After careful thought and concideration, we have decided to not book the Hoop-De-Doo on our trip :guilty: Its a 2 credit meal, and after watching the show on youtube... I think those credits will be better spent somewhere else. I'm sure my girls would like the singing and dancing, but they aren't really into the whole western theme, which is what that show is. Plus, its very long and will take up a good portion of that day.
Hope I'm making the right decision.....

The show is really, really good. It's not really just a "western" show. It's singing, dancing, comedy, etc. Just a great show overall. Very funny and very entertaining. We loved it so much more than SOA. It doesn't seem long when you're in there because it's so entertaining.

If it makes more sense $$ wise to not include it in your plans, hten skip it and maybe next time :thumbsup2

(it is quite punny, we really really enjoyed it!)

It depends on what you think your kids would like most. My son loved the show at 18 months and it was absolutely worth the 2 credits. We are doing it again kn our upcoming trip (now with 2 kids). But we are staying 7 nights with only 6 real days. We have 2 driving days, so we had the extra TS to use. Have a great trip!!

You have to do what is right for your family, but if others are reading the show while set in older Western times, is not really a Western. It is slap-stick comedy that includes songs and dancing and acting, with participation from the audience. Yes it takes place in the wild west, but not like you would think when watching a Western show or movie.

Also, the show really is not that long. You enter at 5pm and they start shortly after with the cornbread and salad. The entire dinner and show is over by 6:45ish so that they have the hall cleaned and ready for the next show. So I would say around 1 hour 45 minutes, the same you may expect as some regular meals and definitely at a signature meal.

I understand the dilemma. HDDR is really the Make or Break point for me in whether to do DxDP or not. However, I have decided to keep it because we have never done it and I think my kids are at great ages for it this year. We never do the parks (except WS) at night anyway and it just sounds like fun for all and relaxing for us adults, while we are all entertained. However, we have had so many good trips to WDW in the past and have never done HDDR, so I KNOW you can have a great trip without feeling like you missed something by skipping it. If it works this year, do it. If it is really throwing schedule/ budget off, skip it.

Just booked to do HDDR for the 8th time. It's a great show with a c&w leaning, but a vaudeville feel. Other considerations are the all inclusive beer and wine, if that makes any difference, and the fact that that's 2 credits you don't have to tip on. Tip is included in the credits. It's way more than just dinner. And after a bit o' beer, a bus ride back home is a great ending for the night.

I think you made a great decision. If the youtube video clip made you doubt, going with your gut instinct was the right thing to do. Many years ago we took our family of 7 (before the eighth member was born and he's 7 now) to HDDR and I think we paid (then) around $350. We felt really ripped off! I wish we would have viewed a video clip before plunking down that chunk of change! It was just not our humor style at all and I think it helped us realize that we are just not "show" or maybe dinner-show people. It reminds me of something my family, when I was growing up, would have liked in the early 70's when Hee-Haw was a big TV show...Sorry to all those who love it!:flower3:

I took my DS twice when he was a child. Now we are taking his kids! One of the few specific things he wanted to share with his DD's was HDDR! The other thing he remembered was he did NOT like the SOA. AHH memories.:dance3:
