Since we cut our trip very short this week, I'm already thinking about our next trip. On one hand I'd like to go really soon, yet on the other hand, I want to do it right, not rush it and be able to book the few FP and ADRs we would want.

So, I'm thinking of waiting until December 2018. We've always wanted to go before Christmas and when we've gone in winter have only gone after. Decorations are still up, but normally coming down while we're there. We would want the full Christmas experience this time.

The first and second weeks of December would be options for us. Is one week preferred over the other?

We are going to be there in the last week of Nov and first week of Dec 18, i believe that about the 5th Dec for a week there will be cheerleaders and sports teams there for competitions. but I was told they will be practicing and in competitions for most of the day so only in the parks later. Believe the teams stay in one of the value resorts.

We started planning this year's December trip about a year ago. We read all the blogs about early December being a great time to go so we chose the second week. We've never been at December but according to people on here, things have been different this year. The resorts are booked, ADRs were somewhat difficult to get and discounts have been pretty pitiful.
A few resorts have been under construction so that may play a part in some of it. Free dining is also going on and people love this promotion. It'll be interesting to see how fast pass selections go too.

Bottom line is i don't think there's much of a difference in the two weeks as it seems to be a popular time to go.

I go the first week of December every year, starting the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and then for the next 9-10 days. I've not encountered any issues with Pop Warner and cheerleaders, but I use DVC points and don't stay at the values. I've had issues getting the ADRs I want at the times I want for the last two years. I'm guessing it's due in part to free dining. But with persistence and the touring plan reservation notification tool, I've gotten the ADRs I want. The Christmas decorations are wonderful and the parks aren't horribly crowded at that time of year.
