His birthday....so DH bought it. It kinda looks kiddy - but he'll like it. It was $48. Then when DH got DS1 home from school, there was a note from the teacher saying she wanted to meet with me. You see, on Thursday, she sent home a note about DS1's behavoir. It seems he is talking too much & was scaring kids in the restroom. He always talks too much. He is a kid. And the scaring part, the night before his dad put on a Halloween mask & scared him. But I did punish him. He had no tv & candy for 4 days, which included the weekend. So, I spent more time with him since he couldn't watch tv.
, packed the boys Halloween goody bags for school
, packed DS1's goody bags for his party
& lots of other things. Also managed to have a molding from the top of the wall fall down, knock my glasses off & hit my nose. So, I have a bump there too. Bad weekend for that type of stuff.

Geez, sounds like you need a vacation!!
We both instinctively threw our hands back in a karate chop to the guys head. He wasn't hit hard but was quite surprised! I guess our martial arts training instincts kicked in. We thought it was pretty funny.
Sounds like a super busy weekend! Isn't it amazing how much you can accomplish when you stay off the computer? But, it's more fun to be here!![]()
Love the camera idea. I will have to check that out. My daughter loves to take pictures with my digital camera and would be thrilled to have her own to play with. I'm off to check the walmart website as soon as I get off of here.
I have a funny haunted house story - this happened before Samantha was born so probably 8 years ago or so. I studied martial arts for about 10 years before Samantha was born. A friend from class and I went to a haunted house at the fairgrounds one year. This was one that you rode through on little carts. At the end, some guy jumped out from behind us.We both instinctively threw our hands back in a karate chop to the guys head. He wasn't hit hard but was quite surprised! This haunted house - we go to every year - its really neat. Its called the 13th Gate. All sorts of new things this year - one I really hated. You had to walk through this spot that had big inflated walls on each side of you - they touched & you had to push your way through. It felt like I was suffocating - I guess that the point - but OMG!! And everyones head passes through in the same spots & touches those wall - what is someone had nasty hair??? YUCK!!

He's a big talker? Where did he get that?!

Is the camera called "kidtronics" ? I saw one online by Fisher Price and it was pink or blue. Must be the same. Looks like a great sturdy camera for kids who will probably not be too gentle with it. I hate our Walmart but may need to go in and take a look. There was another one online (a girly butterfly one) that was only $9.00! There were actually five good reviews written about it. Sounds too good to be true though.![]()
The walls at your haunted house would have creeped me out!![]()
Thanks for the camera tips! My mom bought a bunch of disposable cameras buy 1 get 1 free for Hunter. She's a good deal finder like you! She also got some waterproof too!
I'm sorry, but I am CRACKING UP at your son scaring people in the bathroom! He's a big talker? Where did he get that?!

Missed ya this weekend. I'm at boring work on the weekends so all I have to do is hang out on the DIS!
I've looked at that Fisher Price camera too. The picture quality does not look great, but it's probably fun for the kids. I was going to let Will use one of my old cameras when we were there, but we took it one day and he never used it, so we didn't drag it with us the rest of the time.
Roxanne, it sounds like you had a fun weekend, reguardless.
Will got in trouble for talking last week too. His teacher said he was on "yellow, almost to orange". Yellow is "warning", Orange is the "third level". I'm pretty sure the talkers are the smart kids. I always got in trouble for talking in school. So even though Will got in trouble (he looses the Wii for the day when he's not on "green"), I was laughing inside.![]()

You just nailed some of the reason that we are homeschooling!!! Hunter is a HUGE talker (yeah I know imagine that!). He would be completely bored in Kindergarden. Your DS in probably bored too. Be his advocate, and don't let that teacher stifle him! Maybe she want's him to work in the local haunted house since he's so good at scaring kids in the bathroom!![]()
) - my point - let him be a normal 5 year old, which includes talking too much & doing things you're not supposed to.
So, DH wants to show DS1 that he shouldn't be afraid of masks & puts in on, sneaks on the floor next to the bed DS1 is in & jumps up at him. Can you say nightmare city?? Well, my little boy handled it differently & the next day decided to stand behind the door in the bathroom stall & jump out scaring anyone who wanted to use that stall.
What was he thinking? Better yet, what was Dh thinking? Because DS1 didn't really get scared...but DS2 who didn't even see what happened but "heard" it got scared. So, tomorrow ought to be pretty interesting - but I am taking up for Taylor -
Could you wear a belt around the shirt? I'm not sure where you would find those suspender clip thingies either.I know what you're talking about, the suspender thing, but I don't know what it's called or where to find it. Sorry.
I used to get in trouble all the time for talking. Luckily, my first grade teacher was smart. I got in trouble for stealing milk money (seriously. We used to put our milk money for snack on the corner of our desks and when everyone left the room I walked around collecting it in my Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox-the things we remember). Anyway, they had me tested for gifted. Apparently I was bored.![]()
Sounds like he's a smart boy to me. I hope his teacher recognizes that and finds ways to channel his talkativeness (see I invent words too), and doesn't just want to stifle it. I would fight anyone who tried to say my kid was ADD or ADHD. He can be hyper, but when he's interested in something he will sit without moving for hours. I'm so tired of people sticking kids on Meds all the time. Hated it as a teacher, won't allow it as a parent.
Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes (as if you wouldn't!).
I am glad you see things my way. I have said to everyone, he is not getting on any meds & they tell me - "Well, if he needs it..yada, yada" - those are the ones who have their own chidren on it. I would just rather deal with his occasional talking sections then put him on anything. I don't even know if that will come up but something is telling me it will. Like you said, if he is interested in something, he can sit for hours doing it. We plan on carving some pumpkins next weekend, that for sure will get his attention & he'll be so into it. I will let you know.
Congrats on the weight loss!Could you wear a belt around the shirt? I'm not sure where you would find those suspender clip thingies either.
Thanks.
ThanksI applaud you for not jumping on the medication bandwagon that alot of parents do. I'm sure there are kids who really need to be medicated but for the most part it is just stifling who they are. The meds make it "easier" for the parents/teachers.
As for the belt - maybe one of the low slung belts that seem to be popular these days. Kind of like the 80's style.![]()
I do sleep, promise. I came on to Dis after the kids went to bed last night. I think I went to bed around 9:30 & up at 5:45 - kids still asleep but my internal alarm clock is set at about 6 or so. Then in between getting ready for work until the time I leave, which is about now, I check back when I get for posts every now & then.In my family I'm the one who needs to be medicated!![]()
Roxanne, do you sleep? You were on here when I went to bed and you were on at 6am! You are a dedicated DISer!
