My family and I will arrive Sunday Dec 13 at 11:30 a.m. Should we spend first afternoon at Downtown Disney or go to Mickey's VMCP??? Daughter 7 son 11... Suggestions please. Thanks.

I have never been to it but I'd personally love to start my trip with MVMCP versus DTD. Seems much more exciting for first getting there.

Just consider the time. If you have to wake early to catch your flight in you may want to relax that first day. We arrive at 9am, so that means a 3:30am wake up before flight.

MVMCP runs until midnight and you definitely want to get your money's worth.

I think you can do MVMCP, just don't count on getting down time in your room before you go. We tried that before MNSSHP last year and our room wasn't ready until 3 on the dot. It was annoying as we got there at 1 and had hoped to get a nap for DS in before the party. Your kids probably don't nap but you might want to settle in, unpack, shower, etc. If you want to arrive at the 4pm unofficial entry for the party that can be tough if your room isn't ready early.

I would do the Christmas party! What a great start to your vacation, we have been to several of the parties and they are a lot of fun.

Thank you all for the feedback. If we go to downtown... Can we get off the magic express in this area on the way from the airport? Or do we have to go to resort to check-in first? Thanks. Staying at Bay Lake Towers.

You will be taken to your resort.

Given that you're staying in BAy Lake, I'd definetly go to the party!

What time are you getting up that morning? Remember to take full advantage of the MVMCP festivities, you should stay the full 5 hours--7PM to midnight, at least I think so. Also, you have to have MK entrance tickets too since MVMCP doesn't include admission. I'm going that same week and have party tickets for Tuesday the 15th.

No matter what you decide, have a grand time!

You only need the party ticket to get in at 4pm.

It does after 4:00p.

So sorry about that, I just assumed given Disney's usual policies. However, after reading the fine print, you don't need regular admission. I wish now that I had realized this sooner. I am planning on going on Tuesday 12/15, but I get there in the afternoon on Friday, 12/11 and this would have been perfect timing for me to go to MK for the party that night:(. Oh well, live and learn. Sorry again for any confusion I caused.
