give directions. Follow this road down to the end and turn right for several miles.

It is all well marked and you shouldn't have any problems.

Sometimes I feel like the adventure starts in the driveway. Wait, it does when you pull a travel trailer!!

Well happy to report I was able to change our ressie's from 1st of Nov. to another time!:yo-yo: Just pulling your chain!

Great description of driving though, I could visualize it!

Have a good time.
